Here is the HQ cover, you can see they used the Unison LP cover rather than the CD cover, as the text is smaller.

 

This release is very similar to the 3CD Original Album Classics released in 2010, so we'll have all these albums in card sleeves!

 

 

It's interesting how this release is Epic, as the last one was Columbia (just like everything else since 2005!). Maybe we're going back to the good old days of UK releases!

Extra copies? Wait 'till the boutique releases a boxset for TCSV.1, AND..LILV and Miracle CDs! They have loads of stock for those ones!

Well if its like that other release, the classic album collection, the albums are in card sleeves, so it's not about too much stock

 

Speaking of which, I wonder how many actual albums they still produce each year

The price is especially remarkable given the less than ideal condition of the picture sleeve. I can't imagine what an EX, NM or M copy would sell for!

I saw that too. I couldn't believe it when it went over $200 with the sleeve being in that kind of condition, but then when it shot up to over $700 in those last few seconds I just about fell out of my chair!

Well, it's been said that something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it .

 

Although in my opinion, a better question would be "is this a normal or exceptional price for this item?" and in this case it's very hard to say, because this is truly uncharted territory. This is the first time I've seen a copy of this item with a picture sleeve in 13 years of watching eBay (on and off with various degrees of seriousness). Given that a copy of this item without the picture sleeve (just the disc) sold for around $330 a few months ago, I expected this copy to go for more than that (on the basis that any picture sleeve is better than no picture sleeve) but I didn't have a clear idea of what the upper price range might be. Given how rarely this item is offered for sale, there might never be enough information to get a good idea of what a "typical" price for this item is.

It is an awful lot of money, and I certainly couldnt have afforded anything like that anount, but chances are you are never going to get another opportunity to get it and as long as you can afford it, then good luck to you. It's not as if the cd is normally on sale for £100-150 or that you are never going to be able to sell it on again for an equally high amount. It will always be in demand. John is quite correct. It's a very unique item and like all items of its ilk, all bets are off when it comes to putting an actual valuation on it.

It's become very hard to find lately. At one point (admittedly 8-10 years ago) it was much more common. But now, I'd say rarer than the "When I Need You" Brazil promo CD but more common than the "Make You Happy" Brazil promo CD.

 

I'd say a 9 based on the collector's list rarity rating standard. (However, even though I defined that standard, I now think it's too granular at the top end, and doesn't allow very rare items to be distinguished from one another in rarity. I was trying to create a universal scale that could apply equally to all items, no matter how rare. But in retrospect, the bottom end of the scale isn't particularly interesting, and there's too much information condensed at the top end.)

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking here. If you're asking how to estimate how rare a CD is and what price range it is likely to sell within, this is as much an art as a science.

 

As I've mentioned before, there's rarely any reliable data as to exactly how many copies of a rare CD are in circulation. All you can do to estimate prices and rarity is monitor the market - see how regularly particular CDs appear for sale and what they normally sell for. Seeing how many other collectors have particular items also helps estimate the number in circulation. Also keep in mind that market prices are not solely a function of rarity, so consider what makes an item collectibe, such as whether or not it has a unique song. remix or cover. If you keep all this in mind and keep an eye out, eventually you'll get a feel for the rarity and values of particular items. I know this might not be the most helpful answer, but there's not much of an alternative to experience.
