Thoughts:

- disappointed in the literature, it was so scanty, almost like they cheapened out on the booklets.

With ALL the 800 hours of footage and recording of all the concerts (i'm sure), couldnt they use different concert footage  as least to try to make the film more authentic.
but of course, Celine and family did a GREAT job in just being there and being themselves.

I Heard about this movie many Times but I have never seen it...
I have to say that Celine was not as sexy as now so it's less interesting I was waiting from Taking chances tour just to see her naked...

Well to be fair...its not crap on the cd its just  not 100 percent full celine potential...i wouldnt say its crap...the all by myself on the cd and dvd is very good give or take one or two things..and YES they could have used a different vocal, but its still not crap lol I know what you mean though..i really wonder what actual concert they used the vocals from? I have to ask this though...why  does it sound like its really hard for her to get the notes right in the hits medley on the cd? The medley sounds the most off on the entire cd. Its like she is really struggling singing all those songs. Just curious. Anyone know where most of this audio was recorded for the dvd? Boston? Montreal?

Oh sorry! What I mean is that it would be from another singer it Will be ok  
but it's Celine and in the DVD she didn't use more than 50% of her potential! I am not saying it's her fault but I don't know! She used to be on fire and for me, those performances are not from her So I understand that she was tired that night, she is just a human beign but why didn't they show the best of the tour in the documentary as they can put whatever they want from every cities they wantin it instead of repeating the same footages...  

Sorry moderators you can put this discussion on the other thread ... which is not fair btw because it makes me feel like I don't love her

fan2celinedion..have you seen the actual dvds? just wondering if you were disappointed in them...most of what i have been hearing is very positive in regards to the concert dvd itself...are you very disappointed in the actual concert show thats on dvd?

I have to say that for the concert, they did a very good Job! I loved all those colours on screen, Celine looked very beautiful and I loved the interlude video! It's very well filmed! I loved SMGO (when she was with JosyCeline and the dance at the end of lcmm) But the way Celine sang some songs was desapointing   they took IAMW from Montreal while Boston version was better, she didn't sang the high notes in Je sais pas etc... Well I said to myself Celine is not a machine maybe she was stressed when they told her that it was filmed for the DVD! But what I didn't liked was why they didn't put her best performances in the movie then? (which was very well filmed too btw) what the hell are they going to do with all the concerts they filmed then?

I don't think that at this stage of her career she can be intimidated by any camera that makes her feel under pressure I'm sure the majority (if not all) the concerts were taped, and that's not a problem for her. She has 29 years of career and she's such a big proffesional

Perhaps they have different choices of what we think they are the best performances? I mean maybe the concept of what we think its the "best" Céline is different from what the production team thought the best they could offer us Maybe, despite we love the Je Sais Pas performance of Montreal, they didn't like it for whatever reason?

and yeah that use of autotune is very weird   he uses autotune on her voice when she is on the right key but never when she is off-key

They should know what seperates a good performance from a fantastic performance. They gave us(for the most part) good solid performances on this release. I have always questioned the artistic and creative choices J productions have used for celines concerts. A New Day...very odd way they did that. Sur Les Plaines...FANTASTIC! Hardly any complaints. It looked and felt like a real concert..not spliced together and edited sloppy..of  course it was just ONE show to work with..not 4 or 5!...and I havent seen this dvd yet but from what i hear the editing is very good and the angles are very good too, but vocally they could have used better nights im sure. I will never understand Julie Synders logic or J productions logic in many of the choices they use..but thats life.

Well, in accordance to all of ur stories and of others too, now it seems that not any of her dvd-es in whole career had ever been alive. How can u presume sth like that?? How do u know?? I mean, this is a ridiculous statement. Of course she does playbacks and the things like that, but u cant say that all the concerts had been non-alive Without any offense, but i dont see the point of this. Im sure that this thread has almost converted the people into negative fans with negative thoughts only(speaking generally). Im not against anybody, i just dont like the way what people say about Celine sometimes. At the conclusion seems that she never sang any song alive for god sake. It just pisses me off, sorry.

Yeah, I too like a lot more Les Plaines concert than Las Vegas one I don't know what was doing her hairdresser Zhane to do that horrible flattened hairdo to Céline that night, or what was thinking her make-up artists to paint her face like a clown that night too

Wherever there is the eyeshadow and a bulky hair... She was perfect during this world tour

i rather watch Vegas DVD than sur les plaines, in that one Celine looks like a Zombie, the cover is worst than... wait a minute it's identical to the TCWT DVD/CD     and I don't like it when she sings with french singers! Of course she was not as beautiful than during TCWT, in Vegas but she didn't look like a zombie either   and I hated when she destroyed Lady Marmalade with a duck voice...

Her voice wasn't in top shape in Les Plaines I agree, neither I especially enjoyed her duets with those french/canadian artists (except LAEE ) but at least her hairdo and look was zillion times better than in Vegas DVD

IS it safe to say that with most ALL official releases, AU Coeur Du State,A New Day audio cd, A New Day Dvd, Sur Les Plaines, Taking Chances DVD..that her voice isnt 100 percent captured the way we all know it can be? With any official release it seems that we still havent gotten the amazing vocal work celine is capable of doing. I dont know what it is, but they dont seem to care much about capturing celines FULL vocal potential. The lastest release shows they dont care enough to seperate the good from the fantastic...and they choose just to pick the good. I think most would agree with celines official releases there has always  been SOMETHING missing than when we go see her live in person and see just what she is capable of doing. Luckily this dvd will do the  best of showing her the best so far I think. I think personally for whatever next release celine needs to pick a different team entirely to show off her amazing work.

Back to the topic of the DVD...I honestly think there were some amazing vocal moments captured on this release. With some of the weak wobbly notes we also get some really amazing great notes in some songs. I will probably always pass the HITS medley on the cd along with Shadow of Love, but I think this release comes alot closer in showing off celines vocals. I gotta say this because it really bugs me..they could have doctored the HITS medley alot better instead of letting some of those wobbly notes get by..it you are gonna autotune POL just autotune all the wobbly notes..I would be happier with that actually lol. All in all..I dont even mind the voice cracking in ABM...its raw and not pitch perfect, but thats ok. It STILL sounds very good regardless. Bring on more reviews of the DVD!!!

I mean they cut and paste the whole concert  and even cut and pasting from the english to the french CD's and DVD  
DO they really think that people who buy the english Discs will never buy the french discs and vice versa.
Her whole team needs to wake the *bleep* up and forward into the internet and digital age where everything  is instant access and disected and analysed and free for all the world to see.
Next Celine needs to take a active role in her releases.

If she had a great vocal night and she nails a certain song, all she has to do is tell the production team that she wants that song in the DVD. If she did this for all the songs can you imagine the GEM of a disc we would get.

ANd for God sake's don't repeat the same songs on both english and french cd. What was the friggin' point in recording every concert then. And i know that they do record every concert - visual and audio in digital

Look, if they are not going to give us an authentic straight up DVD of one night recorded live , well whats the use in giving us B grade cut and paste job.

Its Celine herself who has control over all this, because NO ONE on her production team is that much of a fan like us where they even care that much to have only the best quality. Celine has to step up and say something for once. She can tell them "DON'T use this performance or USE this performance".

Look at the whistle notes she did in Its a Man's World and RDMH all across Europe, Why didnt they use those , but NOOOOOO instead they use the ones where she doesnt put anything extra into the performances.

I will never get them.

The ridiculous thing is that if someone has the Autour Du Monde book in one hand and the TCWT dvd/cd in the other and he's said that the DVD/CD version has to include a selection of the hundreds of photographs in the book, he will probably ask if they are silly when they put those b/w bizarre pictures

The whole release is simply titled "Taking Chances The Concert" meaning the footage could be filmed damn well anywhere. Yes Celine mentions Boston and might mention Montreal but no where have the deceived people as they do NOT state anywhere that the whole DVD is from one place.

They have marketed this release as "Taking Chances The Concert" and that's exactly what we are getting - a concert from the Taking Chances tour.

but with all due respect you seem to be missing the fact that they also used the exact same concert footage and slapped it between the documentary bits in Celine-TTEOTW. and it was very deceiving because for example they would put a caption of " Pretoria- Feb. 2008" and would show concert footage and fans applauding from God knows where, the same exact ones that we saw in the concert    so that "point" you made is moot.  
I'm blaming J productions for this. I dont know even HOW on earth Julie Snyder became  a producer. She is a B rate tv personality. just because she is a friend of Celine she is given the job

Well they only had the full production crew at Boston and Montreal, so the footage wouldn't be as good if they took the best performances for different cities.

As far as I'm concerned we've been spoilt with this tour. We've got videos on YouTube from every concert so we know that there are better nights. Where as in the 90s and Vegas people were happy with what they got as there was very little to compare them to.

they record the vocals for every single concert. they could have dubbed in her excellent performances as they didnt seem to have a problem cutting and pasting in re-recorded vocals anyway.  
and to say we are spoiled with this tour and citing "youtube" is ridiculous because Rene and their productin team has nothing to do with that.
