for me,2 years to wait for Celine's new English album is even more long than 5 years to wait for Enya's new album.

i find it hard to believe she'll sell 20 million copies ever again seb...the world tour wont be enough , she'll have to do alot of promotion on tv too and radio stations must play her songs...it's not gonna be very easy to make radio stations around the world play her music ...it's not 1996 , it's 2006 and the problem is not just in the u.s. .

celine would have to work really hard in order to sell 15-20 million copies from her next release and i'm not sure she is ready to work non stop for a year and travel not only from 1 country to the other but also between the shows instead of resting promoting her album and new singles...

now we all know noone else will help her , it's not like she has a record company

No, that's where you're wrong. The momentum of the end of A New Day, the DVD of A New Day and "Enchanting", combined with some promo, X-Mas and the fact that this is a new (English) Celine album in years, will sell the album. 2-3 months later she will go on tour, which will be another push to album sales. If she would release it just before the tour, she won't be able to *normally* promote it (she's on tour, she can't and won't do multiple things at a time.. not anymore) and it would only be a fraction of what would've been sold if released in time for -X-mas.

 

So, no.. "very good sales" ≠ a release in March.

She can, gogo, and I'm being logical here. Remember that IF Sony wouldn't have screwed up the promotion of ANDHC it would have sold at least 4 million in the US. They have shamelessly abandoned the project. But my point is it sold half million in the FIRST week! Imagine when the new English album will come out in 2008 in Europe then all the hunger for a new Céline Dion release will be relieved. She will do a promo tour and then a tournee on top of that - in europe, where she has been always a constant seller.

 

Gogo, it will be HER time to shine. She will do promo just like she did back in the 90's. Sony didn't do a thing back then. They had Mariah to promote and her countless radio hits. Céline was secondary and is till today. If she and René decide to rule the world again she will make some promotion and the album will sell well in Europe. And she doesn't even have to do much! Just appear here and there on TV, the media will blow it further for her.

Oh, come on, put your thinking caps on. Her tour will start early '08 (Feb/March). If the album is released in March how can she possibly do a proper promo tour AND a concert tour at once. And she can't possibly do promo again like back in the 90's, why? Think! 1) again, she can't do that and doing a concert tour at once 2) she's older 3) she has a FAMILY and more importantly a kid (who are going with her and need her time & attention too) 4) and for that matter, she most likely doesn't even want to do promo like that again.

That's true on one side, but also not true on the other. While she is a household name, it doesn't guarantee succes sale wise. Her latest albums are examples of that.. So proper promo is definately required. Also, according to your logic..it's even more food for a holiday season release in 2007.

it's not gonna be easy to make celine no 1 again , specialy not on the billboard hot 100 and billboard hot 200...and even outside of the u.s. things have changed and we have to work really hard to bring celine where she belongs again - the no 1 position .

 

so whether the album is gonna be released this november or march 2008 , it's not THAT important , it's still gonna be hard for her to make radio stations play her songs...god her latest singles flopped even on the AC format!!

 

so u see we have bigger issues here...let's start planning our future steps .

we can do much more than that - common guys write some ideas on how to make celine no 1 again...

 

we can call radio stations and write them which is not that complicated - dont forget that in order for her to be no 1 again , radio stations must play her song+yes , we should make as many people as possible buy her first single on itunes cause if alot of people buys it she can be no 1 even if radio stations wont play her song much...

 

now there r things that we can not do by ourselfs , we would have to contact sony , team-celine , celinedion.com - everyone we have ...let them know that we want this album to be her biggest yet and in order to do it they must help us too...we should give them a list with our ideas on how to promote her better...

 

we still have a long time before the first single will be sent to the radio stations but we can already start planning our steps...

The thing is, we don't know how the music industry will be in a year from now.. As we speak, the UK just change it chart rules for singles..which now is more lenient to downloads. We could face an entirely situation as we have now, a year from now....

 

I just hope Sony will think & look forward to adapt to the 21st century, using 21st century methods & technology and for example not rely on physical singles anymore. One thing we should definately do, is "mass-requesting" when the time is due.. especially in the US, where requesting is an important key to succes. Let's just hope her lead single will be a strong one (up-tempo & rocky) and will appeal to the masses..

it can be a powerful ballad too , each and every year there r few strong ballads that make it all the way to the no 1 position .

Yes, it can, but I prefer not to have a ballad as a 1st single (definately the 2nd though).. See it as a celebration, see it as a "welcome home party", it should be upbeat, grabbing, fun. Her return should be upbeat, grappig, fun.. Having a ballad as a lead single would make the "mood" more..serieus, it would make people think "oh there is she again", instead of "hey I really like that song, is that really Celine who sings it..she's back??".

 

My point being, it should be new, it should be innovating, it should be modern, yet still be "Celine". It should grab people's attention and it needs to be upbeat. A 2nd single, which should be released early '08 should be a (big) ballad, fitting to the winter and one that makes people go "wow".

To be honest I want her to release the CD as much into 2008 as it's possible.This is the first time since the beginning of AND that she will actually be capable of promoting it right. To think of it...I actually don't know the reason withing reason of my fixation on this date. LOL Presumably it's the best month to release albums - they then have many months to build up the hits to then in Novemberhave the chance of being nominated for a Grammy.

 

Gogo, there is no way Mariah or Céline can have this success again. Billboard change the rules of digital downloads AFTER Mariah's HERSELF cheated once again with "We Belong Together". Imagine she put the damn song on her web site for FREE DOWNLOAD that counted towards Billboard. And the *CENSORED* sent out special promotional codes to download it for free to about every human being in the US. That was one of biggest hoaxes in music history.

for me....im not so much worried about promoting. i just keep thinking back to what she said in for keeps. that maybe she'll write and record her own music if she really had time to work on each song. and she obviously cant do that while she's in vegas unless she spends her mondays and tuesdays writing/producing/recording and can maybe record one song a month. but i dont think thats whats happening.

 

so in that case, i want the album out late 2008 or 2009. im just afraid for her....i know she doesnt care but i want her to be popular and get more respect as an artist. and if she releases another OH then forget it. she finishes her stint in LV....it will be a legendary moment and she'll get a lot of press for it where she can push her new album. i just think its her last chance to regain that kind of positive attention and critiques but if she comes out with OH2 then thats it...she'll be cast off and given no attention.

I couldn't agree more. Back in 1996, people were still getting to know Celine--she was this person that a lot of people didn't know--but recognized her voice.

 

Now she's this "bigger than life" figure--and her reputation has been tarnished from such huge success. Not mention her oddness that so many people point out to me when I mention her name.

 

It will take an amazing album to sell more than A New Day Has Come. I know she has it in her, but the world will have to accpet her again-and I don't know if that's going to happen. It may just be all of us and the rest of the adult contemporary listeners.

She did that with Falling Into You, so it could be possible.

 

I really hope her first single is a good ballad, because from the past experience it's known, that most of her uptempo songs were never as good as her ballads, unless she finds a good songwriter who can write her good uptempo songs too.
