Whitney to perform on the Olympics

I caught these on another board and the performances are horrendous. It's so bizarre how she could sound like this live and sound halfway decent in the studio, though the conditions in a studio are much better. She needs to stop this "talk singing." It sound awful and she shouldn't even bother with high notes if she can't hit them! It sounds awful to croak out her old songs.

It's not only the high notes... What is the wrost in these performances for me is that she is out of rhythm most of the time... btw some of Mariah's old background singers are there.

i didn't notice it. im not as die hard fan of mariah as u are, but who are u talking about? melonie daniels? sherree price? shanrae price? (obviously not trey lol), clarence? the may west of brooklyn? (am i right lol), mary ann tatum?

 

I don't know their names but some of them aren't working with Mariah anymore. I only know Mary Ann and Trey.

Ahh that is so sad look what drugs can do to your voice and Whitney use to be so talented and hit those high notes. Overall - it's a mess and it's depressing. At her prime, she was as good as Celine - and she was better than Celine with some notes/range. But today - she is declined greatly.

 

However - there are certainly parts of these songs that still sound very nice. Her voice isn't "gone". But compared to what it once was - it really doesn't even compare.

I believe 100% - that if she took the time to get her voice into as good of shape as it can be - then she could sing the hell out of some of her classic songs. Certainly not as vocally perfect as she once could - but she could do it.

 

Mariah, for example, is smart enough to not tackle some of her more difficult songs - such as "All I've Ever Wanted" - because there's no way she could sound the same. So she changed her style. And that seems to be the problem here - Whitney needs to change her style, stay away from the big songs of her past - unless it's a one song event or something.

She just sounds hoarse most of the time, and switches between head voice, falsetto, whistles, and whizzles - almost like the machines in a toy factory.

 

If you watch this video of Whitney, she can barely sing "Happy Birthday..." One of the world's easiest songs to sing.

 

The whole concert performance is embarrassing, and, I feel, is an insult to the nation of Kazakhstan.

Oh my God....I feel so bad for her. She used to be so, so, so amazing and now, this is what's left of her vocally. It's so awkward and painful and embarrassing to watch...you can't even tell there used to be a voice there. It's like a bad IDOL audition. The line "I'm drifting on a lonely sea" has never been more suiting. She's like a bad imitation of ehrself...she shouldn't try to hit those notes when she's so far from reaching them.
