^ very true.
I was reading, that everyone has abs underneath their layer of belly fat. What determines if you SHOW your abs, is how much fat you have layered over your abs. So everyone has abs, no one else can see them if there's a lot of fat over your belly.

For guys, if you want your abs to show you have to have a percentage of 10% body fat or less.

For girls, if you want your abs to show you have to have a percentage of 15% body fat or less.

I did had some abs before but now, it looks like it's not obvious so i really have to work out more.

^ Don't over work your abs, that will only slow down the process! I was shocked to learn this. Work on your 3 different section of abs, focusing on one a day. Lower abs, upper abs and your Obliques, (on the side).

Yes everyone has abs, but burning all your belly fat alone will not give them definition. You must also do ab workouts to increase their size as well has burn off belly fat like you suggested.  :thumbsup2:

(I'm pretty sure you knew that, I'm just clarifying that for other members... :) )

Yes, volleyceline is 100% correct. Abs should only be worked 2-4 times per week (roughly every other day). Abs are such frustrating muscles to work.  ^_^


(I've always hated the quote, "abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym" mainly because I like fattening foods. :( I typically must do twice the amt. of cardio workouts in order to keep the balance of all the bad food I eat... LOL)

I made a promise to myself, that Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, after school til the last day of school I will go to the weight room and run for 10 minutes!! Then Mondays we have open gym, and Thursdays spring league! :dance:

Then there's the diet.... :disgust: :glare:

^^^ Well is it about to be summer time where you live?
My motivation is a nice body for summer time and bathing suits. If I were to not aim for that, I'd still be in shape, but not with the abs I've always dreamed of, which is what I want!!!

Or maybe you want to impress that special someone? The list goes on and on (like our hearts ;) )

Celine Dion has amazing legs, especially her calves. I recommend doing calf raises on either stairs or on a flat surface with weight applied. Do squats and lunges with weights. Even power-walking a few miles will tone your calves, quads, and hamstrings.

Get on the edge of a step, and lower and raise your heel, like this:

Do 3 sets of 10.

There's no way around it, running always builds muscle, even in your abdomen!

Don't overwork your calves, this will only slow the process of building muscles! I recommend doing these exercises no more than 3 times a week.

Don't be unrealistic though, you won't get results extremely fast, and they won't look like Celine's legs in less than a month! But keep working at it, and you will achieve it  :thumbsup2:

The same as any other part of the body. You want size - hit them hard once a week, weights are obligatory. You want definition - moderate intensity 3 times a week.

how? just put some weights attached on your feet? I think they're called sandbags or something. i  really don't know cos i don't have those.

:laugh: No, that's absolutely not it.  :-D
A barbell or dumbbells will do. Just grab them (use your HANDS) and do your squats, lunges and calf raises. There are plenty of exercise plans on the Internet. :)

All this exercise helps of course, but then there's also the gene factor, or your physics. I mean, not everyone can have legs like Céline's even if they did nothing but work out! :D Take me for example, in general I'm in a pretty good condition and I train a lot (BodyStep classes, running, spinning + gym) but I'm quite short (1.63 m) and I have reeaaally short legs and it's in my genes that they are also very "thick" (cause my mum also has thick legs, even though she on the other hand is tall), so I can never have those long and slim legs, no matter what I do (well unless I go to a surgery or something..). So, I just have to live with what I have. :D But, even though it would be nice to have those superb legs, the most important thing is however to have working legs, legs that I can walk and run with, after all that's their most important job! ;)

But of course, keep working out, cause that's always good and of course modifies the shape of your legs to some degree (and if you're lucky, even to those amazing Céline legs)!  :thumbsup2:

I think the best way to have bigger legs is to go to the gym and use ENOUGH weight in exercising them. I mean, legs are extremely strong, so you should use pretty heavy weights with them too, if you want to see results. And then there's also running and biking (or indoor cycling/spinning) and if you do those a lot (and I mean a LOT), it definitely builds up your muscles too, so weight lifting is not the only option. You could do different kinds of trainings, like some days run longer distances, some days shorter but faster, some days go find a hill and run it several times up and down etc., what ever you come up with. The point is to have some variety in the exercises, and to not always do the same exercises the same way. I don't know if this is any help, but just wanted to give my opinion about it! :) Good luck!
