I don't claim to speak for them, but I'm certain Sony Music would take the opinion that these discs are not genuine and were not produced under license or with their consent or authorisation. I suspect Western courts would uphold that view, but I'm not an expert. The Russian company that produced them and the store that sold them probably (or possibly) have different opinions. How a Russian court might view the issue I have no idea. As the AllOfMp3 saga demonstrated, there are often different views about copyright in Russia and the West. If you are the type of collector who collects unofficial and/or bootleg products then by all means buy the CD. But there is not a chance in hell that these are authentic releases. The seller is either a scammer or was scammed himself. These discs are always going to be worthless financialy as part of a genuine collection. Any other discussion on this subject is inconsequential to these basic facts. Anyway, the listing has ended already. Hasn't it? The reason I ask all this is that I'm in contact with the buyer and they're not sure how to play it from here. They don't collect bootlegs normally and because of what she said before the auction ended they were convinced she was genuine. I contacted the seller their behalf and the message from her is what I got. How should the buyer proceed as they're convinced now that the discs are fake? Hopefully the seller will agree to cancel the auction. If not then I'd still not pay and let the seller complain me if they want. Also I would report the seller at that stage. If I refine he search to include worldwide items (ie items for sale on all eBay sites) it gets reduced to 3,000. This has only been happening this week. Must be some kind of update glitch. Worldwide search takes items up to 9,966 odd each time. Quote
