celinerific Posted September 5, 2008 at 02:32 AM Author Posted September 5, 2008 at 02:32 AM Okay... I need to write it again, because I just do! I talked to Fara on the phone earlier. We chatted a bit, then she told me she had a friend she had to pick up from the airport on Saturday night. I asked her where her friend is coming from, and then she said Vancouver... And just now I realized that the last time I remember someone (not her) mentioning one of her "friends" in Vancouver, it was her boyfriend. *dies 50milion times!* Quote http://i58.tinypic.com/2qbub9c.png @ErikaTran | Insta: aireexwp | erikatran.com

stevethefan Posted September 5, 2008 at 02:48 AM Posted September 5, 2008 at 02:48 AM I'm telling you it's not really her boyfriend. She's just afraid to tell you that she's... (Alright I'll stop with the silliness!) Quote
KimboCosmo Posted September 5, 2008 at 05:06 AM Posted September 5, 2008 at 05:06 AM (edited) E, it will be fine...I mean, how long is the "friend" staying? It's not like they live there, so it will be over before you know it, and things will be back to normal! Calm down, everything will fall into place in due time Keep your chin up, and stay positive! celinerific Posted September 7, 2008 at 07:49 PM Author Posted September 7, 2008 at 07:49 PM (edited) Awwwe. Thanks, Kimba! But OMG. Saturday was both great and stressful. I'll start off with what happened at the meeting in the morning. Fara arrived late - 15 minutes after the meeting had already started. She walked by me and smiled . Then after the meeting was over about an hour and a half later, she went outside to talk to some people and then came back in about 5 minutes later. She saw me and was like, "Heeeyyy!" and the thing is, I was holding my coffee tumbler in one hand and my cell phone in the other so I didn't exactly hug her like I usually would, so THIS TIME she was the one who initiated the hug instead of me! I'd think that's a step up! For some reason I was taken a bit by surprise, so I tried my best to hug her back and patted her back with my tumbler LOL. Then later on we just talked a bit and then I gave her the charging thing and the USB cable for my camera so that she could finally upload the pics an videos onto her computer so that she could me back my camera that evening when she came to work... But there's also an ironic thing to that, which I will talk about in a bit. That evening she came into work at about 6:00pm. She told me she needed to leave early that evening to go pick up that person from the airport, which turned out to be a business guy that she and two of her managers were scheduled to go greet at the airport together (what a relief! ) Now, she didn't want the managers to know she was leaving to do something for her other job, so she told a fib and said there were some family problems (me and Lisa were in on it too lol). But the managers were being a$$holes and wouldn't let her leave (her shift originally ended at 10pm, but she wanted to leave at about 8pm). At about 7pm, two customers at one of Fara's tables dine and dashed. In other words, they walked out and didn't pay. Fara was furious, before she told me, I was going to go tell her that the managers weren't going to let her go early. I went up to her and prepared myself to tell her the bad news... "Fara...""Could you give me two seconds, please?" (She said this very calmy - she was really nice even when she was exploding.)"Yeah, sure. What's wrong?""Two people just walked out on me. I gave them the bill and then gave me an associates discount card, so I went to the manager to help get it discounted and when I came back, they were gone!" At that point, I felt myself boiling up. I hate it when people do that, it's so vulgar and dishonest. It has happen two times before since I've been working at the Swiss Chalet and it gets to me every time. Fara ended up having to pay for them, which didn't make her any happier. So I gave her some space to cool down for awhile, but before long she was fine and was smiling at me again. It was approaching 8pm and she was panicking because she HAD to leave. I had told her they wouldn't let her leave early, but she said she was just going to walk out if they didn't let her. But later, she somehow convinced them to let her leave early. She ended up leaving half an hour late, but Lisa and I had her back. Lisa said she would finish her sidework and then she went to clean the rest of her (three) tables. I stopped her and said... "Okay... listen to me. Just go, okay? I'll clean your tables. Just go. Knock 'em dead!" She smiled and went to tally up how much she had made that night to hand into management. Before she left, she stopped by me and said, "Thank you sooo much for all your help tonight, Erika. I really appreciate it. I love you so much!" I nearly died LOL. Again... SHE initiated that and SHE had said she loved me instead of me having to have said it first. I replied to her saying, "I love you too! And you're VERY welcome!" And right before she walked out the door, she stopped by me again and gave me a hug. While she hugged me, I told her, "Good luck with everything! You deserve all the best." Then she smiled at me a big happy smile, then she turned to hug Lisa, then she left. That night was stressful with all the fibs to get her out of work early, and also because of the f***ed up couple who had left without paying... But I think we took a nice step forward. We talked more than before - I feel a LITTLE less nervous approaching her and I'm coming up with a bit more to talk to. Hopefully we'll advance even more soon! Oh... and the ironic camera thing. She came into work and I asked her if she had my camera. She said she did and asked me if I wanted her to give it to me right then, and I said no and asked her to just plop it in my bag before she left, but unfortunately, she forgot and now she still has my camera... Gosh, Fara... lol Edited September 7, 2008 at 08:05 PM by celinerific Quote http://i58.tinypic.com/2qbub9c.png @ErikaTran | Insta: aireexwp | erikatran.com

Petra5 Posted September 15, 2008 at 06:50 PM Posted September 15, 2008 at 06:50 PM Quote ...it's stupid
celinerific Posted September 15, 2008 at 10:36 PM Author Posted September 15, 2008 at 10:36 PM (edited) Fara is 26. And here's exactly what the e-mail said... Some of my friends think is a great e-mail and very articulate and that she would understand where I'm coming from. I on the other hand was simply not mentally-prepared to send it out, then I stupidly and accidentally sent it out. I can only hope that they're right, because right now I'm just freaking the f*** out. Hi Fara. I've been keeping all of this inside for too long now. But, let me begin by saying that despite anything I'm about to say, I still love you to pieces. First of all, I don't understand why it's such a bad thing for me to interview you one on one. You keep insisting that Lisa should be there with us even though it's an extremely tight schedule and our work schedules don't run together smoothly at all. Am I intimidating to you in some way? Do you not want to be seen with me? I want to know what it is and I don't want you to feel uncomfortable around me or hesitate when I ask if you want to go out. I know you're a great person, without a fraction of a doubt. You've been one of the nicest people at the Swiss since I've begun working there and I'm ever so grateful for your kindness, and from time to time I like showing appreciation for all that you've shown me. I took you to the Celine concert because I knew you'd get a kick out of it and because I knew you deserved that $1000.00 seat. I wrote your essay because I knew you've been crazy busy lately and really needed some help. I've been trying to help make things easier and more pleasant for you, but sometimes I have to admit that I don't exactly feel like you want to be around me unless there's something you need. I'm sure that's not your intention, and I don't mean to sound like a complete b****, but that's how I'm feeling at the moment - a little used. My first thought is that you feel uncomfortable around me because of my sexual orientation and I would never want you to feel that way because of that. And I would never want something that sit between our friendship as an obstacle. My second thought is that you're thinking about our age difference, and I just don't see how that can result to be an issue. I'm getting the impression that you see me as a kid. But let me tell you now that I'm not as kid-like as you may think I am. One of my three best friends is 25 years old. We talk almost every single night despite the fact that she lives in the United States. We've laughed and cried and have been through a hell of a lot together, all the while still being so far away from one another (in addition, she's coming for a visit in December). I've been able to withhold many strong friendships in some of the farthest places on the planet. I even have a close friend in Australia who is 21 years old and she's coming to visit me in February. I have friends all over the world of all ages and ethnicities and I love them all equally. I just want you to know that you haven't opened the book yet. You've seen the cover, maybe the forward, but not yet the first chapter. I wish you would be a little more willing to talk to me, because I'm interested in knowing more about you, your background, and the things you enjoy most. But then again, if you don't want me to know more about you, then I don't know what I was thinking taking you to the concert and writing your essay and trying to slip into your friendship circle. Tell me, Fara... Am I wasting my time, or should I give this another shot? Best regards,Erika Tran Edited September 15, 2008 at 10:44 PM by celinerific Quote http://i58.tinypic.com/2qbub9c.png @ErikaTran | Insta: aireexwp | erikatran.com

amyja89 Posted September 16, 2008 at 07:37 AM Posted September 16, 2008 at 07:37 AM Oh my! That's a little shocking! So has she been ignoring you lately or something?
