It was such an incredible event. Although it was 05:00 a.m. in Greece, I really wanted to watch the "Celebration of life". Most of the speaks were lovely and I laughed with the imitations and some of the stories that I heard for the first time. The most emotional moments for me were David's speech and performance and of course Celine's speech. From the very first word she used I had tears in my eyes and I felt like it had been a long time since I've heard her voice. I'm amazed by her strength, she looked great and it seems that she has everything under control. Now, I'm sure that she will be ready to come back on stage on February 23rd.

I hope someone will download the video before they take it down.

Yeah, that was baaaad.  I hope he apologized after.

Yeah, and he called Anne Marie just Anne, and kept calling RC Rene. Still, his speech was one of the best - and when he talked about his dad - and when he told Celine that light and love would come into her life again in ways she can't imagine - so touching.

And at least Dave Platel came up next and said all the names correctly. His speech was amazing too.

Ok weird, my quoted post with the tweets fixed itself. Either that, or someone edited it for me. Either way, thanks!

It was undeniably beautiful remembrance of her husband. I feel like this is truly what being an open book looks, sounds, and feels like--Celine let us in on their private time, their love, and the work-home balance that characterized their lives together. Bless her and bless their love. Infinitely admirable regardless of the fact that they are celebrities. What a beautiful pair of human beings.

I think it was probably a healing event for all involved, including Celine. However, I do agree that some of what she chose to say struck me as a bit strange. She didn't talk about the family they built together, the story (which we all know) of how they met, no real recollection on the success they shared together. All implied and understood by us. I am not being critical, I just simply found it curious. Perhaps she still needs time to properly express the immense emotional turmoil she is going through. That said, she was strong and elegant.

Go, Celine. You have our hearts and condolences.

It could be, that talking about the things you missed in her speech would have been too painful for her. Her struggle with some of the words said more than any other word could do. And maybe it could have been also some sort of respect for Renés other children. It hurted me, as since the funeral some media mainly focused on RC and the twins. But seeing Anne-Marie sometimes crying so desperately at the reseption or entering the chruch at the funeral really took me. Or seeing Patrick and Jean-Pierre whiping away tears.

I can't slightly envision how hard it must have been for her finding the "right" words for her speech. Those brief moments, when a glimpse of her immense inner pain emerged gave a tiny sign, how hard it must have been.

And you are right! This was a beautiful rememberance!

No, I think they all knew, that he didn't say it of disrespect. That whole thing was so emotional and every blooper just a result of too much emotion.

I felt the same like you!
But I some kind of worry for her. No human being can be that strong for such a long time during the mourning process. And please don't get me wrong!!! - I truely wish she can allow herself being weak ... every one who lost some beloved one knows, how much energy is needed to withstand the immense pain and show strength to others during the reception and funeral. And Celine showed the world such dignity dealing with that "public pain". Rememering her shaking after six or seven hours standing next to the open casket ... unmeasurable, how must energy that took of her! And still, watching for her kids and the other family members nearly as a rock in the troubled sea. Gosh! She really deserves the luxury of being weak and totally let go behind closed doors!

I think she looked gorgeous.  No skinnier than she has been. I judge her "skinny" look off of her look from AND.
I think she looked rested well as rested as she could be. Either that or great makeup :giggle:
I have had the time of my life following this woman!  Much love.

I think she said a lot in her speech as she was looking for the right words.  I think she would have had a different persona without his, what's the right word, influence.
I have had the time of my life following this woman!  Much love.

i didn't think celine was rambling through her speech. I thought it was very moving, sincere, and most especially very respectful of rene. Focusing more on rene the person. Not the husband or the father to their kids.

I'm still overwhelmed after everything... the wake, funeral and now this. We can never be thankful enough that they let us all be part of it too, it makes me so emotional  I say that a lot, but I never thought it was possible for me to love Celine, and Rene, more than I already do.

Everyone's speeches were truly great with all those sweet, amazing stories. Couldn't stop smiling and laughing! LOVED David's speech, "We all need a little Rene and Celine in our lives" indeed you're right, sir! And on Celine- "Everywhere you go, your light and goodness shines"
I completely lost it when he performed and when Celine also broke down a little at the end of the song.

And then her speech... oh God. It was a lovely speech under such circumstances, spoken straight from the heart. I'm so proud of her and I'm so proud to be a fan of such a remarkable woman <3

OH and the heart shaped shadows  thought I might have been imagining this because I was almost falling asleep at that point lol

Great speeches, especially Mitch, and David. Only one I didn't particularly like as much was Linda's speech.
The music was wonderful.
The sculpture was and is poignant.
Lovely to see all the immediate family on stage with celine.
Patrick did a great job.
Celine looked great, considering the past few weeks. Seeing her laugh was a bit of a relief really.  And thankfully she didn't look as tired. So she will be ok. It'll take time, but she will be ok.
Few of the stories really made me laugh. David swearing, Bobby with no shoes, playing golf in the hotel room, and especially Mitch saying about no being able to pay for anything, about RC "my god there's 2 of them". 😂 I tweeted Mitch and told him I loved that - which he liked lol. 😆
Celine crying but laughing also. 😯😊 she held it together wonderfully. The hearts shadow forming over her was a lovely, subtle touch. As for her speech. Yes it was a little rambling, but as she was partly using her head and partly what was written, it's to be expected.
It was a perfect, fitting tribute to a man who achieved so much, who stayed true to his roots, and will be missed.
I only wish I'd had the nerve to speak to René when I saw him.

It was a classic Celine speech but very distracted and absent minded, which is certainly understandable. On one hand I was expecting deeper and different kind of speech from her, but on the other hand, considering she is still trying to cope with Rene's passing, it was a simple and genuine thank you. I think last few words summed the state of mind she was in. Linda Smith's speech was one of the best. David Foster should have controlled the words he used and was it Rene's  request for him to sing? Patrick seems not very comfortable with public speaking.

what??? Linda gave the best speech. David Foster should have not allowed with his obnoxious words choice. Patrick needs to practice his public speaking and if he has accent it is ok and we all get it. I think at one moment even Celine looked at him like "WTF, be more serious". He kept chuckling and correcting his pronunciation.

I think amongst everything Celine was trying to say last night I think the main thing she was trying to get across was basically no one likes everyone but Rene didn't show it and he didn't let Celine show it either. He wanted to keep her grounded and I think Rene loved life so much he didn't see why he should waste his time and energy focusing on the negative people. That's one of the remarkable qualities Rene had. I for example cannot keep my mouth shut. If I don't like someone I will voice it or if they displease me I will fume again and again and again. But Rene wasn't that way and I don't think he wanted Celine to be that way. I think what she was trying to say with the tv comment was that again tied to the fact that life is short. So I'm thinking once they got the news of Rene's second diagnosis I think they kinda slowed everything down and absorbed every little thing more like watching tv and Celine did these things because while she may have no enjoyed what Rene was watching I think she knew time was short so she wanted to spend as much time with him as possible. I think those are some of things she was trying to get across last night but it was just difficult for her for various reasons but I understood her and I hope the public will too. I hope they carefully listen to her words and see what she was really trying to say because though short and perhaps mixed in with some rambling I found them to be powerful.
