Fanny! Posted April 27, 2006 at 04:19 PM Posted April 27, 2006 at 04:19 PM Well.... the Dutchies are back.. Unfortunately, it was a really really bad holiday. To make a long story short: the day after we arrived we heard about the cancellation news.. we were really devastated. Especially the ones who hadn't seen the show before.. Later that week, we decided to extend our holiday till Thursday (27th), we got word our plane tickets could be switched. We also already bought show tickets for the Wednesday show (26th). We were really afraid if the Wed. show would be cancelled too, but at least we still had a chance.. But then lightning struck: Sunday, just after midnight, we got a phonecall with some terrible news: all flights to Holland were absolutely full (until May 2nd). We certainly never expected that. So we immediately had to pack our bags and only had about 2-3 hours to sleep.... It was just a week of hell.. Fortunately we had a great time (sans Celine), so at least it's something.. Also, Céline is recovering slowly, and now they're looking at her conditition at a day-to-day basis (she's taking anti-biotics). Oh and she wasn't taken to hospital, because she didn't want to. Anyway, I feel so sorry for her and I really hope she recovers soon! Hopefully next time things will go very different..<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I m sorry !!!!! But Im glad we met. VanMerlin Posted April 30, 2006 at 09:50 PM Posted April 30, 2006 at 09:50 PM Once the nausea and intense vertigo are cured (a week or two, usually), the dizziness can last for a few months to a year, happening every so often when you move your head a certain way. I'm sure she'll have to be careful for quite some time, but the worst is probably over. Let's hope the acute symptoms don't recur. Quote

LVPantsGirl Posted May 1, 2006 at 02:19 AM Posted May 1, 2006 at 02:19 AM I had started a topic about Labyrinthitis about a week ago so that information on it and Celine's condition could be discussed but I guess it was deleted for one reason or another (hmph). Anyway, on Celine Maniacs it is reported that she is suffering from a rare ear disease and that she has been saying that it can last anywhere between two weeks to a year. They also credit Rene with saying that it started with a viral infection in her ear which is caused by fluid build up in the inner ear. I just want to say: That the Viral Labyrinthitis is just what the first word in it's title says. It is a virus and while it isn't very common it also isn't extremely rare. "Recovery from acute labyrinthine inflammation generally takes from one to six weeks, however it is not uncommon for residual symptoms (disequilibrium and/or dizziness) to last for many months or even years (Bronstein, 2002)". According to a fan who saw the show on Wednesday (same source as the one CSC fan has credited) Celine mentioned that she was glad that hers only lasted a week amongst other humorous remarks about what she went through. Labyrinthitis is something that can come back in bouts. It can just pop up, but I don't believe it has to do with movement of the person's head. The virus just (as any other virus does as well) stays in your body (until--some believe--it is cleasned out of your system) and it comes around now and then IF in the person's case, it sticks around for years. It's quite possible that Celine's case lasted only a week and may not come back. Judging from her statement, it is just that and only lasted the week and a half that she was absent. Just wanted to kinda' share the info I've gathered and what I understand of it. Quote
LVPantsGirl Posted May 1, 2006 at 02:23 AM Posted May 1, 2006 at 02:23 AM PS: A disease implies, to me, something that is very serious and is permanent. I don't think that, from what information we've been provided, this is so in Celine's case. Also.... I wanted to just state that Labyrinthitis IS the virus in the inner ear. It can be triggered by another virus, such as colds, the flu and a few others...including, I believe I saw on one source, allergies! Quote

Ronny83 Posted May 3, 2006 at 06:41 PM Posted May 3, 2006 at 06:41 PM Celine's Titanic Ear Pain by Gina Serpe May 3, 2006, 9:10 AM PT Celine Dion's heart may go on, but her ears are another story. The Las Vegas headliner was forced to cancel nearly a week's worth of gigs last month due to a rare ear disease called labyrinthitis. The Titanic-voiced singer returned to the Caesar's Palace stage Friday, though not necessarily with a clean bill of health. Rene Angelil, Dion's husband and longtime manager, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the problem began with a viral illness and that fluid build-up in her inner ear led to severe cases of vertigo. A posting on the singer's official Website last month informed ticket holders of the cancellation: "Celine continues to recover from the virus she contracted last week which spread to her inner ear. Medically known as viral labyrinthitis, the condition causes nausea, dizziness, and general weakness. "Her doctor has prescribed medication to treat the associated irritations and instructed her to rest for the next five days, so that the virus can run its course." According to the Review-Journal, the Grammy winner, who has performed several times since returning, has told fans that the condition could last anywhere "from a couple weeks to a year." Which means it may interfere with an important milestone. Next Sunday, Dion will celebrate the 500th performance of her headlining show by giving back to the city, donating the night's proceeds to the Celine Dion Foundation, which will in turn disperse the money to 10 separate local charities. "The people of Las Vegas have been so good to us since we moved here," she said. "By dedicating this special show to local charities and contributing to their efforts to help the community, it gives us a chance to say thank you in a very meaningful way. We're hoping to raise a million dollars on May 7th, for these great organizations." The Candian chanteuse ends her four-year, $100 million run in Sin City in late 2007, though the stage won't be empty for long. It was recently announced that Cher, who not long ago finished up her latest farewell tour, will be taking Dion's place at the Coliseum, though like her predecessor, Cher will have a new space built specifically for her show. She kicks off her run in 2008.Source: http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,18941,00.html Quote The Celine Dion Italian fanbase - CelineDionItalia.com

celine the power of my dream Posted May 3, 2006 at 09:04 PM Posted May 3, 2006 at 09:04 PM (edited) This is what she told in short: She began telling how it started. It started saturday april 15. She did the soundcheck and felt dizzy she thought that she didn't had enough sugar or food so she ate something but it didn't help so they cancelled that show at the very last minute people where already in the theatre. Celine herself thought that she would be back at sunday but sunday afternoon she felt worse, so they called in the doctor and did a bloodtest. The result was viral labyrinthitis. She told this could last from one week to one year but she was glad she was back with a week. A funny quote of Celine about her dizzyness was "I was not only singing the Titanic I was on the Titanic". She went on by saying that she knows there are people who came to Vegas for nothing and that the people in the audiance probably know that better than she does. A quote of celine about the cancellations "It's hard to do a show it's even harder to cancel one" Then it's was time for I'm Alive and she started that with the usuall "shall we go for it"!!! Later in the show while singing Love can move mountains she said something funny while a dancer came running to her she said "don't make me dizzy, don't make me dizzy" I was there and I'm telling you she didn't sounded or looked ill at all she was full of energy. She was laughing alot she made funny faces funny jumps exactly the things celine does when she wants to go for it again and she sounded flawless no sign of feeling sick loosing her voice or whatever. I just red that Celine herself said that she was at 95% well even a Celine 95% is a very good celine Edited May 3, 2006 at 09:10 PM by celine the power of my dream Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Taking Chances Tour: Antwerpen, Paris, Amsterdam, New York «««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««« http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v355/M-etje/Celine/Banners/CelineAND15-kl1.png
