I don't think its a good idea at all. Its an old song from an album that was released years ago and its embarassing to release it now 4 years after the fact. Also, this is not what the public wants to hear. They've heard Celine screaming her lungs out and they dont care anymore.

 

The only way for her to get media exposure is to do something completely different then what she's done before. Otherwise people just won't care.

Nothing at all.. just time the release very properly. With the end of the show, just before the holiday season & simultaneously with a new English CD. That will most certainly boost DVD sales up.

I like the idea too, it's about time that Celine's team wakes up and realizes that they need a strong song to help promote her material.

 

However, on a different note (and you guys can bash me as much as you like), I think it's a bit hypocrtical to demand this song as a single now. How many times have we, the fans, complained and moaned whenever a song gets recycled? So are you saying it's okay only in some cases but not in others? If that's the case then it's hypocritical. I'm not trying to start a big fight or be rude, it's just a simple observation I've noticed.

 

But, yes, this song would be an excellent choice as a single on the radio, and for a music video on MTV, VH-1, etc.

I think you are wrong on many points there.

 

You are partly right when you say that Céline needs to do something completely different to get media exposure. You are right. That is one of the ways. But I ain't seeing that happen in a very very long time.

 

She has tryed to do new stuff before but she never does it all the way, she always takes a step back and then releases something else, then something differnt. All the while she is trying to do what's best and testing different stuff. And all that which shows she can't make up her mind on where to stand musically is what the critical critics and critical public loves to hate. They think they see insecurity, and people love to point that out in powerful persons.

 

So yea she should go with a total new sound and approach. But if so all the way. And we ain't seening that in a long long time. A New Day itself proves that.

But the general public still love All By Myself, It's All Coming Back To Me Now, Because You Loved Me, Think Twice etc. And don't tell me that's because they are sick of hearing Céline singing power ballads.

 

When ANDHC was released as a single I heard people say "Too bad she didn't sing those high long notes" (And no it wasn't Thevoice who said that). People EXPECT powerballads from her, even though they say that is what they don't like with her. But has anyone heard people saying "I love Céline Dion only for her non ballad tracks". Then again people say they don't like Céline Dion but we all know they listen to her love ballads. My point is, there will always be people who SAY they are sick of Céline Dion. And Tal, it will not matter what she'll do.

But the thing is it IS commercial. It has power, it has the Céline notes everyone wants to hear, and it has the theme which people like to hear. They like pain and suffering. If she instead of "I surrender everything..." would had sung "Oh my love I love you so..." then the song wouldn't had been commercial at all.

Uhum, but you are missing a very good point here Joseph. This is a GOOD song, it's a great song. It is a high quality track with huge hit potential. To use that as single material is more than ok. Because that is what such a track is meant for. To reuse medium quality tracks as album fill out is what we don't like.

The thing was neither HYEBIL or GTSW were power ballads. HYEBIL could had been sucessful if being theme to a movie, but too weak to stand alone. It was a good quality track, but it wasn't that kind of single material which could climb the charts by itself. It needed backup, either by massive promotion or like I mentioned together with a movie. But that did I already say before they released HYEBIL as a single.

 

GTSW was never single material.

 

And I am not super defensive because you don't like my idea. It's just that I felt your statements needed answers.

If Celine is planning a huge new CD in the fall of 2007 and the DVD is released near that time, releasing IS may be a bad idea and could destroy sales of her new CD. I think it is a good suggestion IF she wasn't releasing a new CD around the same time as the DVD will probably be released. I love IS, but I think it is better to release a NEW song from a NEW CD than to release and OLD song from an OLD CD.

I don't think it makes financial sense to release it on home video this early.

Of course you are right. But I am sure we won't have a new English album near the release of the DVD.

 

The DVD will be released in March, in the spring or fall/winter 2007. A French album is being released in the fall of 2007 and we know that. There will not be a new English album BEFORE the release of the French album, because then we would know about that before we knew about the French album release because an English album release is much more important and more interesting news to the media.

 

And to release an English album at the same time as the French album is being released is not impossible, but I don't think it is gonna happen. Because we know by experience that as soon as she releases a new album (whether it's in French or English) the previous album is instantly history and no singles are being released from it and there will be no more promo for it. Last time it was OH, which more singles could had been released from, but as soon as 1F&4T came out OH was history. So releaseing both albums at the same time would mean one have to step back.

 

So I don't think we'll have a new English album at the same time as the DVD.
