my dad bought me the Deluxe Edition of E=MC2 and it is in a digipak cause he didn't know i already have it. and it includes a MARIAH E=MC2 VIP card, #1658. pretty weird as i don't know what is it for...

I'm not going to argue with that. Fact is, Mariah's doing amazingly well in America, doing well in Europe and Asia. My point wasn't about the biggest markets. It was about how well she's doing WORLDWIDE.

Mariah Carey didn't just perform for audiences in New York. Her concert for Good Morning America was broadcast in Boston and Atlanta, where fans gathered to watch live simulcasts. In mid-May, Carey will jet off to the Middle East, performing a "private concert" in Dubai.

 

She is also set to perform at MTV Video Music Awards Japan on May 31.

nikos look at the Post #854. i posted the card there. the sales lady gave that to my dad for purchasing the Deluxe Edition of E=MC2. that is a hard plastic card (like an ATM card). you can see it above. my VIP # is 1658. so i guess it is for her promotion here. i don't really know but she has a huge fan base here. E=MC2 sold 33.000 in UK u call that doing great? If I remember well, Celine sold 55.592 in her first release week in UK and everybody here said it was a flop.

For me, it all depends on what week the album is released and the competition they face. So regardless of the position and sales an artist achieves, there will always be people saying "Oh well it happened because of X situation." In the end what counts is the total sales of the album, not the chart position. There is a great friend of mine who is a huge Madonna fan, and when he's reminded of the poor sales of "American Life" in the US, he states "Well, it was a number one album, so all of that is what counts to me," and if you mention now that "Touch My Body" was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and "4 Minutes" went to number 3, he'll say "Well, Madonna has sold more digital units than Mariah, so that's what matters. In the end what matters for some is not just the peak position or the sales, but the hatred you may have towards another artist.

 

Which is okay for me. I don't care. I am not a huge huge Mariah Carey fan as I am of Celine's, but if I like a song I'm gonna go ahead and admit it. I think "Glitter" and "Charmbracelet" were kinda disastrous, but I love "E=MC2". I don't care if Celine or Mariah or Madonna or whomever is the world's greatest seller. I care about the music.

The funny thing is, even though the music critics loathe Celine here, she gets way more promotion than almost .any other female international artist. Well, almost. Shakira, Britney, Kylie and Beyonce top the list

MTV/BET Appearances Cancelled Again

Mariah's appearances on MTV's TRL and BET's 106 & Park which were scheduled for tomorrow (April 28) have been postponed. The appearances will be rescheduled when the "Bye Bye" music video is ready to be premiered.
