Oh, my God... Whatta wonderful performance... I'm still speechless. Dunno what to say... Actually, I know... CELINE'S VOICE IS BETTER THAN EVER... STILL AS POWERFUL AS IT WAS IN THE 90'S... I had just started watchin' it when I burst into tears... Her voice seems to be much deeper and more touching nowadays... Well, it doesn't... IT REALLY IS MUCH DEEPER AND MORE TOUCHING NOWADAYS. Hope it gets even better... I think we should definitely be proud of bein' Celine's fans, because it's really almost impossible to find someone who can try to sing like CELINE DION... That performance was quite flawless. :wub:

I just saw our Céline September 5th and she was awesome then and awesome on ABC last night! She gets better and better!!!! YOU GO GIRL <--- I shouted this out after one of her songs in Vegas! So excited, I don't remember which song! They were all awesome!

I'm sorry, perhaps you should suspend my account as well, because it's obvious it was one of her worst live performances this year. I love Celine so much, but I can't pretend I'm deaf, you know. Her voice is nowhere near the 90's in this performance, which doesn't mean I don't believe she still has it in her. She really needs to rest her voice and forget Vegas asap. But hey, that's just me, right? :rolleyes:

You can tell in her voice that she is really tired. I think the break after A NEW DAY will do get a lot of good. To say it was 'her best' is a lie. It wasn't bad, it just wan't the old Dion magique that we know is in her.

Thank you so much for the youtube link, the HD file is little too large for me too.

That performance, particularly the accapella bit gave me chills! I loved the raspiness of Celine's voice when the "rock" bit kicked in, I know she has always said that she loves singing like that, and it sounded really good in this performance. I preferred the ending in her Divas performance though, where the band came back in at the end, but it was fabulous! She is a legend! :wub:

Well quite honestly after hearing the reaction on the board, and then seeing the performance, I was a tiny bit let down. I mean she sounded really good, but obviously her voice was a bit dried out and weak. She sounded better at Divas 2002 if you ask me. I LOVE that she did the ending like in 94, but it just wasn't as strong. And she sounded like she was trying too hard the whole time; her performance was stale, because she was concentrating on hitting the notes. We can't forget it was at the end of the concert, so she'd been singing all night long. Overall it was great, just not earth shattering like most have described. Still made me proud though!

Yeah, that's true! She had been singing all night so she must have been getting tired anyway. But did you notice how much better her pronounciation was? Give her something different to sing and she concentrates much more on her vocals. I definitely think it had a "wow" factor though, not as much as the show-off performance of 94 but it still made me sit up and watch in awe.

The comment was not based on the fact that Shai (The Voice) didn't like Celine's performance but because of his attitude in every topic he replies to. It's just an accumulation of negativity and that comment was like the straw that almost broke the camel's back :giggle:

Personally, I didn't like the performance. Not because of her voice or anything related to her vocal shape, but rather because of her interpretation. This song to me is a very intimate and tender song... a testament of love. And by doing all the fantastic money notes here and there and everywhere, I think it takes away the simplicity of the song.

Just my 2 cents worh.

I, too, was a bit let down after reading the reaction from some of those on this board. Don't get me wrong I love Celine and I will always think she's the best there is, but I don't think this was her best version to this song. She will never be like she was in the 90s. Heck, none of us will. I also agree that I think Vegas is getting (or has gotten) to her. I'm willing to bet the reason she's hitting the world tour so fast after Vegas ends is because she's getting ansy. She probably wants to see different things after seeing the same ol' same ol' for 5ish years really bad. Heck, I know I would!

I think the little pressure that this was a tribute to Elvis and she had to give him justice helped a little bit.

Unlike Andre, I like her interpretation. She's created her own version. Listen to Elvis interpretation, the dreamy slow one, or the reggae interpretation by UB40 - the most famous ones - Celine's version is different, but definitif as well. It's powerhouse emotion.

Oh and listen to the original, Plaisir d'amour by Martini. It's wonderful. I didn't know before Elvis song was based on it, but you can hear the connection.

I cannot believe that anyone would criticize her performance last night. It was fantastic. She sounded absolutely amazing. I haven't listened to the download on this forum, but maybe the sound quality isn't that great on the download because that is the ONLY reason I can think someone would criticize this performance. I think she looked tired, but she didn't sound tired. I think she sounded just as fantastic during that performance as she did 10-15 years ago singing this song or any song for that matter....and much better than the Divas performance in 2002 of which you could really tell she was struggling back then. Yes, this is my opinion, but I have a non-Celine fan in my house who thought she sounded amazing last night too. His quote: "Her voice sounded fantastic..absolutely amazing".
