I don't think whether or not she beats Alicia is important. All that matters is that the album doesn't flop. It's not like people can't just buy BOTH of their albums if they like both singers. There's no rule that you have to choose so it's not really competition. Even if she's #4 I'll be happy.

I was in tescos tonight and they were re arranging the album and single charts on there shelves while referring to a spreedsheet....
celines album is now at no. 3, spice girls at no.2, and leona no.1...i wonder if this is tomorrows final chart positions for the uk???

I am not disappointed at all by those numbers. In fact, they are better than I tought they would be. How many 40 years-old do you hear regularly on pop radio stations or see on top of the charts? Not often.

i hope so. spice girls wont stay on the charts too long. celine needs to maintain her postition at least

I believe Celine will still debut at #4 Darren when the charts are announed tomorrow.

It's a strong debut across the world but if this album goes the same way One Heart, Miracle and A New Day... did then in a few weeks it'll be out of the charts across the world. Sony and Celine need to react now, she isn't back in Vegas until 29th November. Taking Chances single is what 2 months old now, they could get away with a new single, otherwise watch the album fall down the charts.

Not sure if it's a good idea to release a new single just before Christmas. Mainly in the US where most adult contemporary radios play Christmas music most of the time!!! Maybe a few days after Christmas might be a good timing... It looks like TC single is still climbing slowly in the US. It's now on the Billboard Dance Chart too (number 46 I think)!!!

The first week sales of an album are not that important; what matters is longevity. "Falling Into You" was a huge success for over a year, and though its predecessor had included the number 1 single "The Power Of Love," its last two singles totally flopped ("Think Twice" 95 and "Only One Road" 93) in the US. Then, remember that "Tell Him" was doing miserably when "Let's Talk About Love" debuted.
Still, Celine is opening with amazing sales this week. We definitely would like her to be number 1 all over the world, but we have to give the album time.

Im sorry but in Canada D'elles was the highest selling debut of the year at no 1 and if this english album isnt then there is something wrong. Who is Number 1 and how much has Celine Sold in canada the past couple of Number 1s debuted with sales of 30k. This is all very unsusual I think

I think there's nothing wrong with the song "Taking Chances". All of my non Celine fan friends liked it. I remember most of you loved it when the single is not yet released on the charts. I don't know why you are all saying now that is a wrong choice?

BUT the song is good - and that's all there is to it.  It just didn't click with the public, and let's pray the second single will be a smash!!

i get what you are saying shaun....but, i think the best thing they can do is bring ''an audience with celine'' programme forward to next weekend or the latest being the week after next, to coincide with the start of the outside promotion blitz in the uk, but i really can see this album being no.1 arond xmas, i really can

i think releasing another single so soon looks kinda desperate...so sony please bring forward this show in the uk pleaseeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

It is not wrong, the official chart has a gold symbol next to it, it must include shipped copies also but It is defo gold
