SimplyCeline Posted September 19, 2008 at 09:42 PM Posted September 19, 2008 at 09:42 PM It really is awful. There was a bit where the camera turned to the royalty or whoever was rich enough to sit at the front and OMG they did not look pleased... It such a shame though when you think of what a legend she was and what that voice used to do. And now she can even stay in tune or in key. And she cant pitch either. And she looked lost on that mega mega stage! Quote

disadiva Posted September 24, 2008 at 09:42 AM Posted September 24, 2008 at 09:42 AM Hi everyone, I don't post often on Whitney-Fan forum but I do read the forums every other day but I had to post this piece of news as it's unmissable. A friend of this whitney fan who informed him few days ago/Weeks that Whitney is indeed having vocal surgery with Dr Steven Zeitel who is the Director of Voice Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School & of the Voice Center at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Apparently he's the best and has worked on some high profile patients before. I don't know if it's BEEN done or is TO BE done but Whitney has actually been in for consultations as recently as last week. My friend "assumes" that the surgery "has" been recently done because of the type of tests they're running on Whitney; they're more post-surgery in nature. The good news is nearly 80% of voice capacity can be restored after this type of surgery. The bad news is that rehabilitation takes 6 or 7mths. If she's only recently had surgery then her recovery time would take her waaaay past a November 2008 album release. Oh and one last thing. Dr Zeitel doesn't take on patients for surgery if they're still smoking. I'm happy to hear Whitney's taking proactive steps but concerned about the recovery time. The album is pushed back to 2009. If This is true i hope she will recover and take care of herself and come back strong and powerful..because nobody had a voice like Whitney when she came out in 1977 as a background singer for Lou Rawls and a smash debut at age 22 in 1985. It's risky, all that surgery, but let's pray she gets 110%! Quote "...It's the circle of life. You gotta look forward. Thomas Posted September 25, 2008 at 07:48 PM Posted September 25, 2008 at 07:48 PM (edited) I hope it goes well for her, I notice on Wikipedia it said she developed them during the Bodyguard tour of 1993-1994 due to the fact she was unable to rest her voice. Thank God Celine hasn't been affected that we know of although it was also interesting to read Mariah has been affected since childhood. Julie Andrews voice was completely ruined when she had surgery so it seems it is extremely risky, that was a real shame too because she had a very pretty singing voice. Well, you know, Bonnie still sang correctly, if not powerfully... And I can't say the same for Whitney, who has just oversmoked by a BOX or two, after drinking two bottles of 80% Vodka and catching а cold in a blizard simultaneously...
