With France + Canada it sold at least 2,200,000 copies, it charted very well in most countries in Europe and is the only french album (with D'eux) to be certified gold in the UK for at least 100,000 copies sold! Worldwide sales reach around 4,000,000 copies.

Apparently it is sold at a very low price in Ireland and in the UK, where it will re-enter the TOP30 sunday thanks to it!

i really think it is since i haven't seen any article claiming the 2nd best-selling album of all time is not Celine's. Besides, though wikipedia is not really that reliable but it's been stated there that S'il suffisait d'aimer is the 2nd best-selling french album of all time.

I have a list somewhere of the best-selling French albums of all-time - I shall dig it out.

 

But yes, Celine does hold the top two spots, and by a good margin - with Deux at around 7.5m copies worldwide (the 8m IFPI shipment for Europe is a glaring error), and SSD at around 3.9-4.0m worldwide. SSD:

 

Japan - 75,000

USA - 150,000

Canada - 500,000

Australia - 10,000

France - 1,800,000

UK - 150,000

Germany - 100,000

Switzerland - 130,000

Italy - 30,000

Austria - 40,000

Netherlands - 80,000

 

= ~3,100,000 in the above countries (I estimate these to represent around 80% of the album's worldwide shipments)

I don't think it's LAP and really not ACDS! that album wasn't that succesful in my memory! (and I still think they should have included The Reason on it...)

 

plus there are other huge French artists out there; Piaf, Brel, Aznavour etc... those people have album out for a long long time, so they probably sold well too

Of course they're making money on a £5 CD - these CD's cost a couple of pound to manufacture.

 

By the way, this is set to go top 40 in the UK again this week; if it does, we'll hopefully get an updated sales figure. I anticipate between 500-575k. Anything more would be an utter (and amazing) surprise!

Let's hope will know the total sales of MLEC in the UK. I Hope it has sold more than 500,000 copies! It could be Celine's best seller since ANDHC!

Yes, I estimate around 500-550k sold. Hopefully Music Week will give us some sales

 

Its gone up in the UK thanks to a HMV nationwide sale - 1 disc edition = £4. 2 disc edition = £5

It sold around 7,500 copies in the UK last week! With all the weeks out of charts, it has certainly sold well over 500,000 copies since its release!
