I RSVPd since I'll be in Vegas this weekend...if I get to be one of the 100, I'll drive back to LA late Monday night!

Personally, I think they should have international listening parties in 24 places around the world.

Actually I heard SONYBMG China had got "Taking Chances" demo, and ask for insiders' opinion. And a French member reported there's listening party in France too. So I think it's not Vegas only. I think SONY is doing something right this time. At least it shows they want to hear some opinion from fans this time.

Before ANDHC was released there were multiple listening parties around the world. I even won a contest Sony Poland did in warsaw, I couldn't attend tho as my magic stick wasn't fully charged to fly me to Poland.

 

Anyhow I find it AMAZING how Sony Music is disorganized. It's BAFFLING. They tell you like less than week before: HEy, you knowm we were thinking, you as fans pay actually for Team Celine and...we were thinking, maybe, perhaps maybe we would let selected American fans living in the LAs Vegas are to listen to 5 sec fragments of some new song?

The bit that intrigues me is "invaluable feedback." They have never cared in the past what the fans thought so i am highly suspicious that this heralds a bold new direction for Celine muscially and they want as much feedback as possible before going "live"

I swear to God if I wasn't already going to see the show this month I would buy a ticket and fly down to this event. Even if it is just a few songs talk about an experience! You'd get a chance to mingle with the media and possibly get connections way beyond your wildest dreams. Not to mention only a few select individuals get a chance to do something like this.

 

As for the international fans, I think it's a give and take. You guys get more tracks on your albums, way better packaging (need I remind you of the limited editions to D'elles and 1 Fille & 4 Types?). Your countries still sell CD singles with music videos, remixes, live concert cuts, etc. Also, Canada and many countries in Europe have already had special events that people in the U.S.A. have not had a chance to see (the D'elles television special for one thing).

 

I also don't think that the U.S.A. is going to be the only country getting something like this. This could be one of the first previews of the album. Then depending upon how it goes other countries will start getting listening parties. It's all about marketing and business. Why have so many parties about a few songs that could ultimately end up getting boo'd? Simple. You don't.

 

I believe that TeamCeline & Sony are getting it right this year. With things like the random contest that Bellamy won recently to this listening party I think we're in store for some really awesome and amazing treats this year and next. NOW I am willing to overlook the site going down every so often. I feel firmly that I am finally getting my money's worth. I may not have won these contests, and I may not be able to go to this preview party, but at least we're all finally getting more chances than through the one contest for A New Day... tickets each month.

I agree Shaun. It makes me wonder if their doing this because her new material is really different. I think its great that they're involving the fans.

 

But I do agree with Seb that its a bit ridiculous they're announcing this only a week in advance. :/

Didn't get the email, i am a team Celine member. Just like in the DVD recording no one knew Celine was gonna be there , im sure she will show up to say hi to everyone at this event. I am thinking of buying a ticket to go to vegas and see this in person.

She's on break that day. That is a 99.9% she will not show up. She may be out in another city on a photo shoot for some of the promotional materials for the upcoming album. Plus, they official confirmed she won't be there, which they did not specify during the January taping and interviews.

Please note that Celine Dion will not be present at this event and no cameras, recorders or cellular phones will be allowed into The Colosseum.

I think its just a way for Sony to act like they care about the opinion of the fans. And they are positive that the fans will like it anyway, because its Céline and the fans will like everything Céline makes and does. At least, that is what they think.

I don't believe that Celine would record a completely new album if the songs previewed were to get mediocre reviews. However, what this listening party could do is provide Sony and Celine's crew with information as to see if the leading single they have selected right now is the best choice. If this song were to get so-so or negative reviews then another song that got higher remarks could become the leading single instead.

Wow! First I have to say that I also think that Sony makes it right by inviting some members to this unexpected listening date. These fans might have the chance to voice their opinions about the new songs and probably the label will use the reactions to select the right songs for the definite track list. This is an honor! Beacuse they will be depending upon the feedback to see which songs are best for the singles! WOW!

i think it might be too early for the preview - we r 3 months before the release of the album!! chances r high that someone will leak this entire album sooner rather than later....

if their point is to preview 2 or 3 full songs which they r marking as the singles of the album i think it's a great idea and they might even change their decision about the first single which is even better....but if they preview only 30 sec of each song - i truely can't see the point

Productions J insisted to tell the fans that we wouldn't meet Celine 'cause she was very busy, until the last minute. But it was so obvious that we were going to meet her.. I knew that since the time I got an email form them telling me the time to met them before the show. But this is another story hehehe

Oh, then did Shania not know about an old Olivia Newton John CD exactly named the same which has been released before her? Tell me. Tell me. Or did Shania buy any copyrights? Or worse - did she copyrighted the letters used in the title? Will René have to pay royalties to ms. Twain?
