Wish Celine Would Still Prove Herself

She said in interviews when she presented her "Taking Chances" album that she didn't have to prove herself anymore. That now she could just record albums for her own pleasure. I agree, but....

She also said that before her vocal cords were running her life, but now its her life who's controlling the vocal cords. I was kind of sad to hear that....

The reason why she's There today, the reason why she's the best selling female artist of all time is explain by her POWERFUL voice and her high notes. (plus many of other things)

I miss "All By Myself" & "The Power of Love" type of songs...

I wish for her next album to be more like "Falling Into You" "TCOML" "TAST" album and to hit some real high notes....

I miss the "powerful voice" type songs too. I would love to hear her hit more high notes in future recordings like in "All By Myself" ---Which we all know she can still do since she did it wonderfully in the world tour I love the lower songs from taking chances as well, so maybe an album with both types would be nice to have...

I agree. So many people on here seem to be favor in a complete movement to songs like Fade Away and Taking Chances....while I like those songs, they don't do justice to her voice in the way songs like ABM, I Surrender, TPOL, TPOTD, and more... Celine's greatest attribute is her powerful vocals, and it saddens me that they aren't used to the fullest extent like they once were.

but the industry is different now. in the 90s, pop, and ballad ruled the charts.. now, go to Yahoo Music or Billboard top 100, and find for urself how many of them are actually ballads?

Taste is different now as well... for me i prefer 90s celine. The music today is too commercial, and i find it hard to even find a good one in the top 40.

Well 1st of all is great that Celine is not living all to take care of her voice and just getting more into the industry,she all ready passed that stage and every prove in her life ,now she feels complete i every aspect ,she is singing not because she has to, even if she loves to sing,now is different.

She is in another chapter of her life she completed goals ,achivments etc...now she sing for her family,her vivid things on life ,herway up,for us her fans!.... is something deeper i may say.

And about the high note we perfectly know whats Celine is capable to do,but know she is older and her voice is more mature,and its inevitable that her voice change,but she still blows out every stage cuz it didnt change that much is not just about her voice and vocal chord ,Celine in particular whole Celine Dion has experience changes :emotional,physical,etc.. things that makes her who and how she is now she just keeps growing as a person,and the whole world too,even we as fans ofCeline we grow with her , i know we all love to hear stuff like "Think Twice,Its all coming back to me now,Misled,etc.." :laugh: But she cant go backwards is like going in the other way of the road :flowers:

Celine is just an amazing person we love her ,and she is more talented that anybody,she has everything cuz she deserves it and more!!God knows that!!

I love her high notes too...but I'm glad she said her vocal chords don't run her life anymore. I don't think anybody's career should run their life...would you expect that of anyone else? A career can end in a minute, and then what do you have? It's the people you love who matter in the end. I'd much rather she have good relationships with her family, take care of her health, and then when she looks back someday she won't have so many regrets. As long as she's making music, whenever she's ready, whatever kind of music...I'll be happy. Honestly, I'm much more excited about the baby than I would be about a new album anyway, because I know how happy it'll make her!

I think most Celine fans miss such songs but this is not enough. When an artist, Celine for example, wants to make a new album, she announces this in the music industry and then many different composers propose and give songs that would probably fit to the album and the singer. She said that in the taking chances album, most people proposed pop-rock songs, so, she had to choose between them. Also, her team and she are not able to know that a song will be a hit (like all by myself) before she record it..

I would to hear more songs like all by myself, and i surrender. The thing is Celine is thrilled beyond belief with her life and being pregnant which makes me very happy!! I think Celine has proven herself already, and she is so talented wether it is a power ballad or not it would be better than most of the main stream music that is out today. A power ballad would be incredible though i know she is still capable ; ) J'adore Celine!

She doesn't need to make another record full of high notes to prove herself. Not even another single high note. She has already proved that in a long, wide selection of albums.

Recording new styles, different albums she has never done before, like the jazz/spanish/dance/... albums she has in mind? That will prove her again, regardless it includes high notes or not :yes: :thumbsup2:

celine had proven herself million times more than any other artist. if we want her to somehow prove something else then, i reckon she has to do a different kind of album/song. ^_^

i miss her power-ballad songs and breath taking high notes though. :-D

I said it in first place, i agree with that. That woman has done it all. Celine has ABSOLUTLY nothing to prove. I would listen to any of her music. I hate country with passion, but i would still listen to her country album if she would decide to make one (if she's happy, im happy). I don't care what music she's into, her voice is perfection; and i will listen to her no matter what.

But what made me become a fan in 1st place was due to her powerful voice. I was 9 when i first notice her voice on radio (IACBTMN) I wanted to see what she was offering on her album Falling Into You, i bought it. I heard ABMyself, and that was it. It was the most beautiful and powerful voice i had ever heard. And i feel the same way 13 yrs later.

I just wish she would offer us the same feeling today with a new album full of those type of songs.

She's perfection, and i like to think that its a fact.

I do think she has to record albums only for pleasure, but also thinking of his fans. The hallmark of Celine's powerful voice. I agree with you that her to record an album in the style of falling into you, it was one of the best of it! I agree Celine's voice is prefection even without high notes. She could sing the yellowpages and it would be flawless. Whatever she releases i will buy : ) J'adore Celine!

The thing with TC is that Celine actually roars when she hits high instead of soaring. You see when she hits whatever note in TC the album, she does not do it in a feminine way, she actually puts pressure on herself to SCREAM instead of hitting a high note. The only song I liked in this album is Taking Chances. It's the song where she actually ventures into a pop/rock style.

Plus, I would love to hear another album in the colours of A New Day Has Come. Not a copy of this album but in the same energy.

That high note on Taking Chances, that high note of The woman in me, Fade away... she had never sung high notes like that on any of her albums. Those notes impressed me more than The Power of love. Without mentioning "a new dawn" , THE song that shows all her capacities, from very lowwwwwwwwwwww to very high.

We all know that she can belt like anybody else , she doesn't need to sing like that in every song...

I've said it before and I'll say it again... we need another album like ANDHC. It definitely had the perfect blend of songs for Celine and they all seem to fit who she is as person perfectly. Not to mention the success it may bring... I mean, chances are she won't pull another Titanic hit, but it should give a spot at the top of the charts. :rolleyes:

TC was a bit depressing, IMO... "Alone," "My Love," "This Time," "Song For You..."

We need another album (like ANDHC) that'll be a commercial success.

Edit: An album with a bunch of songs like "You and I" and "Ain't Gonna Look the Other Way" would work too.

I agree about ANDHC. Most of the songs on that album were spot on for her voice. And that's the kind of album that people want to hear Celine sing.

But - I would LOVE it if she would continue exploring and record a jazz album. And do a couple of duets - like with Norah Jones or Michael Buble. Even Annie Lennox!

Exactly!

Celine continues to provide albums worth of songs with so called "high notes" in them. So if you're wishing Celine would still prove herself, go and listen to the songs above which were recorded in the past few years.

Unfortunately what Celine has to do now to "prove herself", certainly to non-fans and to music critics, is to have another hit single. It's that which is, and has been for quite some time now, sorely lacking.

I don't think Celine Dion has to have another hit single to prove herself. And let's clarify --- the only people she has to "prove herself" to are younger people who are caught up in today's artists.

She is along the lines of Barbra Streisand now. She will continue to sell huge amounts of records -- but it will be among the people who do not control the charts. I see another number one ALBUM in Celine's future. Not another number one SINGLE. At least not in the U.S.

I really don't understand some people, when she records ballads, people say it is predictable and boring; when she records an album with edgier songs on them, she shouts... :shrug: I love ''Taking Chances''. In my opinion it is one of her best albums. Like someone mentioned earlier: ''New Dawn'' is brilliant. I absolutely love that song. I whish she had sung that on tour...

why does it matter if she is popular or not? why is it important how many #1 singles she had?

(I hope) she makes the music that she likes.

And why should she prove herself with big notes? I am more impressed with s'il suffisait d'aimer without big notes, than with, for example, All By Myself. For me, creating an atmosphere with your voice is more important then impressing people by how hard you can scream 'anymore'. (not saying she can't do it by the way)

I see that some people seem pretty "pissed off" about that topic (shaun and isurrender), but it wasn't my intention to offend anyone here.

I guess i shouldn't have expressed myself by saying "Prove herself", b/c she really has nothing to prove after her 30yrs of career. I could explain what i meant, but it would be long, plus english is not my 1st language, but i think most of people understood what i meant. (hopefully :S)

Im one of her biggest fan! I love Taking Chances, it was new, refreshing, "edge". I enjoyed listening to it, and still enjoying it...

The Reason I Go On is actually one of my all time favorite. (That one i feel she could have hit the note more at the end; just saying :wink: )

Im just expressing my opinion which is that I prefered powerful ballades like the ones in FIY, TCOML. Thats it. Im really not looking for a Hit Single either so she can be in the charts...

And i've listened to Map to my heart, New Dawn, This time, Alone, La diva, Et s'il n'en restait qu'une (probably more than you have, but lets not go there :wink: ) Love all of them. Although, I don't think you can compare those songs with ABMyself, I Surrender, TPOLove, TPOTDream, Sorry for Love.... Well i guess you can't compare any of the songs with another, they are all unique...

Well those songs are different.. but I would worry if all her songs were almost the same. I think it's a good thing she didn't stagnated in doing the things she always did, and just evolved her music, along with herself.
