Exactly and that is exactly the reason why Céline isn't very outspoken where it concerns politics, you would always hurt the feelings of at least some of your fans. Talking about love is very safe ;)

Actually that guy was not a fan but, as now it seems, he was a professional heckler.

As matter of fact, the "incident", contrary to what reported, happened just after Barbra had sung "Have I Stayed Too Long At The Fair?", not during the Bush sketch (just go listen to the bootleg for proof).

The political part of the show was over, Barbra had just sung a moving song and why did the so-called "fan" think it was the right moment to yell at Barbra?

Is this the way a "fan" should behave during a concert? Disturbing the singer and all the other people in the audience?

The truth is that we're not talking of fans here, we're talking of people who deliberately went there to disturb the show. They should have stayed home. And Barbra eventually made them shut up, as it should have been from the beginning.

This is what happens when an artist takes chances. And this is actually what an artist is supposed to do.

Barbra`s known to swear like that and she has a nasty temper too. I`ve seen her give the finger to reporters as well

I don't agree about 'taking chances' is something you're supposed to do as an artist. You can make a choice to support someone in politics, it a very personal choice based on lots of things. If you are an artist like Céline determined to make this world a little bit better, you will want to reach out to every single human being. Making a political statement is a possibility, but you'll be putting yourself right out there vulnarable for critisism for the ones that don't agree with your political point of view. Artists that appeal to the worldwide audiences, like Céline, have enormous power and are able to make a change! I'd rather see artists taking ACTION instead of saying that they support or don't support someone in politics. I think Céline's doing a wonderful job, and I think it's classy how she won't let herself be pushed in a certain direction but that she chooses her own way to make the world a better place!

It was a classic moment. She's all against Bush and has the guts to show it all the way. I support her for that.

I support her too and other artists against Bush.

Hm I believe that a person should stand for what she/he believes in, it doesn't matter if she's a nurse, a musician, a singer. Although I do agree that sometimes people have to 'behave' and choose carefully the words. So, Babs maybe did the wrong thing saying what she said, but I think that she has the right to show her opinion and stand for it.

There was a heckler at the Philadephia concert as well...wonder if it was the same guy :P

John Lennon paid a price for opposing the Vietnam War. The FBI had a huge dossier on Lennon's peaceful projects to protest the war. The Nixon adminstration wanted him deported for smoking pot. Lennon was put through many hearings although was never deported and finally got his green card.

Politics and music is nothing new. Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan as well as other singers all have used their notoriety for a political platform.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Some of Barbra Streisand's fans have some advice for the diva as she makes a rare U.S. tour -- shut up and sing.

Streisand, 64, an ardent Democrat, has used the opportunity of her first U.S. tour in 12 years to snipe at President George W. Bush, employing a Bush impersonator to sing a duet with her while blasting the administration's policies.

Not all members of her audience, who paid up to $250 for a ticket, have appreciated her politics. During a performance at New York's Madison Square Garden this week, one concertgoer yelled out, asking if the concert was a fundraiser. Streisand replied: "Shut the f--- up!"

Streisand apologized to the audience of about 20,000 people for losing her temper, but her outburst and inclusion of her political views in her show alienated some fans who have written to newspapers and Web sites to rebuke her.

One fan, Margaret Ferrante, said she was outraged to hear Streisand ridicule an audience member and any Republicans in the audience.

"She turned a display of her phenomenal musical talent into a profanity-laden attack on people who paid good money to see her," Ferrante wrote the New York Daily News on Thursday.

"I love her voice but could not in good conscience ever pay to see her perform again."

Another fan, John Culver, who attended the concert on the night of the heckler, said the man had been bothering the singer all night -- but slammed her anti-Bush skit

"Don't bite the hand that buys your record, Barbra. We all know your politics. Shut up and sing!" Culver wrote to the Daily News.

Dan Johancsik wrote to the Orange County Register in California to say: "Subjecting loyal fans to one's own sour grapes politics is flat-out immature."

Columnist Liz Smith in the New York Post praised Streisand's show -- but blasted the singer for making her concert so political.

"She apologized for losing her temper, and spoke of unity. But it is the very nature of her pointless parody that divides," wrote Smith.

A spokesman for Streisand said she had no further comment about the incident and no plans to change her show following the complaints. "It was just something that happened. There are a lot of people who are supportive of how she handled this," he told Reuters.

Streisand, who is America's biggest-selling female recording artist of all time with 71 million albums sold, is a well-known opponent of Bush, with several entries on her Web site (http://www.barbrastreisand.com) attacking the president and his policies.
