Yeah, that was baaaad. I hope he apologized after.
Yeah, and he called Anne Marie just Anne, and kept calling RC Rene. Still, his speech was one of the best - and when he talked about his dad - and when he told Celine that light and love would come into her life again in ways she can't imagine - so touching.
And at least Dave Platel came up next and said all the names correctly. His speech was amazing too.

I think it was probably a healing event for all involved, including Celine. However, I do agree that some of what she chose to say struck me as a bit strange. She didn't talk about the family they built together, the story (which we all know) of how they met, no real recollection on the success they shared together. All implied and understood by us. I am not being critical, I just simply found it curious. Perhaps she still needs time to properly express the immense emotional turmoil she is going through. That said, she was strong and elegant.
Go, Celine. You have our hearts and condolences.
It could be, that talking about the things you missed in her speech would have been too painful for her. Her struggle with some of the words said more than any other word could do. And maybe it could have been also some sort of respect for Renés other children. It hurted me, as since the funeral some media mainly focused on RC and the twins. But seeing Anne-Marie sometimes crying so desperately at the reseption or entering the chruch at the funeral really took me. Or seeing Patrick and Jean-Pierre whiping away tears.
I can't slightly envision how hard it must have been for her finding the "right" words for her speech. Those brief moments, when a glimpse of her immense inner pain emerged gave a tiny sign, how hard it must have been.
And you are right! This was a beautiful rememberance!

I felt the same like you!
But I some kind of worry for her. No human being can be that strong for such a long time during the mourning process. And please don't get me wrong!!! - I truely wish she can allow herself being weak ... every one who lost some beloved one knows, how much energy is needed to withstand the immense pain and show strength to others during the reception and funeral. And Celine showed the world such dignity dealing with that "public pain". Rememering her shaking after six or seven hours standing next to the open casket ... unmeasurable, how must energy that took of her! And still, watching for her kids and the other family members nearly as a rock in the troubled sea. Gosh! She really deserves the luxury of being weak and totally let go behind closed doors!

Everyone's speeches were truly great with all those sweet, amazing stories. Couldn't stop smiling and laughing! LOVED David's speech, "We all need a little Rene and Celine in our lives" indeed you're right, sir! And on Celine- "Everywhere you go, your light and goodness shines"
I completely lost it when he performed and when Celine also broke down a little at the end of the song.
And then her speech... oh God. It was a lovely speech under such circumstances, spoken straight from the heart. I'm so proud of her and I'm so proud to be a fan of such a remarkable woman <3
OH and the heart shaped shadows

The music was wonderful.
The sculpture was and is poignant.
Lovely to see all the immediate family on stage with celine.
Patrick did a great job.
Celine looked great, considering the past few weeks. Seeing her laugh was a bit of a relief really. And thankfully she didn't look as tired. So she will be ok. It'll take time, but she will be ok.
Few of the stories really made me laugh. David swearing, Bobby with no shoes, playing golf in the hotel room, and especially Mitch saying about no being able to pay for anything, about RC "my god there's 2 of them". 😂 I tweeted Mitch and told him I loved that - which he liked lol. 😆
Celine crying but laughing also. 😯😊 she held it together wonderfully. The hearts shadow forming over her was a lovely, subtle touch. As for her speech. Yes it was a little rambling, but as she was partly using her head and partly what was written, it's to be expected.
It was a perfect, fitting tribute to a man who achieved so much, who stayed true to his roots, and will be missed.
I only wish I'd had the nerve to speak to René when I saw him.
