LVCeline Posted October 19, 2007 at 08:30 PM Posted October 19, 2007 at 08:30 PM I'm sure everyone's keeping in mind they have to judge from these 30 second clips, which quite honestly can be misleading as we all thought from hearing TC for the first time. I know for a fact Can't Fight the Feeling has a lot of guitar, as does This Time and Fade Away, so opinions just might change when we hear the full songs I have to say I Got Nothing Left has been stuck in my head for a while now though! Really dying to hear the rest! Quote

celinedion1 Posted October 19, 2007 at 08:41 PM Posted October 19, 2007 at 08:41 PM (edited) For I got nothing left her voice just sounds lower. When I first heard it I didn't like it a whole lot but since then it's begining to grow on me. I love a world to believe in. Can't wait to hear the whole song. Yippy we only have less than a month til Taking Chances gets released. Fred I agree with you; our opinions on the songs might change when we hear the full song, then again they may not. I guess we'll just have to wait til the album gets released. Edited October 19, 2007 at 08:44 PM by celinedion1 Quote

As I said it's a typical way of singing for some old school RNB singers. I posted a performance of Patti Labelle's If You Asked Me To and she sang the half of the song as if she was on helium but that's just a PART of the song. Like in Céline's case if you listen closely in the first second she sounds normal and the refrain we are getting to hear is this typical higher sounding voice RNB singer use. Nothing unusual at all. Tal Posted October 19, 2007 at 09:06 PM Posted October 19, 2007 at 09:06 PM Fred, when they talk about this album being a new Celine, I dont think its fair to base that on OUR knowledge or expectations of her. Because if you did, then yes this album isn't drastically different. But, for example, I played it for my mom who is an average Celine fan who loves IBIY and TLYM. When she heard the clips she was really suprised and found strange in the sense that she isn't used to hearing Celine's voice on these kinds of tracks. And she liked the clips....but she definitely thought it was a departure for Celine. This Time, Taking Chances, Fade Away, Can't Fight the Feelin, Thats Just the Woman in Me.....these songs are not your average Celine song. I find them different and unexpected. And you have to remember, most of the world thinks of her as the Titanic singer. So for the average listener, they don't expect this type of sound from her. Yepp but then again if they, as we can predict, releases Alone all that attemts to be "new" will be totally in vain, and I'm afraid people will have a very hard time taking her seriously after that. They have to be very smart when choosing the singles this time, coz right now she has some real potenial and possibilities to get a very fine come back (in the sense of respect in the music buisness). And considering the single choices for this album is far more important than before, and knowing their history of choosing singles, I am to say the least, slightly worried. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
tcherno Posted October 19, 2007 at 09:23 PM Posted October 19, 2007 at 09:23 PM Back on topic, what do you think should be the next single? /fredAlone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! during her promotion tour, when she will sing more than one song in her tv appearances, then everyone can count on these songs to be next single... we still have to wait a little bit and we will have a clue Quote
Tal Posted October 19, 2007 at 09:28 PM Posted October 19, 2007 at 09:28 PM Yeah I know what you mean. I love Alone but I dont think its a good idea to release it as a single. She released a cover for her first single, and while many people here said no one would know it....guess what? They did. So releasing another cover, and such a well known and beloved song, is a bad idea imo....regardless of what a good job she did. I can't say what should be the next single because we've only heard short clips. I really like Shadow of Love so far, but if they want to continue with the rock theme, obviously SOL is not a good choice. I'm really loving the clip of Cant Fight the Feeling which has really strong electric guitar at the end of the clip, and I find it really catchy, so that might be a good one. There are no guitars in World to Believe In and I'm sure god has already used his miracle for the day, so you're S.O.L. on that one I happen to love the song and I think most of us here will, I'm not quite sure why you think it's so awful save for the syrup factor which might be on the sugary side. The vocals alone I think save the song, but I just think it's a really sweet and charming song. Quote
Céline's Blues Posted October 19, 2007 at 09:36 PM Posted October 19, 2007 at 09:36 PM I think the problem here is, Shon, that fred needs a boyfriend or girlfriend or trasgressiva to love and he will then understand the lyrics. I have felt the love in her previous sappy songs, monsiur Seb, but as I exlained in the thread about that horrible track is that it becomes extremely blasé, and I think that's sad coz I think she should work with people who find different way of expressing the wonders of life lyrically than those who keeps on going with the the overly sappy and almost comical aged phrases. And yea one might think I am just a bitter soul. But infact, I was singing "But Not For Me" for so many years no till this last spring, and had to reconsider my future celibacy theory, and was swept away by fate and her presence I let it all slip out of my hands. But I ain't bitter no more, so drop that theory!! /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
