The rumours are true: yet again Céline Dion will sing at the Academy Awards, or Oscars. She will sing as part of a tribute to Italian composer Ennio Morricone

Céline Dion and Oscar once again. For the fifth time she will sing during the live broadcast from Hollywood. However instead of singing a song nominated for the Best Original Song from a Motion Picture category, she will sing as part of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Italian film composer Ennio Morricone. Celine will sing new lyrics to one of Morricone's most famous scores: the music from Once Upon a Time in America.

Céline first sang at the 1992 Oscars with Peabo Bryson: the theme from Beauty and the Beast won the Oscar, though the award goes to the composer and lyricist rather than the singer. In 1997 she performed Because you loved me, the theme from Up Close and Personal (it did not win) and I finally found someone (the theme from The Mirror has Two Faces), because Barbra Streisand was suddenly ill.  Céline performed My heart will go on, the theme from Titanic at the 1998 Oscars- it too won the Oscar.

Canadian Céline Dion won the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland singing Ne partez pas sans moi

hopefuyl stevo - we should all cross our fingers for a top vocal performance .

i'm sure celine is very nervous , this is huge and she performed in such events before but it's been along time since so many people saw her live on television...she knows billions of people will watch her live - no pressure at all lol!

i just hope sony for once wont be THAT stupid - they just have to release this song to the radio stations and they have to do it right now!! :flowers:

Yeah I've been thinking about how nervous she must be...everyone will be talking about her fifth time- surely that's a record? She says herself she needs to feel those nerves as it raises the ante.I'll be hiding under a pillow watching it but then will replay it with glee after she's floored everyone!!!

She's a pro and she's a diva. She's a legend and she's expected to floor everyone even if she's a mess. Her apearance there is already enough. And besides when was that she was NOT on point!? she's always on point. Always and Oscars won't be an exception, especially considering it's not her first time.

seb , celine is only human and we could all tell just how nervous she was during the last jerry lewis telethon - and there is a huge diffrence between this telethon and the oscar :msn-wink:

"i knew i loved u" is a very difficault song to sing...she has to switch keys all the time and sing not in her natural register . that's why i hope she'll sing it a bit higher specialy the beginning , i think i'll be more nervous than her :giggle:

hehe me too, the time will stop at that moment, and I will be praying to listen a higher register as it happened with the Grammys version of Dance with my father... :P
