Alex_Incognito Posted November 5, 2009 at 03:54 PM Posted November 5, 2009 at 03:54 PM Celine's post-hiatus albums have had fantastic vocals! That note on "Naked"? "I Surrender"? "Ne bouge pas"? "La Diva"? "That's Just The Woman In Me"? How can you get better than that? Lets face it, the Foster-Warren songs are a thing of the past. I also agree that she should focus on more jazz standards and ballads===some really timeless music. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
zuv Posted November 5, 2009 at 04:33 PM Author Posted November 5, 2009 at 04:33 PM (edited) Lets face it, the Foster-Warren songs are a thing of the past. Well, if that what it takes, I wouldn't be happier for them to come back. Why would they be things of the past? They put her at the top. I'm not asking for the same exact albums, but similiar to FIY TCOML. Music would also be much more different; more modern music. Why not come back to the origins? Its been 10 years now. I agree with Jazz, edge albums and new stuff like that (cause she can do anything with her voice) but that doesnt prevent her to make an album like we know of. Celine is Powerful Voice signer in the 1st place. If she wasn't... that forum wouldn't exist. Now i understand that her voice mature and that she doesnt have her 20yrs old voice...But we all heard her singing for tha past year. She can still pull it off. Celine Fan 77 Posted November 5, 2009 at 04:34 PM Posted November 5, 2009 at 04:34 PM Well, some of you guys are forgeting that Taking chanes is an album where Celine tried new sounds. I think that this album was a little special in that aspect, but of course, Celine's return album is gonna be like A new day has come, if it isn't better and is like Falling into you (Vocally). Alex_Incognito Posted November 5, 2009 at 08:34 PM Posted November 5, 2009 at 08:34 PM I mush, much, much prefer her styles of "D'elles" and "Taking Chances" as opposed to "Falling Into You" or "Let's Talk About Love." The latter two aren't as timeless. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

Claudette Posted November 5, 2009 at 09:17 PM Posted November 5, 2009 at 09:17 PM Yeah, I agree! And worst of all, people turned it into another promotion argument... I don't understand why this topic was created in the first place. People think that because Celine's new albums sound different and it does not contain ABM-notes that she doesn't hit high/big notes anymore, and the fact is that that is just not true. Her new albums have equally (if not better) vocals on them. It is still classic Celine, just a different genre. Quote http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af51/ClaudetteRobinson/esme.jpg

I keep throwing her flowers. I keep saying how amazing that woman is; how vocally shes the perfection. How versatile her voice is. Im just giving my opinion on the type of songs i prefer to listen to. I said it before, im gonna say it again: i love TC... from A to Z.TC was a suprise she gave to her fans, and it seems that everyone enjoyed it. Including myself. Great. I just think its time to come back to the source, with the powerful ballades. But hey! Im just giving my thoughts here, no one has to agree or support me... If it takes Rene, Celine, or the record label reading a thread like this to finally understand to release better singles with better promotion, then I'm quite sure there'd be a large number of people who would be more then willing to spam the board with more topics like this. Yeah, I agree! And worst of all, people turned it into another promotion argument... I don't understand why this topic was created in the first place. Anyway, it really is interesting looking at her voice evolve over the years. In the 90's... it was more about belting.... ABM, TPOL, TPOTD, NW, Immortality, IYAMT, WDMHBN, and others. There never were a ton of high notes in head voice. Since ANDHC, her only belt has really been I Surrender. On the tour, she had The Show Must Go On. But since TC, it's been more about high notes..... Taking Chances, Alone (tour style), Fade Away, IAMW, IGTMIM, RDMH..... So she is still hitting great notes...just not belts anymore. It's more so just high notes. Edited November 5, 2009 at 10:23 PM by Tyler1991 Quote

They give me some kind of energy. Love to hear her pull a high note, (belt or what ever yall call it) it makes my day . But theres always balance in everything. Actually "J'attendais", "In His Touch", and "Why oh Why" are in my top ten. And they are calm, soft songs... And if "at seventeen" was recorded in studio it would be in it too. You are right in part, that's true! But I think she can also stand out from the rest if she sings other kind of songs, soft or not. She can sing a calm song and still be the best to sing it, she's Céline Dion! I mean she sings equally good a low key song than a song full of high notes Only that we know by excess her high key profile, but very few of her soft and calm side. Anyone here loves If Walls Could Talk song, for example, or Falling Into You?? I would die to see her sing more songs like that! Edited November 6, 2009 at 12:40 AM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... Belle Céline Posted November 6, 2009 at 02:33 AM Posted November 6, 2009 at 02:33 AM Celine has already proved herself, she doesn't need to keep "proving" herself over and over again. She's already shown us she can hit the hit notes. Quote “There’s nothing I love more than the romance of a night in the theater.”http://i39.tinypic.com/ws0due.png
Moee Posted November 6, 2009 at 02:47 AM Posted November 6, 2009 at 02:47 AM Celine has nothing to prove :We got that!! However, if she wants to do another record I would be pleased to hear songs that are well-sung, the type you would expect from her: soft songs, dance songs, a ballad with a contemporary twist, jazz songs; All these will fit her style. I mean she is a versatile singer; however, you should listen to her while she is singing rock songs she actually doesn't sound like herself and worse maybe. Plus, if she always perform on her tours the songs from ANDHC, FIY and TCOML, that means that the wider public like these songs, so she could actually look forward in this direction and bring new songs that have the same sparkle as the old ones with a contemporary twist (new music, new lyrics, but same feeling) She could high notes that aren't as high as ABMS or Alone, but still show her vocal range that is similar to the one used in A new Day Has come (song) Quote
Tyler1991 Posted November 6, 2009 at 02:51 AM Posted November 6, 2009 at 02:51 AM (edited) But Celine never performed anything from ANDHC on her last tour. Sure, one song in one show, but that doesn't really count as it wasn't a regular part of the show...and then I'm alive, which I hardly consider as anything important.... it's as bad as LCMM before the remix and even worse afterwards. Even in Vegas..... you had ANDHC, IA, and IS...and then At Last and HYEBIL for a few months... that was all though. Edited November 6, 2009 at 02:53 AM by Tyler1991 Quote

Belle Céline Posted November 6, 2009 at 05:38 AM Posted November 6, 2009 at 05:38 AM I love Celine's music, high notes or not. People really need to give her a break, she's been doing this since she was practically a baby. I'll buy her music even if there aren't any high notes, I think her songs are "well sung". I disagree with the person above who posted saying that the music wasn't well sung. I also disagree with the same person who said she doesn't sound good singing rock songs. Sure it may not be her typical ballad but I still think she kicks butt at most the rock type stuff she sings. As I said before (please read my post on page 2) she needs to become more involved in the whole process. Take another example, the d'elles songs were hardly featured in the French countries she toured in, and hardly any of the songs from ANDHC were featured in this tour. She focused only on the hits. Celine is tired and understandably so. As I said a new day, countless albums and the TC tour it is way too much and I think she loves to sing but she needs a rest too right. Suggestions: who she is as a person needs to fit in with her songs and they NEED to take more time with the albums and songs. Less touring will also mean more rest and the songs can be songs she has never sung before not just the hits. Loads of suggestions that I think could work and I dont think her management could go far wrong from taking some of them on board. Stop bickering you guys cause we all love her! Quote
browseceline Posted November 6, 2009 at 09:26 AM Posted November 6, 2009 at 09:26 AM Why I like the big notes = because they give me the shivers! It really touches me if someone belts like Celine does!Like in my heart will go on, she belts too and I love it!I do think taking chances has some great songs where she belts too ) can´t fight the feeling for instance, and on tour she beltsalone much better then it had been recorded in the studio too! As for the Ballad-discussion-I think there will always be an audience for the balladsongs. Look at Aerosmith´s Don´t wanna miss a thing and Everything I do from Bryan Adams.. those were and still will be big hits. Or Where are you christmas or that nice song from Pearl Harbor.. all ballads.. and they score each time! They are timeless songs. The most of the songs nowadays promote themselves by mentioning Timbaland, NeYo and other R_B superproducers..but they all seem the same. They have a vibe, you can dance on them. they are popular for some time and then they are quickly forgotten and not hot anymore. And that is unfortunately the trend of the songs nowadays. So Celine could sure make a ballad album again and it will be great too, there is always an audience for it, maybe not the youngest generation but still she has got lots of fans. Otherwise the concerts would not have been so succesful as the TC tour! Sorry, hate to say it; but, chances of Celine having another #1 single are slim to none. If she were to release "Bleeding Love" or "Just Dance" ....she wouldn't have nearly the success with it that Leona Lewis or Lady Gaga had. Why? Those two do more than triple the amount of promotion Celine has done on her last album. And sadly.... when you say Celine Dion to people...well, she is already molded into peoples minds as one kind of artist. An artist that they unfortunately don't want to listen too... They won't even give her the chance. Sure, I like quite a few songs off of TC. But how many of those songs actually qualify as "edgy"? If releases and promotion were done 100% correctly, then maybe she could have a top 10. But chances of this happening are just as slim as what I said up above... The one thing Celine has that artists today don't has is a powerful voice that can do wonders. No one today is able to hit notes as high as she does, as long as she does, as powerful, as low...anything. I'd like to see her sing songs that maximize her voice to its fullest extent, similar to how she did before. Sure, throw in an "edgy" song or two.... but don't make her the same ordinary singer as everyone else today is, especially when she posesses a voice they don't. They're singing songs like that because they can't actually belt out a real song. Why the hell does she need to lower her standards? Like I said, you can say that Foster/Warren are a thing of the 90's...but as far as the American public (and charts) is concerned... so is Celine Dion. Quote
