CSCfan Posted June 10, 2011 at 09:30 PM Posted June 10, 2011 at 09:30 PM I'd have to agree. Shania has always seemed like much more of a true "artist" than Celine. I love Celine, don't get me wrong, but Shania has always seemed to take more risks in regards to her material and not cave to what her "team" tell her. She does what she wants, how she wants it. (We've already seen what happens when, God-forbid, Celine wants to put "My Heart Will Go On" as the first song in a show.) Shania also covers a much wider array of material than Celine does. Songs such as "Ka-Ching!," "What A Way To Wanna Be!," "That Don't Impress Me Much," "I Ain't No Quitter," "Shoes," "I'm Jealous" and "God Ain't Gonna Getcha For That" are prime examples of her versatility as a singer-songwriter. Plus, the fact that Shania has openly stated that she will make it a priority to create a show in which new material can seamlessly be inserted at future dates is much more than Celine has ever done. (At least post-2000.) After having seen "Celine" and having watched the press conference on Wednesday, I can say, without a doubt, I have more faith in "Still The One" than I do now about "Celine." I agree with your "more of a true artist", but only for the fact she writes (& produces) her own material. Shania took risks because Mutt took risks and not cared for other's opinions. The main "problem" with Céline is René....not only is he her husband, but also her manager, which can be good....but most of the times it makes her stay in her comfort zone. Especially now.... Shania has a new manager, who's open to basically everything. She has a new husband who pushes her limits to do stuff she's never done before. So she's definately taking risks, but at their core their not just *her* decisions. We know how Céline is and how she can have a strong opinion, but to go against her own husband? And with 3 kids now? She cares less about her career and lets René *just do it*. And I think it's wrong to compare "Still The One" to "Celine". If you want to compare, compare "Still The One" to "A New Day...". Both their first show, both new and special. Both announced big and given enormous media attention. Etc. etc. Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY

I was comparing the press conference for "Still The One" to the already opened "Celine" to make a point. There was more artistry, more promise for originality and more promise for creativity in just the press conference alone than what has been shown already in the already opened "Celine." I was trying to use an extreme example to make a point. It probably didn't come across very well. I'm sorry for that. (Btw, I agree with every else you said.) Quote
Nmj Posted June 10, 2011 at 11:02 PM Posted June 10, 2011 at 11:02 PM Shania is going to be great, and this makes me sad that Celine has done this low-key stripped down show.. Its vegas so who cares if it will be over the top! it should be! Quote
sfbaysinger Posted June 11, 2011 at 12:07 AM Posted June 11, 2011 at 12:07 AM So ai haven't seen Celine yet, but from what I have heard, I wouldn't call it low-key.The only way Shania is more of an artist is in writing her own songs.is anyone else sad/upset/worried because Shania is coming? Granted we still have a year and a half, but still, it could take some of the attention away from Celine. But then again, she might feel like she needs to step up her game a bit to compete with her, even though they are friends. I just don't want anything to take away from Celine. She is "still the one" that Vegas loves! I don't even know why Shania is there, althoug I have always been a fan I must say. I liek her better country, but whatever she's a good singer all around! Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! L'amour existe encore pour elle!
Belle Céline Posted June 11, 2011 at 03:35 AM Posted June 11, 2011 at 03:35 AM (edited) I think she will do fine in Vegas. She doesn't have to be like Celine or do the same kind of show. RomualdlovesCeline Posted June 11, 2011 at 05:56 PM Posted June 11, 2011 at 05:56 PM I would a little bit worried for Celine's show because most of Shania's fans are from the US and Canada; she sings country songs with a bit of pop; so basically going to see Shania is more affordable for her main core fans that are in the same country as she is; on the other hand, Celine's fans are more international and have to pay a lot more to go see Celine. There are quite a few fans from overseas in Europe who I know aren't happy with the Las Vegas idea. Although, it's the same type of thing us Celine fans went through when "A New Day..." began. Over time I think the negativity about the show being in Las Vegas will subside. In my opinion, if something is important enough, one will find a way to make it work for them. That's my two cents. Haheather Posted June 11, 2011 at 07:59 PM Posted June 11, 2011 at 07:59 PM Watched Shania present at the CMT awards! I was so proud! lol! I can't wait for the next episode of Why Not!!!!! Then again.... what we "had" the last years wasn't something to be happy about either and the fact that we're finally getting something apparently still isn't right. It's hard to please everybody.. But it's a similar situation with Céline, people were fearing for the worst and she got some harsh critics when she went to Vegas for the 1st time and the rest is known... Its vegas so who cares if it will be over the top! it should be! Celine's been there and done that kind of show already. Quite frankly on AND you didn't know where to look - you missed so much. And so many people i spoke to were there purely to hear Celine. She doesn't need all the over-the-top stuff. Quote
ladylindsey Posted June 12, 2011 at 03:26 PM Posted June 12, 2011 at 03:26 PM Céline's show is PERFECT for me! She leaves me speechless every time. I have a feeling Shania's show won't be so much different than Céline's structure wise. Quote

RomualdlovesCeline Posted June 14, 2011 at 08:25 PM Posted June 14, 2011 at 08:25 PM I heard the today is your day song; I like the production; seems like David Foster hasn't lost his touch after all; now the vocals are a bit constrained; when the end of the song comes and she "should" have given a somewhat high note, her vocals don't help her; however, great song; the better she gets morally the better she would sing. CelineAndRene Posted August 7, 2011 at 03:04 AM Posted August 7, 2011 at 03:04 AM (edited) So.... I haven't been keeping up with Shania in a while, and needs somebody who can answer a question for me... While in Vegas, I seen a poster board for a Shania Twain show/concert @ The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on December 1, 2012. Is Shania getting her own show at Caesars? Or is this a one night only show? Please and thank you. I'll be looking out for tickets personally... PS: I have read the posts above so clearly this isn't new news. However, for me it is and would love if somebody could post links with more info for me to read about... Edited August 7, 2011 at 03:07 AM by CelineAndRene Quote "...It's the circle of life. You gotta look forward. Two days during the year there's nothing you can do about: yesterday and tomorrow. Today is a great day." - Celine Dion, People.
