Yes, it is, on TVR 1, like it always was. However, I recommend you watch it on German channel Pro 7. TVR has this annoying woman trying to translate the whole thing and makes a mess out of it. Pro 7 let's it as it is .

For example in Italy they make fun of Mariah but never anything bad about Celine we consider her a step higher than Mariah. Maybe celine's music fits better italian music history and tradition she is very close to us see Bocelli,Pavarotti etc etc . Talking about performance I dont know how many times a singer sang a not nominated song at the oscars..do u know that?maybe someone did it in the past I really dont know .Then many news talked about a world premiere of this song, so I cant say she is the highlight of the evening but it sounds like she is gonna do something particular

This was one of my thoughts too.

I believe this is such a significant even for musical composers to be acknowledged, because music adds SO much to a film. To have a composer acknowledged with one of the world's most prestigious awards, it would only be appropriate to have one of his pieces played... and next to this, having one of the world's foremost recording artists perform a tribute to him - this is amazing. And like you said, even though Celine is not being award this evening, and even though there may be many more news buzz about other actors coming to the Oscars, this World Premiere of this song is making headlines in all corners of the world right now, with Celine's name in the headline - so this IS something special!

 

And since this is a highlight in Ennio's career and this career highlight, when people look back and think of Ennio, they will remember Celine...
