I really doubt that she will release a new English album in March 2006. What about the rumors of a new christmas album? I think that is what we'll get. A new christmas album at the end of 2006 (which she can promote in the USA during her December break) and a new French album will be released at the end of her Vegas contract when she will have the next long break. That's what I think...

i think we r making a big deal about it while sony couldnt care less...just like her previous albums - sony would deciede one day that it's time to make some money from celine , they'll tell her she has 3 weeks to record an album maybe even less and they'll release it with no singles .from the moment they approve a new album , it would take less than 2 months to release it in the case of celine....so it 's still not too late for march , they'll announce it a week before the release to make sure noone would buy it . She signed with Universal and again another flop, "Charmbracelet". Now, once again with Universal, she is selling decently well (more than 6 million copies worldwide it's not a big deal!). But nothing special. And Mariah was named best-selling female artist of '90s when she was with Sony. So, you made a wrong comparison. Even if Céline changes record label, she won't sell just because she has changed label. You need a huge promotion, with one appearance on worldwide TV a week, like Mariah did (and although that, she flopped big time in Europe - only now "The Emancipation Of Mimi" has been certificated Platinum by IFPI thanks to the new edition package, "One Heart" was certificated Platinum by IFPI after 2 months and she never came to Europe to promote the album!). i know the history of mariah - the comparison wasnt wrong . even when mariah's albums flopped - it was due to her bad music , the record labels promoted her singles and she even had few hits during the years...

now she took some timeoff to release a good album MUSICLY and now she has good promotion too and she is selling alot...her latest album sold around 10 million copies and it's the biggest album of the year .

artists r not selling 20 million copies anymore , 10 million is huge .

I have learned one thing about Céline recently: Never underestimate her. She may be commercial but IF she really wants something, she will do it. Especially considering the HUGE positive feedback Rene got after her Gatineau concerts. Everyone asked her if she will release a jazz album after that.

mimi didn't sell 10 million for sure. and it's even not the best selling album in USA, and not even close in Euro, Asia... It is NOT the biggest album of the year. Mariah seems very successful this year because she has some hit singles, not because her album sell that well.

The music market is changing. No one is staying listening to the same music now. It isn't Celine's fault. She is doing what she loves and is recording just what she always recorded. I don't care about sales. It's Celine and her music that should matter to the fans.

It's not about sales. Céline has never been about singles. Mariah always ruled the charts - I mean where were you all when Mariah scored her 15 no.1 hits in the US? How many did Céline have? 4 is not really much and they are only cuz of the hype surrounding her at that time.

At the end of the day the singer who can pull off her songs live wins. Céline can do that blindfold. :innocent:

OH, with the kind of promotion it had, was a huge success worldwide.

back to the topic(actually it has everything to do with the topic) - i want celine to release her next english album after the vegas deal so she would be able to promote it herself . we all know she cant count on sony .

even FIY and LTAL - 2 of the biggest selling albums in the history of music , went to sell so many copies not thanks to sony but thanks to the fact that celine was everywhere...she did all the work...sony were always lazy .

Back to talking about a possible new release; im in two minds really. On one hand, i can't wait for Celine to give us new material. But on the other hand, i would prefer if she finished her term at Vegas and devoted all of her time to the new album, and toured and promoted properly again. Don't leave it to Sony; at least if you do something yourself, you know it is getting done right!
