The VMAs will be broadcast live from Las Vegas on September 9 at 8pm EST. Not only is Las Vegas a new city to host the event, but this year's ceremony will only air in its original form live. In other words, don't expect the show to be on infinite loop after the initial broadcast. All repeats of the show will be in "remixed" form that will be "programmed by and for the viewers."

 

Superproducer Timbaland has signed on as the show's "maestro," overseeing a series of collaborative "one time only" performances. The roster, so far, includes Foo Fighters, Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Amy Winehouse, Rihanna, Lily Allen, Mark Ronson and Chris Brown.

Yup, I saw that today on Access Hollywood. Timbaland will be the show's musical director and seeing as he's working with Celine and she's already in LV, I think its possible she'll make an appearance. Especially if Rene is looking to thrust her back into the current musical environment.

I Think this is the perfect chance for Celine to promote her new album!!!

And I wish she would attend the show and Pray...But I think the chances of Celine going are BAD b/c Celine has a show that night and...She wont go with out a invition...which i doubt they gave her

 

But I think if they invite her to perform...RENE will not be able to say NO...He's not dumb and knows how many people watch taht...this could be a positive direction for her carrer

Absolutely. It was a HUGE issue 10 years ago if you were disowned by MTV. These days there are other ways to promote your material and get it heard by the masses. It's a bit like in the UK, years ago it was the end of the world if your songs weren't added to the Radio 1 playlist but now Radio 2 is the most popular station in the UK and Celine's songs regularly get played on that station.

 

The VMA's are all a very cleverly designed show and there's no way Celine will feature, certainly not this year anyway.

But Still.... The VMA's are the awards with the most clever performances design, don't get me wrong I love the Grammy's as well but the performances are pretty plain in terms of stage design.... Maybe the only time they went a little further were the 1999 Grammy's and the Madonna performance feat. Gorillaz.... There's Also The Brits that have that catch of awesome Collaborations and put on scene (remembering: Anastacia & Jamiroquai, Texas & Wu Tang Clan, JT & Kylie, Jamie Cullum & Katie Melua, Alcia Keys, Gwen Stefani & Missy Elliot).... If Celine really pulled this off the right way on the VMA's we could expect one of her best performances ever with a fresh looking Celine (as TTWII on the Billboards and not the gown diva).

I would rather Celine save her appearances for more pretigious awards shows such as the Billboard Music Awards, the Americans Music Awards, and the Grammy's. MTV gears towards the younger crowds with guest like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, and Justin Timberlake. But who said that MTV didn't like Celine? I don't believe that's true. I tend to watch VH1 more anyway.
