oh by the way on taiwan's 1 disc version they won't include the my love medley because of the length of the disc.... it would probably exceed the length..

but it will include in the 2 disc version though..

This is going to be the best compilation ever!

 

I think in Finland we will have a double version which has There Comes A Time and Dance With My Father, but not I Knew I Loved You on it.. but then again One Heart should be on it (which appears in the French additional tracks list). Wonder what is this version. Though it's really the same for me.

My contact said earlier that both versions would be released but now only the Ultimate Collection is listed on the Sony website (and on other websites too) so I don't know..

Taiwan version of Sarah McLachlan's Closer album also has a hidden track 'Closer Medley'. I got the album today, and it's just a cut of the hits into one track, like the one used in TV commercial. So, I believe it's the same for Celine's My Love Medley... just a cut of several hits.

Yeah, it's simply the same music used for TV or radio promotion. Now I am looking forward to the special booklet.

 

BTW, the prices of the single CD and double CD editions of Sarah McLachlan's new album are only differentiated by US$1 dollar in Taiwan, about US$11.40 and US$12.40., respectively. Hope it would be the same for Celine's new album.

i'm pretty sure the My Love Medley will include her same old hits, all remixed together and will last more or less 8 minutes. that has become a tradition for some GH albums. (Spice Girls, Madonna, Michael Jackson), and i don't care if i'll not have or even hear it.

 

i normally buy 2 copies (or more) of every celine's new album, but i doubt i'll do that this time. after all i don't have to own the same songs in 3-5 different cds in different orders. i'll just buy 1 copy of the 2 cd set. i'm sure i'll be more than fine with that.

AC/DC(/released yesterday) are going to sell around 800k 1st week in Usa so their second week will be I think a strong one around 350-400k enough for another #1 during Celine's week debut. While high school musical flopped big time its debut is around 250-300k

 

so my prediction:

 

#1 AC/DC (second week)

#2 Rascal Flatts

#3 PInk(dunno if this album will debut with more copies her last album sold 126k)

#4 High School Musical 3

#5 Toby Keith

#6 Celine Dion (if we are lucky, thanks to Oprah she will sell around 100k)

If she sold 100K first week in the US that would phenominal. Sarah McLaughlin's greatest hits fell well below that mark....just a couple of weeks ago........I"m guessing with Oprah apperance Celine should manage to sell at least 85K-100K first week no problem, but with a few talk show visits in Novem/Dec prior to holiday she should be a consistent seller when people are aware a 'best of' of hers is out! Well, after listening to the Japanese single for "A World To Believe In (Himiko Fantasia)" I seriously believe that "There Comes A Time (Let Me Be Your Soldier)" should have been released as the leading single from the new Essential album. The live version for "My Love" is simply too weak in my opinion. There are too many quiet spots for this live song to be a great radio hit. Could I be wrong? Yes. However, I think "There Comes A Time (Let Me Be Your Soldier)" could have made a bigger impact than "My Love (Live)" did.

I like 'My Love', but definitely not as a single. I knew it wouldn't work well in radio stations...

And I do not 'love' it in fact.

I 'love' much more TCAT than ML. As you said, TCAT is much more powerful, and I'd add, that fans possibly know the story behind ML... but general public not... so they just can't feel moved by this song, unless they LOVE it.

Agreed. It's no surprise to me that the version radio is deciding to play is the "Single Version"/"Radio Edit" instead of the "Live Version." I MUCH prefer the "Album Version" to the "Live Version."

 

Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking that it's a live track in and of itself. There are plenty of live tracks that have worked for other artists in the past (ex. Mariah Carey & Trey Lorenz's, "I'll Be There"). However, I believe a different Celine song could have worked better as a live track to radio. "I Surrender" from A New Day... comes to mind. But, alas, Sony lived up to my expectations on THAT one!

 

I do hope "My Love" does well on the radio if for no other reason than for Celine to have another hit to her name - a very personal hit at that. My one wish, though, is that after the "My Love" hype has died down that Sony will immediately release "There Comes A Time" to radio. Otherwise this new Essential album will be an even bigger waste of a release than I currently feel it is.

Joe, Totally agree with you.

 

My Lurrrvvvee live or studio is another safe choice from the Taking Chances album. Very safe to release to radio after the Alone flop.

Maybe there will be release of TCAT- Much more risky and more likely to stir up some talk.
