karatedude317 Posted September 22, 2007 at 12:38 PM Posted September 22, 2007 at 12:38 PM This goes to show the power that we have to get stations to play the hell out of this song. All it takes is one to make a difference, so keep emailing your stations, and let's get them to play the hell out of this song like Lite FM! In two days it went from #8 to #1. This isn't the end yet! Great. Another pop station played the song. It'll take more than 2 spins to get people to hear it and request it though. Say What? Posted September 22, 2007 at 04:15 PM Posted September 22, 2007 at 04:15 PM I'm a member of allaccess and the only thing they said about Taking Chances was that the radio impact date was September 24. Impact date is not a release date but rather the date that shows data (numbers) with one full, initial week of release/spins. Also labels usually use that date to follow up or push a song based on that data. And that's why I've been saying all along to wait until next week to really see how the song has done on the AC chart in its first full week. The number of spins and added stations people put in here up to now were daily numbers which do not translate at all with the current chart system (which is weekly based). So for people to say it's a flop based on the daily numbers is wrong. Quote

Say What? Posted September 22, 2007 at 04:24 PM Posted September 22, 2007 at 04:24 PM Well allaccess didn't mention radiodate but impact date Either way, Next week will be the real chart that we should be looking at. That way we'll really see how much impact the song had in its first week of release. Quote

rhapsodion Posted September 22, 2007 at 06:33 PM Posted September 22, 2007 at 06:33 PM Oh...I always thought that the impact date means the official date that radio stations add the song to their playlist. I have been wrong all these years then... heehee~ Thanks for the explanation. Quote
Shamrock_1982 Posted September 22, 2007 at 09:39 PM Posted September 22, 2007 at 09:39 PM (edited) hi guys uk fans (london in particular) i just caught a bit of capital radios show apparently someone phoned up and asked for celines new single andits started a whole hing with the listeners, they dont have the song, but listeners are ringing up the dj (toni) and there are is a bit of a hype now regarding the album/song from what the dj knows about the upcoming album.... as she said they heard timbalands on the new album (so obviously the read this in a newspaper) did anyone catch the show in its entirety, i'd love to have heard it all??i wonder if we can email them the song?? shes on till 12..oo tonight exciting in a way... Kyle_Jared Posted September 22, 2007 at 09:41 PM Posted September 22, 2007 at 09:41 PM Don't get me wrong I think "Taking Chances" is a wondeful song, but there's not enough excitement around it with Radio. Top 40....hell, even HOT AC are not embracing this yet. Why do they only send it to AC? if the whole point of changing and updating her style was to only send the songs to AC formats, it s a waste. Now don't get me wrong, if they're smart and I know they are, there's a whole marketing scheme behind it, (probably grow it at AC, then HOT AC and then wait for a call out at top 40)...who knows? But surely to god they dont plan on getting her the attention they want for huge sales and leaving her at AC. Another senario, maybe they're waiting to release another single prior to the ablums release, somthing more geared towards top 40. She needs more exposure. I havent heard it on my station yet, and as much faith as I have in Celine, i'm scared as soon as Mariah and Britney start heavy hitting (britney already has; mariah soon....with sources saying it'll be even bigger then her last record) I"m nervous Celine will be forgotten about. She needs to visit stations in the U.S. Z100, KISS FM, etc....and pump it....cuz as sad as it is to say she does have automatic airplay on key stations like Mariah, Christina, or even Whitney would. stevo Posted September 22, 2007 at 09:44 PM Posted September 22, 2007 at 09:44 PM (edited) YES CAN WE EMAIL THEM THE SONG? I'm gonna email a youtube link so she can at least hear it- how can we email an actual mp3? Capital is tres importante. Hold on: Why does she not have an email link and everyone else does???!!! One of the UK's largest commercial radio stations have people ringing up to request the song, the DJ wants to play the song for them, but the radio station haven't received the song from Sony.
