MTV VMA 2007 in LAS VEGAS

I won't say it's impossible to happen, cause it is actually, now she's working with Timbaland, but as some said before, I don't know how people would react on her appearence there, cause they don't like anything that's more than crappy song, which is all of the sound we get to listen nowadays (sorry if I hurt someone's feelings, but it's just my opinion). So good quality music, as we know for sure Celine has, wouldn't be their favorite... But who knows... :ermm: As Garou would say "Tout peut changer" Edited by Elaine

2007 MTV Video Music Awards | Coming Soon!

From: MTV VMAs

Sent: Thursday, July 05, 2007 3:00PM

To: Celine Dion

Subject: 2007 VMAs

Dear Celine Dion,

It's us... the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. How's, uhh, how's Las Vegas? Look, we know the VMAs have been kinda brutal to you in the past -- two nominations, no wins ... And as sure as we are that your heart went on, the truth is that the whole situation's really been weighing on us lately. So we've made a big decision. This September -- brace yourself Celine -- we're packing up the MTV VMAs into the biggest trucks we can find and hauling the whole glitzing, glamming, celebrity-soaked shebang to the sparkliest city in the wide world ... LAS VEGAS!

It would be our honor, Celine, to extend to you the warmest of invitations to the biggest party Sin City's seen since The King, Elvis Presley, was mixing it up with boy wonder Wayne Newton. The 2007 Video Music Awards are taking over every inch -- lobby to suites to outrageously luxurious rooftop -- of the world-famous Palms Casino Resort and unleashing a full week's worth of MTV fury on the city of lights. We're gonna fill Glitter Gulch to the top with no-holds-barred celebrity action and rock the cactus off the desert with live performances by the biggest names in music (second to you, of course, dear Celine). The whole show will be live and will only be broadcast unedited ONCE. So watch closely!

By the time the 2007 Video Music Awards are through with it, your town'll have six new nicknames and at least as many spouses. So brace yourself Celine. Because first and foremost, we just wanna hang out with you.

See you in Las Vegas!

Love always,

The MTV VMAs

it's more than sarcastic, it's a deliberate hint

notice the shift in address....they are not telling celine to watch closely, but rather us. very subtle, but i think mtv ARE trying to suggest something. why else would they release this? maybe they are just trying to play up canadian interest in the broadcast. i think with all the rumors, though, something else is at play here...

hmm... we SHOULD watch closely, i think...

Maybe they're being sarcastic and is just about building interest about the show and means nothing about Céline being there, but one can dream!!!!!

Even If They Asked her to be there doesnt mean she will accept...That letter was poorly written if its a real one

I've read this letter before. It doesn't make any sense to me. And it sounds very sarcastic and rude. I hope Celine would turn it down if this is the invitation she recieved.

I Agree With You Bellamy...Eventhough I'd Love To see Celine again on TV...I hope she turns this down they sound rude and still very disrespectful towards her ( Mabye this is a joke IDK) but I Know The reason they are doing this now...IS BECAUSE they Know that her NEW CD is going be HUGE and they want her on their good side NOW when her ALBUM hits' #1 and then they will be begging for HER

No Celine you are above them to much stick to the other award Shows Who Needs MTV

I'd love to see her perform there, especially since this year is supposedly going to be quite promising.

Now, onto something else I've noticed in this thread, a lot of you guys whine and complain when other people put down Celine and her talent in favour of another artist, and yet, you do the same here.

I'm talking about the comments concerning Britney. She's not the new kid on the block anymore, she is as a superstar as Celine is. She's in the same league. I'm not speaking about vocal ability but notoriety. In fact, these days Britney is ridiculed in the media mostly (and I find it incredibly funny that Celine fans, out of all people, love to see that ridicule and some even believe the tabloid fantasy stories when Celine herself is often ridiculed as well, but moving on) and yet pretty much everybody wants to see her return. And no, not all of the people on that MTV request forum are fans, and not all of them are "kids". Britney's audience has changed since her "Oops, I did it again!" days. She appeals to an older crowd now, especially with the songs she's done in her past 2 albums.

Have any of you seen her performances at the VMAs? She owned every single event. She's an amazing peformer, and even the critics agree on that point. Her vocals are a different story, as obviously she's an okay singer but not like Celine or Whitney, etc. Britney was able to belt songs before ("Where are You Now") but deliberately chose to do a different style of music as there was already heaps of vocal singers out there.

I'm saying all of this because a lot of you seem to have quite a narrow-minded perspective when an artist is favoured instead of Celine. I can understand why, since we are all fans here, but if you would like to see others respect Celine, maybe you should start respecting other artists too, whether you like them or not. (That's not considering other things like an artist being obviously racist, etc, then that artist deserves no respect).

If you put aside the tabloids' harassment of Britney, you will realize that she's not just some pop singer that won't be remembered in 10 years time. She's broken records, set standards in terms of performing and such, she deserves all the success she's had.

I'm a fan of both Celine and Britney, so it saddens me to see such hostility on here. But oh well, whether or not you dismiss this post is up to you but I hope some of you will change your tunes a bit.

:)

The MTV awards has a LOT of viewers but I don't think she needs to accept just because of that. This letter on mtv.ca seems to be like some kind of provocation, like they are challenging her to show this 'new Céline'. Also they're giving the viewers 'hints'. Timbaland is a huge part of that show and if he did produce something for Céline maybe it's because of him that brought this on? I get more and more the feeling that during the preview of the album not everything they recorded was given to that audience and that they save the best for last? Maybe the rating the songs will also mean that two or three tracks won't make the album? I could be very wrong but my gut feeling says they are still some surprises in store...they're building it up, this excitement, that's for sure.
