Xpresso Posted November 8, 2008 at 01:05 PM Posted November 8, 2008 at 01:05 PM By the way, does anyone know who the guy is behind Celine and Rene. He looks familiar but I can't figure it out... I don't know if he is the one you're talking about but the guy we see the most behind them with brown hair is a songwriter and singer called "Dumas". Or maybe you mean the guy with curly hair whom will be the great Robert CHARLEBOIS!!! I trusted my memory on this, I'll watched again the videos tonight and tell you if I see anyone else. For now that's the two guys I remember seeing. Yes, it is Dumas! I've been away from the Quebec biz for too long...Thank you Lou555. Quote
nuts2you Posted November 8, 2008 at 01:52 PM Posted November 8, 2008 at 01:52 PM After watching this I also cryed,It was so touching to watch, I still cant belive how many people just LOVE her.I dont think that here in the states, that you will never see a standing o for that LONG,.I dont care who it is , I do have one question, why didnt rene or celine mom stand up for her? They just sat here takein all this in. Quote
Teodora Posted November 8, 2008 at 05:10 PM Posted November 8, 2008 at 05:10 PM I just got around to watching it and all I can say is O M G! I have never seen such an emotional gala moment ever! Not at the Oscars, Grammy you name it. So much love coming from the audience. Celine was unbelievably moved, but, even more than her, it was her mom and Rene. I don't think I've ever seen Rene so emotional. His lower lip was trembling and he was just about to burst out crying. I'm sure he did so after the gala. Celine's speech was so beautiful, as was Luc's. The song the orchestra played was very beautiful too. Did I understand corectly? Was this piece of music writen especially for Celine's tribute, for her? The video they put together was amazing. I have one question about that too. At one point, Celine kisses a little baby. Is that RC? The clip is too short and I can't tell. Speaking of him, that was so cute "I don't love you, I adore you mommy". How can his mommy not be totally melted when it comes to her son?! We need to take some cheering lessons from these people. That's the way it must be done and I hope that for her last show of the Tour we'll give her even more than that. I loved the video, thanks for recording and posting it here. It's truely the most amazing tribute she's ever gotten. The World Music Diamond Award or any other she's received, don't even come close to this. Quote
SandyCeline Posted November 8, 2008 at 05:16 PM Posted November 8, 2008 at 05:16 PM I made the translation for all of you guys who don't understand french Gala de L’ADISQTribute To Celine Dion Luc Plamondon’ speech : I’m here to tell you a fairytale. Once upon a time there was a little girl and she lived in Charlemagne Kingdom. Around her cradle, there were 8 fairies, her elder sisters and they’ve always been good fairies for her, because there weren’t bad fairies in Charlemagne Kingdom. The parents, in their little kingdom, were big lords and they cultivated the music’s love as others cultivate their earth. The mother played the violin, the father played the accordion, and boys and girls fulfilled the house with music and songs. However, the Queen Mother had great ambitions for her latest little girl who spent her days singing in front of her bedroom’s mirror. So, one day, by a magic stick blow from the mother, the little fairy passed through the mirror to meet a beautiful rabbit, a beautiful rabbit who made her discover her wonderful land: the wonderful world of show business. And the little fairy becomes taller and taller and is transformed in a beautiful princess. And the beautiful rabbit becomes a hot rabbit, he marries his princess, and he transforms her in a queen and they had a charming little rabbit with a doubly royal first name: René-Charles (he must watch us at home). So, let’s talk about the serious things! Before paying homage to you, Celine, I’d like to underline the significance of the female singers have had in the music of Quebec. They have been our muses, they have been our idols. In France, when we talk about Quebecoise singers, we call them “singers with a voice”, because in the past in France, female singers were called female speakers because they didn’t use their voice very much. It didn’t change very much, nowadays. (Laughs)But in Quebec, Celine, you have had the opportunity that famous female singers open you the way. Since Alys Robi, going by Mrs Lucille Dumont, Monique Leyrac, Renée Claude, Diane Tell, Patsy Gallant, Nanette Workman, Marjo, and, of course, Diane Dufresne, all of them were exceptional singers and different the ones from the others, without forgetting the famous Ginette Reno, the one who was your model and with who you sang last summer at Quebec City, in this amazing show you dedicated to the music of Quebec. I was on the Plains of Abraham this evening and, believe me, this evening, the currency of Quebec wasn’t “I remember”, it was “Un Peu Plus Haut, Un Peu Plus Loin” ((a little bit up, a little bit far)). I’d like to thank you, Celine, for never giving up your maternal language and for doing, for each English album, a French album, and this is an example to follow for the young girls who are beginning. I also want to congratulate you for your generosity with your public, for your fidelity with your family, your friends, your lovers and with Eddy Marnay’s memories and with all the people who brought something to you during a time in your life, like Michel Jasmin, he’s here tonight, I met him. Congratulations also for your pride of being Quebecoise and congratulations for your humility in front of your tremendous success. You’ve always been the little girl of Charlemagne Kingdom. As you can see, I’m very emotional and very proud of being chosen to give you this Felix, this Felix Homage from L’ADISQ, after the Oscars, the Grammy Awards, the victories of music, the legion of honour, the order of Quebec, the order of Canada, the medal of Quebec City, the doctorate of Laval University. My god, it’s the only one you hadn’t receive, and, tonight. I think, you’re gonna be touched to receive this trophy, because it’s from people from the job you’ve grown in and they’re gonna follow you during your whole life. But, before receiving this trophy, there’s a surprise I have to present you, a BIG surprise! The Montreal symphonic Orchestra is celebrating this year its 75 years old and the orchestra is there tonight to play for you, my dear Celine! Celine’s thanks: Thank you very much.I hope they didn’t already cut us off. I have to say that seeing again my life in some minutes, it’s a shock. But what a beautiful shock you gave me!Dearest Luc, your words touched me so so much. My dear André, your music so beautiful went right to my heart. Mr Blanchet, Michel, maestro, thank you very much. Mr Nagano, it’s a big honour. Arigatô! I think it’s incredible. I started…the first time I went up on the stage of the Gala de l’ADISQ, I was crying, and tonight, I keep on crying. I think I guessed, behind these wonderful pictures we’ve just seen tonight, the magic touch of Stéphane Laporte and Julie Snyder. Thank you so much. Thank you. You made me realize how much life has always been nice, precious and good with me. It gave me, like all of you, so much love, so much happiness. Thank you Life, thank you all! To the ADISQ, I want to tell my gratitude for this tribute you’re paying to me and that I’m sharing with my mother, my whole family, the whole team who is around me. And to all the artists who were in nomination tonight, I say congrats, congrats, congrats! A thousand times congrats to all the authors and composers who create songs, those songs which help us to live better, which bring us love and peace. I had the privilege to receive several kinds of tributes during my career but, whatever are the honours paid to me and the prizes and trophies given to me, wherever it is in the world, my loving manager always brought them here, in Quebec. Because it’s here that everything I do make sense. It’s here, with all of you, that everything started and go on. Wherever I am in the world, I’m always here. I know you love me, and this is a big happiness, that’s really a big happiness I always be grateful for it. I have to say that being recognized at home it’s like being in my mother’s arms again and hearing her telling me “I love you”. I love you for a long time, me too, and I know that we’re gonna keep on growing up together. René-Charles, my big boy, I don’t like you, I love you. Thank you to all of you and Peace be with you. I loved the video, thanks for recording and posting it here. It's truely the most amazing tribute she's ever gotten. The World Music Diamond Award or any other she's received, don't even come close to this. Yes Theodora the music was compose by André Gagnon and arrangements for this music piece made by Montréal symphonic orchestra especially for Céline's tribute. And yes you're also right, when we see on the screen behing the orchestra at one point Céline kissing so tenderly a baby, it's her beloved René-Charles! It's the only time I thought to myself they should have showed us that part on full screen on our TV. Anyway what a wonderful and emotional tribute it was and very well deserved of course. To me, it was about time. They wanted to make a tribute to Céline ten years ago and Céline and René thought it as too soon in her career. Now it's a done thing...for now! I was so very proud that night of my fellow quebecers of course who represented so wonderfully my own feelings(sincere and long applause to show our love and admiration) about our Céline whom the people of Québec have watch since she was a little girl become this huge worlwide star and even more importantly watch this little girl grow into this amazing human being and woman, so beautiful inside and out. I was a very proud Céline fan that night and very proud to be a quebecer for whom Céline is the uttimate people's idol and a great role model for youth in general, for her perseverance and professionalism in her career but also for her human values and qualities. We'll be with her always..just as many of you I know! Bravo ma belle Céline, on t'aime!!! Quote
