And she explained that she thought that all her fans just liked her as the best vocalist of all time, just able ti sing is signature songs a la TPOL... ABMS...and so on....And as we know that, she and her team (of course René) are very conservative, and just afraid of loosing the fan base. Thus, by asking them I Surrender as a single, it is like locking up Céline into her certainties and to make her think that she cannot evolve towards an other thing than powerfull ballads. I thus think that it is a mistake. Not that I do not like this song which is rather impressive. But it is just too late, even if effectively commercially, this song would be perfectly exploitable for selling the dvd.

Maybe if the song had been on the ANDLILV CD then it would have been a good idea....but not now.

Its an old song from an album that was released years ago and its embarassing to release it now 4 years after the fact. Also, this is not what the public wants to hear. They've heard Celine screaming her lungs out and they dont care anymore. The only way for her to get media exposure is to do something completely different then what she's done before. Otherwise people just won't care. I think you're making awfully big assumptions about what the critics would think. This is a quote from amazon.com from a critic: "expect little from Celine Dion but turgid ballads" and thats exactly what IS is...a turgid ballad. EVERY TIME I listen to the song, I imagine Celine walking dramatically performing the song. And then finally and the main chorus ("Right here, right now, I give my life to live again...") Celine stops, stretches out her arms, looks up in the sky and belts out the word. Then at the main "I Surrender" part after that, Celine stands in one position as the camera circles Celine, a full 360! And the hue of the beach/sky should be just like the dark-blue hue as it was on the cover of the ANDHC album! (See the blue hue on the beach in the attached image) I'd be able to get a LOT more vivid... but let's not kill the dreams of others. But since the song FIRST CAME OUT, this is how I imagined the video!! Gosh, I hope the Team reads this topic! BTW, Maybe this campaign will actually convince Sony to listen this time; I don't know why, I just have a strong feeling! This is the genre she's the best in, only a handful of other singers who can compare to her. So, if you are good at something, why do you want to change it? and actually it's been a long time since she released a song that had such powerful and eccentric performance. Vocally her latest singles were all very boring. Is that the direction you want her to evolve towards? I don't.
