Javito Posted April 7, 2008 at 01:41 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 01:41 PM I think this can serve as a warning for both Céline and René about how they are doing things the last years. And most of all, I hope this serves for them to analyze what the hell they are doing with her career and what are they doing (still) in the hands of Sony Music! I've told it cent times, "be careful Céline" of what are you saying about your career and where does she want to be today. She has told so many many times that her career is not important and has talked so much about her song that I think the music business have took account of that. Someone needs to open Céline and Rene's eyes and explode the bubble they are in since 2003, so I hope this serves for Céline and René to make better music and release the great and well produced songs they use to do in tha past Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Xpresso Posted April 7, 2008 at 03:50 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 03:50 PM To Gonzalillo - Céline didn't say her career is NOT important. She said it's NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT priority anymore... There is a difference! Now, OK fine. Feist had a good year commercially (thanks to the iPod commercial) and she was recognized by the Junos. It took her a long time for that. But what I am the most upset about is that the Juno organizers are using Céline's name to promote the Junos (with 6 nominations) and then they don't vote for her. I think they want to make her look bad because we know the medias will write "Céline Dion who had the most nominations was shut out"... By the way, Avril Lavigne (with 5 nominations) was also shut out. Anne Murray as well - and Michael Bublé was also shut out by the Juno voters (except that the only award he got was voted by the fans)... The Junos are not very creative. When an artist has a good year, they tend to just recognize that one person and that's it. All the others have to wait for their "year". Céline had many of those years and the people in the industry just get upset when Céline wins because she has so many awards. And that same industry is really happy to see that Céline hasn't won anything. That's what I don't like!! But don't forget that Taking Chances was one of the best selling album of the year in Canada and the industry knows it!! That's how Céline can still show them that she is still very much alive in the business... Quote
Your_Su_Phu Posted April 7, 2008 at 04:22 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 04:22 PM it might have to do with trying to gain some credibility for the juno's. most of these artists who got shut out are not critical darlings but rather commercial succeses vs feist who is a canadian artist who has been receiving a lot of critical acclaim lately all over - not just in canada, including grammy nominations. it really was feist's year though Quote
Tan Posted April 7, 2008 at 04:54 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 04:54 PM Well last year was Nelly Furtado's year with her ''Loose'' album. It was good but very, very commercial. Quote
stevethefan Posted April 7, 2008 at 07:00 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 07:00 PM It's sad but I'm really not that surprised that she did not win. But remember years back when there was some controversy at the Juno awards when she would not accept it because of some issue with her not being able to sing a francophone song at the awards (I think). It was some sort of protest by her or something. I'm not explaining it correctly but I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about. Hey Céline has got plenty of awards on her mantle. Although it would have been nice to have gotten one for either Délles or TC, she already has a boatload of them! As for the direction of her career, even though she's still fairly young, I don't think at this point in her long career that they really need to change anything. She's doing what she wants to. She's older, and doing what she wants. She could have easily and rightfully either taken a long break after LV or just quit altogether, but instead she has gone full steam ahead with two albums and a huge tour. Quote
JP Posted April 7, 2008 at 08:15 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 08:15 PM Was D'elles nominated? Didn't she even win anything for that? One of the best selling albums of 2007 and she doesn't win a thing? No, Daniel Bélanger win.. Celine is not the only french people with talent in Quebec I think he also win with Celine at the Adisq back in 1994 Quote http://static-illicoweb.videotron.com/illicoweb/static/webtv/images/content/player/TVA_Celine_Dion_Sans_Attendre_Vf_WT_Poster.jpg
Del Posted April 7, 2008 at 08:49 PM Posted April 7, 2008 at 08:49 PM Del, are you actually a fan of Celine's? Oh course I am not. I think she should win never an award. there's someone that deserves to be recognised more then she. This year it happened to have been Feist with her breakthrough album. Now Feist is my kind if music and I do recognise when someone needs to be acknowledged (sp?). Celine has won many awards in the past. It's time for the new generation to show themselves and they are, because céline is, with 40 years now, too old to win anything. you traitor!!!!! I ought to fly over to Holland and persnoally slap you silly. Quote Instagram: @delphis78

I think you are talking about when she refused an award because she was nominated in the English artist of the year category. But this was for the Gala de l'ADISQ in Quebec (Felix) not the Junos. Then they created the category named Artiste francophone qui s'est le plus illustré dans une autre langue que le français. Quote

nystrele Posted April 8, 2008 at 02:43 AM Posted April 8, 2008 at 02:43 AM don't even ask what i think about feist... i've always treated canada with great regard.... but this year's juno's were as off the mark as every modern grammys in america... feist... herbie hancock... it all smells pretty absurd to me. grrrrrr! Lawna Posted April 8, 2008 at 04:56 AM Posted April 8, 2008 at 04:56 AM 1...2...3...4... Fiest please sing no more... The song is catchy, but when i watched the full music video I was like WTF is this??? I do agree Celine should have been recognized with Artist of the Year, because she did hit #1 with both album correct? Whatever though...and Celine is not to old to win an award, Talent has no age Quote They go crazy for you because they know you're true. --Celine Dionhttp://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz226/Congenialdiva/myspacelink.jpgFollow Me on Twitter!Visit Me on Facebook!
