Dion is nominated for a leading six prizes including two album of the year nods for her English and French language albums, Taking Chances and D'elles, respectively. Also up for album of the year: The Reminder, by Feist, crooner Buble's Call Me Irresponsible, and The Best Damn Thing from rocker Lavigne. Honouring the best in Canadian music, the Junos will be handed out this year at Calgary's Saddledome on April 6. Montreal's Arcade Fire, Burlington, Ont. band Finger Eleven and perennial faves Blue Rodeo received three Juno nominations apiece. Another Burlington, Ont. group, The St. Alvia Cartel, is up for best rock album for their self-titled debut. CityNews.ca will be speaking with the St. Alvia boys Thursday about their first Juno nod, ahead of their concert that night at the Mod Club. Check back for that story on Friday. Lavigne, Feist, Anne Murray and opera singer Measha Brueggergosman will perform at the show this year. She's received several nomination for the Grammys and Juno voters tend to award those who are well received south of the border. Havng 2 albums in the same category for Celine is great but I highly doubt she'll win. I hoe she does though. Quote
