According to a fan review posted on the official website, Celine sang "The Reason" as a duet with Carole King.

I know Carole King performed with Celine in Canada, during the show at the Molson Center (the one where Celine was presented with her billboard awards). But I can't find anything to confirm she was also at the Inglewood show or anything to say Carole was on tour or possibly in the area. So this is unconfirmed unless someone who went can let us know!

I was at that show, and I'm pretty sure it's correct that Carole King came out on stage, but it's so long ago and I've been to many hundreds of concerts since that I can't remember 100%.  I'm also pretty sure King lived/lives around LA so she wouldn't have needed to be there touring or anything for her to show up - would have been pretty easy to arrange.

Sorry I can't confirm 100%, but I'd place likelihood at 95%...

Nice, thanks for the info! I would say with what you have said and the original review also mentioning her being there, it is more or less confirmed. How cool it would have been to see it as a duet!

do you have similar rrviews for the promotional concerts in early 1998, or any earlier tours. The only review I found was one from an early The Colour Of My Love date.

I thought there was video of them singing together on the LTAL tour...or am I imagining having seen it?

For sure Carole did attend another concert (in Montreal?) when she presented Celine with all those awrds that one time. Bette Midler presented her virtually, and Carole was there in person.

They did sing it together in Montreal in December 1998. Only parts of it were shown in a documentary.

I did find a couple from the pre-tour shows in 1998 but I can't remember what site they were archived under. I'll try to re-find them. I learned that in the Hawaii shows she performed "Let's Talk About Love" with a children's choir, and this was new information since this wasn't ever documented before. And of course it was using the end stage from the FIY tour, which also made up the bulk of the setlist. They said her voice was is in good shape and strong, but towards the end she was a bit wobbly and was drinking lots of water. So I guess she was a bit tired.

I’d love an early 1998 performance of The Reason and LTAL. I noticed for the highest notes of LTAL the lyrics were slightly different even by the time of the New York concert. Also most of The Reason performances from the tour are lowkey dodgy.

Will forever be a fan of those leather jumpsuits/catsuits lol...though it is odd to see them in a different "era", probably mostly because of her dark hair makes it no go as well.

Now that it has been decades since the tour, do we know of any songs which were OFFICIALLY rehearsed for the tour, but ultimately axed before Opening Night? By "OFFICIALLY," I mean in the vein of "Love Is All We Need" for "A New Day..." and "Je lui dirai" for "Taking Chances World Tour." Thanks!

I mean even if they didnt cut Love is on the Way we dont have an official recording of the tour besides the french show. So it wouldnt matter anyway.

I would have loved Us or Miles to Go.

True but at least we have a bootleg. Her team, and whoever else made her voice on that DVD sound a bit strange anyway. I personally prefer bootlegs a lot of times anyway because the Paris 1999 DVD is just one example of a professional release that was in great, in part because of the editing.

"Miles To Go (Before I Sleep)" is one I had wished to hear live in some capacity. I fear that day will now never come. I also feel "Just A Little Bit Of Love" should have been incorporated into the show in some form, too. Since Sony was all about promoting different singles in different territories at the same time, perhaps the U.S. should have gotten "Just A Little Bit Of Love" as a single and as part of their part of the tour, and the rest of the world could have gotten "Treat Her Like A Lady." Ah, well. Such is life.

I've never heard of songs that were part of the rehearsals. It would be very interesting to know if they had considered other LTAL songs!

It's interesting TPOL wasn't a part of the regular set of performed songs. But also, I don't think that part on LIOTW is correct, cos we only have one bootleg of it right?

• During concerts in 1999, "I'm Your Angel" was performed in lieu of "Love Is On the Way". Additionally, "The Power of Love" was performed in lieu of "All By Myself".

IMO it would have been awesome if they had made a mashup between JALBOL and LCMM! Those songs would go so well together! Unfortunately the acoustic medley (with was great) and the bee gees medley (which was fun... but was it needed?) took too much time away from her own songs to be performed.

Of LTAL I would have loved to hear 'Us' live as well. I guess it wouldn't have worked in the round stage setting. But it would have been a great song for AND!

Don't quote me on that but Us was supposed to be part of the next Vegas show... They worked on it a little bit at least. Not sure if it'd have make the final setlist. I guess we'll never get to hear this song live now unfortunately

During the Halifax concert on Dec 5th 1998, TLYM and All By Myself had been removed and TOPL had been added. I remember being devastated at not having TLYM, but was happy to have TPOL.

wait were you at that concert? TLYM was performed in every other date of the tour.

She didn’t perform it in french concerts except Paris. It’s All Coming Back to Me Now took its place in Montreal and Quebec.

Yes I was at this concert. Was the first time I seen Céline in concert. I also believe this was one of the first shows where Gregory Charles stepped in for one of her backup, singers that had just left.

Yes, Terry Bradford left after October 1998 I think. I’m guessing you don’t have any recording of the concert? With this new information that makes me wonder where this clip of two love you more comes from.

I think either Pittsburgh (29th November 1998) or Albany (1st December 1998) as both of these shows were English speaking shows. Possibly both actually.

My guess would be that Taro Hakase was not available when the tour resumed in November 1998 (they stopped for over a month and when the show came back they had new costumes, Gregory Charles joined as a new backup singer (since Terry Bradford left) and ABM had been replaced with TPOL. So Mark Wood may have been called in to cover both of those English shows. TLYM was then removed for all of the French shows in Montreal and Taro Hakase rejoined the tour in January 1999 when they toured Asia. He was present at the European shows that summer, and appeared via recorded footage for the rest. Roddy Chong from Shania Twain's band appeared as the violinist in a couple of shows in the USA as well, we have footage on YouTube (from Houston I believe) and he is also on the New Orleans bootleg.
