"Eyes On Me" to be second single in UK!

I Personally think Eyes on Me was the wrong choice of single anyway - especially for this time of year its summery if anything. Its not edgy and I do agree its kinda like trying to be something she isn't.

The production on the song is very pop and her voice is so shrill that probably non fans would not be won over by it and it has been largely ignored everywhere apart from Radio 2.

I think its a cool song and is great for "something different" and to spice up the album just like in the past with Love Is All We Need, Treat Her Like A Lady, Make You Happy, Rain, Tax etc styles that she isn't known for but work well on albums and in live shows. They have been trying fresh upbeat stuff from Celine since TTWII and that was the only really successful track. THLAL was next, then I'm Alive, then IDAN and One Heart now Eyes on Me - they don't work well on the singles market. They are simply not cutting edge enough. Too Middle of the road. I;m Alive was dated when it was released. Its songs like A New Day Has Come that touch chords with people and that was obvious with the chart positions. Yes, times have changed but A New Day Has Come was soft and quite slow for radio at the time but it didn't stop it being an amazing track that people warmed to all over the world. Mesmerizing vocals from Celine helped as well.

I really think Sony should continue with Taking Chances and show confidence in the album. Keep pushing it and releasing singles. People need to hear more new music from her. The General Theme is rock so it needs 2 or 3 singles with that in mind so people catch on its different. Alone would have done better, cover or not - people love it!! plus there hasn't been a cover of Alone that I know of released. Fade Away - if there is to ever be an upbeat hit, it will be this. This Time. I am now warming to I Got Nothing Left as a single as it not only has the ne-yo factor but its amazingly sung and I think people will really notice her incredible voice in it rather than like it is on Eyes on Me (which really could be anyones song)

Failing all that just release "The reason I go on" and all radios will breath a sigh of relief that celine is BACK.....lol

I totally agree with you! I would also add Shadow of Love as a possible single. It's amazing!

The midweeks that come out on Tuesday are usually a fairly accurate reflection of how the chart will end up on Sunday. Of course positions will change here and there but not majorly. This single will do well to make it inside the Top 100 because my sources show the single currently at #110.

An absolute disgrace but what can they expect. No video - no airplay - no promotion - no appearances from Celine = FLOP.

Defend it all you want but the fact is this will be Celine's worst charting single in the UK ever, and we all screamed out for a physical single after Taking Chances was cancelled and still she cant chart very well. I honestly wonder what Sony, and Celine, have to do now. What's the next move to market the album? Singles don't work, Celine cant be on TV every week doing a TV special, she cant be in the UK all the time.

So now we are left with a single outside the Top 100 and it'll do well to sell over 2000 copies by the looks of things, and the album is sliding quickly down the charts too. Is this now the end of "Taking Chances"?

i dont get why sony bmg relesed "eyes on me" in the uk i have it but when i called hmv uk to check it was relesed cos of what happened with taking chances in the uk they told me they only got 15 copies in for the relese date at when i called at 12 noon they said no 1 had bought any there were no posters in the window no advertising of it at all i hate sony bmg uk why doesnt rene re-sign with another record company 1 that will support and push all celine meterial.

also just to add i think shadow of love,fade away,this time and cant fight the feeling would make better singles and it keeps the theme of the album ie rock inspired .

Well you know the problem with Sony and Céline's team, is that they depent on old (succesful thus reliable) values.

LUNDIN = TTWII = SUCCES

LUNDIN = IA = SUCCES

so their conclustion is

LUNDIN = EOM SO THIS WILL EQUAL SUCCES

But franky it's the worst uptempo song of the album IMO! They should have gone with Alone first, then EOM! This is a summer song, not a winter uptempo! :rolleyes:

Rick Wake used to be the one who'd do 'something different' for céline, and most of the time the songs turned out great, but were never a single. Now they have Lundin to do this different track for Céline, and the outcome isn't really that good... but it does get to be a single! :doh:

It bothers me that Céline's best album since FIY is being flushed away by the lack of promotion and the pour single choice!!! Céline can't be everywhere, but she could record a video on time! She usually does it in 2 days anyway! :rolleyes: And of course if you're going to make remixes of the song, don't hire amateurs!! :evil:

It would be nice to have a successful single in the UK but it is just not going to happen, had they released "Taking Chances" we may have had a top 20 but no more than that.

In the UK Celine is Primarily an Album artist and her albums do well, her singles just do not and it now happens with a lot of established artists. The UK charts are made up of Rock, R & B, Dance and Reality show winners nothing else, mostly all young artists and older established stars tend to sell less. A good example recently was "Bruce Springsteen", his album was number 1 for two weeks but his single stopped at number 96.

I do feel if sony released "Alone" with a video ect it would have been a moderate sucess and would have helped the album.

EOM was not a good single to release as it is not what Celine is known for and when releasing singles she should stick to Ballads. I agree that "I Got Nothing Left" would be ideal or just get "Alone" out

And nearly all dates are sold out for the UK tour...

She has had a fantastic year and very successful...This single flopping isnt a major thing, think of all the good and not the bad

I think we will have to accept that Celine won't ever come close to the single success of 1995/1996 anymore. She will continue to sell albums but her singles career is nearly dead.

? According to some websites (Amazon and Hmv) the single was in top 10 all week, she's at number 8 right now, she was number 5 on amazon yesterday. Also the single is not in stock anymore but available within 6 to 9 days which means it's selling good. She's on BBC playlist for couple of weeks now, many of you said that there were only a few copies left in the stores where you bought it and that a lot of stores don't have it anymore cause it's sold out so... How come this is a flop and how come such a bad position on a sale chart? And most of all, I'm sick and tired reading a lot of you trashing the song and whining how it was a huge mistake to release it in the first place and how it's the worst song on the album. Geez, can you for once NOT trash something just because you don't like it. For instance, I don't like A song for you but it doesn't mean I'll trash the song or whine in every single post if it becomes a single (with Sony everything is possible

well I do agree 95 procent with you... but still for 5 procent...Eyes On Me just isn't a good song! And when the remix to surport it, is crap to, then it's doomed! Couldn't agree more with you on this. A lot of people here thinks that Fade Away would be a sure hit. Sure, it's a great song but in my opinion, so was Eyes on me and so was Taking chances and yet both flopped so...obviously there's something wrong, the songs are amazing, Celine tries as hard as she can promoting the songs but as usual Sony is doing one big fat NOTHING and that is the main problem. The only thing they're doing these days is re-releasing the old albums over and over again.

It doesn't matter what online websites are saying in their charts! The fact is the song is no-where to be seen on Itunes which pretty much makes the UK singles chart these days. Plus no video = no exposure on TV. Without wishing to draw comparison even Britney found time to make a video and look at her life just now. Sure should would've charted well anyway but a video still helps.

"Eyes On Me" was / is a great choice for a single and fits in perfectly with the whole "Taking Chances" theme. With some support from Sony UK the single could've at least made the Top 40! No-one knows it's out and by the looks of it even Radio 2 have dropped it now. What a shocker that is, dropping a single that's sitting at #114 in the midweek charts with less than 1000 sales!

Nothing will change, nothing, unless Sony UK and whilst we're at it, Celine, show a bit of interest. They could release every single track from "Taking Chances" as a single but unless they PROMOTE IT Celine will continue to struggle in the singles chart.

Well I was trying to be optimistic.......it's definitely not a 'hit' single.........Radio won't play Celine anymore......unless she has a killer track. Eyes on me is just retarted to her 'average' fans who like her ballads and midtempos......they hear and say 'oh for god's sake'........

They gotta get her next single right......and promote the HELL out of it.....and give more then three weeks before they release the single.

Oh, and i was thinking.....why didnt sony make a video for this song....if they REALLY thought it would do well and wanted to pump it out they'd make a freaking video or are they moronic enough to sit back and think "Oh its Celine Dion.....we dont need a video shes so popular" WRONG. OR they may have very WELL knew the song would tank and for some queer reason decided to release the damn thing anyway but didnt want to waste budget on a 'flop' single!

OK.. going through youtube, I found this video for the song and it looks good. If Sony/Celine is not intent on shooting a video, then maybe they should just pay this guy his dues and use this videos instead :giggle:

PS. Sopha, there aren't any Celine riding on elephants and dancing wearing a saree, but there are lots of Bollywood stuff to please you in this clip
