Celine's Best Ever Live Performance?

I think it's impossible to find just one performance and say it's the best, or at least it's too hard for me! I do have to say, MHWGO at Children's Day will always have a special place in my heart and because of that, it's probably my pick for best live performance. I fell in love with that song in 1997 and throughout the years would listen to it. When I was going through a real hard time in my life, I found the Children's Day performance and whenever I felt that things couldn't get worse in my life, I'd watch that video (I wasn't a Celine fan, at the time). There was something special about the video that gave me the message that it was ok to be sad because things would get better and I'll be stronger, which I am! I've fallen in love with almost all of Celine's song and have formed a special connection with some of them, especially BYLM, but there is nothing like the "first love".

I love looking through what everyone believes to be her best performances. I'll have to think about it. Most of mine have already been mentioned - but I will say that it made me SO happy when she started the Taking Chances tour - to see that she was singing songs from years ago...All by Myself and Think Twice, in particular. And some of her golden French songs came back!

 

It had to be SO rewarding for her to sing those songs again...and to break up the same ol' routine in Vegas.

I remember watching this when it was first broadcast but I was beginning to think I had imagined it as I have never been able to find the footage. The only performances of this song I have been able to find are the lipped version on TOTP and another on the Brian Connolly show. So I thought I might have been getting mixed up with the (amazing) TOTP performance of Think Twice where she also wore a red top.

 

I'm so glad you posted this and I'm so excited to have a 100% live version of this song. I always thought it would be impossible to sing and began to wonder if she may have lipped it when I saw her in concert in 1997. I know she sang it but I was only 14 so my concern with lipping was non-existent. This clip reassures me that she can deliver the song live and, what's more, it is much better than the recorded version. I absolutely love it when her voice breaks on big notes, giving it a raspy edge! Fantastic!

I can't pick my all time favorite performance, there are too many of them for me to choose only one and different reason to cherish them ... I've been a fan for so many years now and each year has brought unique Céline performances. Some have already been mentioned and I know there will be many more to come.

I know that Celine has given some amazingly beautiful and emotional performances in her time but my personal favourite would have to be "My Heart Will Go On" in Croke Park, Dublin on May 30th 2008 It amazes me that even after 12 years of singing the same song she can still bring such beautiful emotion to it..It's very few singers that can do that..

Only One Road is one of the very few singles done right. Such a gem.

 

About her best performance... if I would have to pick one it would be Je Sais Pas live in Arras. Say what you want about the last tour (yes it was rushed, yes it was too soon, yes it was not cohesive, yes it was 50% Vegas tracklist) but the performance reminded me why Céline is Céline. That and the fact that it's still worth sitting and listening through WHATEVER crap she may or may not release in future.
