well there r more and more signs that the rumor IS true and the world tour is even sooner than i thought , which means early 2008

yet it's still a possibility that celine will just give few special shows here and there and wouldnt like to sign for a 2 year world tour , if she is doing it she can kiss goodbye the idea of a new baby anytime soon...

 

i didnt read anywhere that the concert in SA is going to be part of her world tour , all they said was that they r trying to "accommodate the singer's touring schedule"...as we all know celine couldnt be there earlier cause she has her vegas gig and by saying "touring schedule" maybe they r talking about the promotion for her new album...

 

anyway - with all the reports in the media rene and celine wont have a choice , they would have to either confirm or deny this entire thing long before her vegas deal ends...i think in the coming weeks we'll learn much more about the world tour

i would be shocked if they announce it that early...don't they want ppl to still go to the vegas show...if they announce it too early, ppl won't go...even if they are two different types of shows...ppl will not pay extra to go see her in vegas

It's Concerts West, they confirmed the tour plans (even though nothing like dates, cities and lenght of the tour are 100% confirmed yet) and said an official statement is to be expected in early 2007.

only a few sources have said that they have heard of there being a tour...they said or rene or someone said something, but u can't really trust it unless it comes from the source

No, Rene didn't cofirmed there are plans for a one year tour starting 2008. He confirmed he received a serious offer for this tour, but there are NO PLANS YET. It's just a proposition. I think we all have to be patient and wait, maybe until next year, to find out exactly what the plans are. We'll drive ourselves crazy thinking about it

It is confirmed that one of the world's biggest superstars will be performing in South Africa in early February 2008 as part of her world tour. She will be debuting her visit to South Africa as the honorary headline artist for the annual "Unite of the Stars" gala banquet.

 

At this year’s "Unite of the Stars" gala banquet held at the Coca Cola Dome recently, Céline Dion announced that she will be international honorary headline artist to perform at the next event.

 

Traditionally this event takes place during November of each year, but to accommodate Dion's international touring schedule the event will be held early in 2008.

 

This will be Dion's first visit to South Africa and in her television address to the guests at the dinner said she was really excited and looking forward to coming to South Africa.

 

She is the biggest selling female artist of all time in South Africa, having sold in excess of three million albums.

 

Dion is being brought to South Africa by Mr Price and 94.7 Highveld Stereo.

This thread gets a little frustrating to read because everyone keeps talking like they know exactly what is goinf to happen! Obviously it's far too early yet to know what is going to actually happen; and I forsee this page having 120 pages before we actually get the hard facts from a more reliable source than websites and Brisbane's courier mail

 

What I can say is that after 4 or so years of France/North America centric Céline, the world is ready for her to visit a country besides one of those three. Céline is a global artiste and her fans around the world want to see her again! I just hope that her voice will be back to being able to really do justice to her hits.

I think there were absolutely no doubts whatsoever that she'll be attending the 400th anniversary of Quebec. It's her province, her people, her roots, her songs, her history - yes even her FRENCH history where a French song writer got so into her that he created a real almost legendary French-Quebec world in the songs he's written for her.

 

And as far as her voice on tour is concerned, Célinefull - I haven't heard anyone complaining about the dried out vocals on the LTAL tour so now considering Céline has been taking care of her voice lately she's definitely up to it. Not to mention she's holding back in Vegas big time vocally. You have also consider that a woman's voice matures around in her 40's so she's getting closely to her vintage sound which of course is relative but nonthelessbutstillofcourse she has a solid (vocal) ground to start the tour.

As global music icon and former Eurovision Song Contest winner, Céline Dion, enters the last year of her five year commitment to nightly Las Vegas shows, she is getting ready for one last Christmas in Nevada. And is preparing for a special performance in South Africa.

 

For an artist whose performance schedule hasn't changed much in four years, Céline Dion nonetheless continues to do promotional work with the world's media--largely to mark her 25th anniversary in show business in 2006. In the last six weeks Céline has done interviews with anglophone media in Canada, the US and Europe. This week a documentary about her relationship with the francophone press in Québec will be shown on Radio Canada's Enjeux (Wednesday 20:00 local time across Canada). All from her current base in Las Vegas.

 

But in February (according to website IAFrica.com), Céline will perform as "honorary headline artist" for the annual Unite the Stars fundraising banquet and concert in Johannesburg. Céline is the best selling recording artist in South African history, and the event was moved from November to accomodate her commitments in Vegas.  However, reports that this will be part of a world tour are incorrect: Céline will finish her commitments in Las Vegas, move back to Florida (she maintains residence in both Canada and the US), and try to have a second child through in vitro fertilisation (IVF)...as we reported a few weeks back.

 

Céline Dion won the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland singing Ne partez pas sans moi. After a straight neck-and-neck fight with Scott Fitzgerald of the United Kingdom, she was five points behind with only the Yugoslav jury to vote. They awarded Celine six points, putting her one point ahead, and everyone expected the United Kingdom to pick up either the 7,8,10 or 12 points. They gave 7 points to the Netherlands, then 8 to Germany, 10 to Norway, and finally 12 points to France, leaving Celine Dion the winner of one of the closest and most exciting Eurovision Song Contests in it's 52 year history!

 

In January 2007 Céline will release a DVD of her Las Vegas show entitled A New Day... the week of 17 January. As I read and understand this article the writer thinks the event in SA will be this coming February instead of in 2008 and therefore assumes the worldtour rumours can't be true because Céline is still in Vegas.

When it was released in the UK, it was described by some as a "limited edition". Unusually, I didn't have any difficulty getting hold of a copy - but then I again I did rush out to the shops on the day it was released
