How many different languages do you speak?

Salla, you got a good heads start   You'll make a good transaltor   Spanish is quite an easy language to learn if you are fluent with English.

 I love the fact that the Finnish schooling system makes you/gives you the chance to learn so many languages. Most Finns speak or at least understand English and Swedish, cause those are the two languages we all HAVE to study. And the system is good for the language freaks like me, we get to study at least 4 foreign languges, some have studied even more.

OK, so since we're listing all languages, I took Latin in highschool and first year of college and I also learned Old English, which is so much like German!! LOL But thank God English got rid of all the inflections! LOL

I would love to learn French, but first I need to be more advanced in Spanish.

Well, my native language is German. I can speak English, but better writing. I've learned French in school, but I've forgotten nearly all. I can read some Dutch which is similar to a German dialect. ;) Would be cool to learn Danish, but seems to be very hard to learn.

I speak Portuguese (my native language), English (not fluent) but I guess it's O.K I lived almost 6 months in Toronto, Canada to learn and to improve my English but it's not enough to be fluent.

I studied French a bit but I just did the book 1 of the course 5 yeasr ago lol I forgot many things lol but with Celine I can remember some words. Sometimes I can understand french 'cause some words are similar to Portuguese.. but I cannot talk in french well, understand well, just a few words here and there... lol

Spanish, I just know very little too. It sounds similar to Portuguese but it's not. Some words in Spanish like "esquisito" means "good" (if I havent forgotten it.. lol) while in Portuguese it means "weird".

So that's all lol but I want to learn French, Italian,German and Spanish. for now lol then in the future know knows... lol anyway, my goal now is to be very fluent in English first. After I want to learn Freanch and Spanish. Spanish is more important but I don't like it lol I LOVE French! :)

I'm from Brazil, so my native language is Portuguese. When I started listening to Mariah Carey it took me some months and I was able to speak English (not just because of Mariah, of course), and now I speak fluent English (although you might find some mistakes in my messages). Now that I'm a Celine fan, I'm really interested in learning French. I'm planning to start my course next semester...

I was going to start anew thread about languages but I found this one. I was interested in hearing what languages everyone speaks because I am trying to learn some French myself. Right now, I speak English, and basic French. I understand a lot in french, I am just having trouble putting my sentences together. I live in New Jersey , so I can never really practice my French, so it's not improving. When I do go to Montreal, I'm too nervous to even try! I'm afraid people are going to be like WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?? lol. I can't pronounce the damn "r"'s in french ethier. Anway, I was wondering for those who know more than one language, how long did it take you to become fluent in a second language and how did you learn it? Edited by Koolan
