Kimber, you are more than welcome in the OLD FARTS thread!

You reminded me about ABC afterschool specials - serious subjects for young people.  About runaways, teen pregnancy and drinking.

AND Schoolhouse Rock - it was really a fun way to learn stuff! The preamble to the Constitution & conjunction-junction are the two I remember the best.

Remember when AM radio stations played music?  Long before satellite radio and FM... there was just AM radio playing all the music!

And some of those songs were really great and others were really bad... the absolute worst song IMHO was "Midnight at the Oasis"

This is a great thread.

I remember Zoom. I actually had one of the albums.
Hatchy Milatchy (sp?) with Miss Judy.  The Magic Garden with those 2 girls on the swings and the Chuckle Patch.  :sofunny:

Wow I'm surprised ANYONE remembers that PBS show. They all wore those striped rugby shirts with the huge collars. I remember actually going to see some of themwhen they went on tour. I got a few autographs. It was a big day for Stevethefan.  :msn-tongue:

I remember watching Mission Impossible, Mannix, Cannon and Ironsides...

But when I watched them it was all "first-run" episodes - with the standard summer repeats of course -

I love Anne of Green Gables, too!  It is my FAVORITE book!!
I was a MEAN momma - I made my kids read the book before they could watch the video.

OK... does anyone remember when TV shows had MEMORABLE theme songs?  Like Hawaii 5-0, Mission Impossible, Gilligan's Island, All in the Family, Sanford and Son, Good Times, The Jeffersons, or the Beverly Hillbillies!  :sofunny:

Remember Benny Hill?  I never watched that show but I know it was quite popular...

I watched the Avengers - not a "British" show but did star ... Patrick NcNee and Dame Diana Rigg as Mrs. Peel

Here are some for the children of the 80's!

You Know You Grew Up In the 80's if:

1. You ended a sentence with the word SIKE.

2. You can sing the rap to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and can do the Carlton

3. You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey on Blossom

4. If you ever watched "Fraggle Rock"

5. It was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons.

6. You wore a ponytail on the side of your head.

7. You got super-excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.

8. You made your mom buy one of those clips that would hold your shirt in a knot on the side.

9. You played the game "MASH"(Mansion, Apartment, Shelter, House)

10. You wore stonewashed Jordache jean jackets and were proud of it.

11. You know the profound meaning of " WAX ON , WAX OFF"

12. You wanted to be a Goonie.

13. You ever wore fluorescent clothing.

14. You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose fell off and his cheeks shifted.

15. You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.

16. You took lunch boxes to school...and traded Garbage Pailkids in the schoolyard.

17. You remember the CRAZE, then the BANNING of slap bracelets.

18. You still get the urge to say "NOT" after every sentence.

19. You thought your childhood friends would never leave because you exchanged handmade friendship bracelets.

21. You ever owned a pair of Jelly-Shoes.

22. After you saw Pee-Wee's Big Adventure you kept saying "I know you are, but what am I?"

23. You remember "I've fallen and I can't get up"

24. You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates.

25. You have ever played with a Skip-It.

26. You remember boom boxes and walking around with one on your shoulder like you were all that.

27. You remember watching both Gremlins movies.

28. You thought Doogie Howser/Samantha Micelli was hot.

29. You remember Alf, the lil furry brown alien from Melmac.

30. You remember New Kids on the Block when they were cool...and don't even flinch when people refer to them as "NKOTB"

31. You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell," The ORIGINAL class.

32. You know all the words to Bon Jovi - SHOT THROUGH THE HEART.

33. You just sang those words to yourself.

34. You still sing "We are the World"

35. You tight rolled your jeans.

36. You owned a bannana clip.

37. You remember "Where's the Beef?"

38. You used to (and probably still do) say "What you talkin' 'bout Willis?"

39. You're still singing shot through the heart in your head, aren't you! :sofunny:!

You know you grew up in the 70's if...

You wore a rainbow shirt that was half-sleeves, and the rainbow went
up one sleeve, across your chest, and down the other.

You made baby chocolate cakes in your Easy Bake Oven and washed them
down with snow cones from your Snoopy Snow Cone Machine.

You had that Fisher Price Doctor's Kit with a stethoscope that
actually worked.

You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a basket.

You even owned roller skates with metal wheels.

You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (Admit it!)

You had nightmares after watching Fantasy Island.

You had rubber boots for rainy/snowy days -remember Moon boots (you
then advanced to Duck Shoes in the 80's)

You had either a "bowl cut" or "pixie," not to mention the Dorothy
Hamill" because your Mom was sick of braiding your hair. How traumatic when people thought you were a boy.

Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession.

You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers.

You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon.

You had the Donnie and Marie dolls with those pink and purple shredded outfits.

You spent hours out back on your metal swing set with the trapeze.

You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color.

You even had a pair of Doctor Scholl's sandals (the ones with hard
sole & the buckle).

You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little
House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at
least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson!

You wanted your first kiss to be at the roller rink.

Your hairstyle was described as having "wings" and you kept it
"pretty" with the comb you kept in your back pocket.

You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.

You carried a Muppets lunch box to school.

You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of
Hazzard was your boyfriend.

Every now and then "It's a Hard Knock Life" from the movie,"Annie"
will pop into your brain and you can't stopsinging it the whole day.

YOU had Star Wars action figures, too.

It was a big event in your household each year when the "Wizard of Oz" would come on TV. Your mom would break out the popcorn and sleeping bags!

You even asked your Magic-8 ball the question: "Who will I marry.
Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or Rick Springfield?"

You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack albums.

You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and Popsicle-stick
God's eyes, or those weird potholders made on a plastic loom.

You made Shrinky-Dinks!

You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable
tape player up to the speaker.

You couldn't wait to get the free animal poster that came when you
ordered books from the Weekly Reader book club.

You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from Judy Blume books (Are you there God, It's me,Margaret.)

You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with heart
or rainbow designs

You had a Big Wheel with a brake on the side, and a Sit-n-Spin.

You had subscriptions to Dynamite and Tiger Beat!!

You may be a child of the 60's if you can remember...

The beginnings of the Brady Bunch

When Mr. Rogers first zipped up his sweater

When Dick Van Dyke entered our living rooms by tripping over the ottoman

Watching Sally Field fly around in a nun's habit in The Flying Nun

Banana seat bikes with the high tube in the back and upraised handle bars

Watching Peggy Fleming skate her way to a gold medal in 1968

Watching the Archies cartoon

Watching the Flintstones on their first run

Watching the Jetson's on their first run

Sound of Music

The Andy Griffith show

Gilligan's Island

The Beverly Hillbillies

This is sad... I'll CONFESS!!

You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a basket.  I LOVED THAT BIKE!!

You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little
House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at
least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson! - My dad called me Half-Pint!!

You had the Donnie and Marie dolls with those pink and purple shredded outfits. I even wore PURPLE SOCKS!!

YOU had Star Wars action figures, too. STILL HAVE THEM!!

You even asked your Magic-8 ball the question: "Who will I marry.
Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or Rick Springfield?" But look at him now!  :puke:

You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and Popsicle-stick
God's eyes, or those weird potholders made on a plastic loom.  STILL HAVE ONE OF THE POTHOLDERS!!

You had subscription to Tiger Beat!! AND STILL HAVE A COUPLE!?

AND EVERYTHING from the 60's!

I'm OLD!!!

I know what you mean, Brenda...

I had colorforms!

And remember the Weebles - they wobble but they don't fall down!

I had two banana seat bikes...

the first was purple and had a wicker basket with a flower on the basket.

the other was a yellow boys bike.

I had brown platform shoes and polyester bell-bottom pants that were light blue.

I had a "shag" haircut.

And remember when the Toni Tenille haircut was popular?

"Love, love will keep us together"

and the immortal "Muskrat Love"  :sofunny:

And we haven't even talked about the SUPERGROUP of the 70's - ABBA!

OMG! I had that Fischer Price doctors kit and do  you remember the "prescriptions" were candy! ^_^
