tonybower Posted May 8, 2008 at 02:05 PM Posted May 8, 2008 at 02:05 PM (edited) The playbacks are positioned to rest her voice. At the start, they ease her into the show and at the end she doesn't have to worry that she gave her all during Man's World and RDMH etc and that there's nothing left for the song everyone expects her to sing wonderfully and perfectly each night. That's exactly it. With everybody talking debating about her use of playback this past year I was really beginning to worry, having spent so much money on tickets. After seeing three shows now, I will not accept any criticism. Her voice is as good as ever. Vegas definitely had an impact but it seems to me that she has really been working on it and her voice is much stronger and clearer now. She has to mime MHWGO because too many people will complain if she doesn't get it right. After hearing My Love, Think Twice, Fade Away, Taking Chances, Show Must Go On and, of course All By Myself all live I would never complain that she sings some songs in playback. I would pay full ticket price just to hear these songs alone. Even Shadow Of Love, which is not a favourite of mine, sounds amazing! Her voice is top notch. It would be enough if she only sang ABM live because it is such a challenging song. That she chooses playback for songs we have heard a million times does not trouble me one bit! On Saturday night my friend was with me and, although she likes Celine, she never understood my obsession. After the show, she said that she had never seen anything like it. She was truly blown away and reckons she is in danger of becoming as obsessed as me! She had a very critical eye and knew immediately when Celine was singing playback. Instead of complaining though, she said she was in awe of Celine throughout the show and even found the playback performances impressive. Coming from my friend, that is a huge compliment... She clearly recognises that nobody, no matter how talented, can sustain vocals like that for a whole two hours, especially with such big songs as ABM! The one she has now is very cool, but the white cape doesnt suit the rest... its to white...Uhu, I know I have already said that and you steel my points as always. It is so odd that the dress is actually supposed to look like that, I thought they had made that sail especially for her number... it looked so oddly detached from the outfit. The grey and green surely blends in better. But who would wear that except while singing Eyes On Me, and Miragie goin to the sunday market? /fred Quote Peace and love to all.

Kristinaz Posted May 8, 2008 at 11:33 PM Posted May 8, 2008 at 11:33 PM (edited) i know i looooved eyes on me live - the arrangement was gorgeous! - i think its lipped tho - i thought it was like when i watched it but now ive seen a few vids of it - it looks lipped I have that problem with eyes on me and RDMH the echo at the high "baby" is what gets me since it sounds so similar to all the other shows. Either way doesn't matter but I do understand why the do some songs lipped. Especially for a singer like Celine who's voice is so powerful I'd hate to hurt it in any way, I mean she does have alot of high notes and singing them night after night is straining. Btw Celine looks so much better then the models in the outfits Edited May 8, 2008 at 11:47 PM by Kristinaz Quote
adam_jones123 Posted May 8, 2008 at 11:59 PM Posted May 8, 2008 at 11:59 PM i saw the spice girls show in december and saw celine on sat! i can point out there was no resemblance! lol first of all: different crowddifferent stagingdifferent type of dancedifferent effectsdifferent everything! loljust thought i tell everyone my similarities but i do agree she did spend load of time of my side of the stage and i did feel bad for the other side but thats not entirely her fault the effects were exactly the same. same screens. the screens moving into different positions. they even had the same Spanish Interlude as the Spice Girls. and pretty much the same costumes for the Spanish bit. and it is her fault that she didn't come over the other side. who elses fault is it? Kristinaz Posted May 9, 2008 at 12:02 AM Posted May 9, 2008 at 12:02 AM (edited) ^Ya I went to the Spice Girls show the Eyes On Me bit did remind me of Viva Forever but for some reason it didn't hit me it was because Jamie King did Celine's show as well. I also wanted to add to my previous post but it won't let me edit it that for the longest time I thought TC was lipped but I went back and listened to her live tv performances and they sound the same so I guess not. I also never noticed about MHWGO until someone pointed it out, obviously cause the vocals are different to the CD version but when I watched Vegas and I watched this tour I realized it was the same vocal. Frida Posted May 9, 2008 at 05:49 PM Posted May 9, 2008 at 05:49 PM Doesn't Annie Horth design costumes for Celine? Why does Celine buy other people? Annie is Celine's stylist/"fashion consultant". As a stylist she doesn't design and make the actual clothes Celine wear, but creates the look, puts it all together... So no, Anne doesn't actuallt design the costumes for her I hope I explained that good enough...
