Concert residency in Paris 2026/2027! *Spoilers*

Thanks God I´m not a vocal expert and I can enjoy her without thinking if she is off-key, or if she uses chest or head voice or hits F, D, C or whatever note. And luckily the majority of her fans are the same. The faces I saw around me on Friday only showed emotion, love and admiration, not technical scrutiny.

They should release this show in Blu-ray at the end of the year, then release the new album in March 2027,then a completely new show in May,now that's a full comeback!

Towards the end of the 2016 summer tour she started to sound quite raspy, like how she demonstrated in the I am docu. Then it got worse when she returned in vegas in September, it sounded uncontrollable. She started lipping more (ABM, TSMGO...). Then in early 2017 she seemed to have found a way to get rid of the rasp but was more nasal with that "tongue at the back" sound idk how to describe it.

I think it's just "modern" problems. Lots of companies do this in a more or less automated way now. For example in France, if you post any content from French television networks on sites like YouTube, it gets blocked before even posting because they have some kind of aggressive copyrighted content scan in place. It's not that some person is going through these and choosing to take them down. I think it's just part of the media landscape now unfortunately.

Edit: That said, I think that this makes it more important than ever that we preserve and save and share with each other as much of the current stuff as possible so it doesn't get "lost" over time. It would be great if we can find a more private internal way to circulate these files amongst ourselves, even if only for there to be redundant copies out there. It's unlikely that we will be able to post these things openly like in the past, but we do need to preserve them. It would be great if we could get the forum downloads/media sharing section up and running again for this. Otherwise, maybe we can use private cloud sharing or things like WeTransfer/SwissTransfer (or similar) or something to circulate files while waiting for a better solution.

Edit 2: If people go to the shows, if you happen to have a second telephone to record the audio of the whole show, that would be so so great. (I just use the native voice notes app and then at home I adjust the bass levels a little to compensate for the arena acoustics. But you can send me your raw files and I can edit them for example.) I wanted to collect audio bootlegs from each show, but I only have shows 1 and 2 for the time being. (Does anyone have audio from shows 3 or 4?) Think of how happy we are to have any full record of past shows from long ago... 10 years from now, we'll be grateful for any little crumb of these days that remains, so let's try to do this as best as possible for future us! 😅

Take it with a pinch of salt, but I read on Twitter it is so Celine can dub the show if she is not happy with the vocals, or have them edit out flat notes etc. And there would be no fan footage to compare it to. How anyone would even know this is beyond me, so bear that in mind. I think its just speculation.

I suppose technically there is a precedence for this, as the 2013 Une Seule fois show had various notes corrected or changed when compared to the fan recordings and she did go into the studio to dub the lipped songs on the TCWT release.

But they didn't aggressively remove any of that footage and there was tons of TC tour footage available, they are really on top of it this time around.

Then I guess you simply don’t want to understand what I’m saying. I think I’ve been nuanced enough and have argued my point clearly enough, always keeping in mind the distinction between appreciating the bigger picture and what it represents, and being objective about specific facts.

What I mean is: yes, this comeback is historic. The show is stunningly beautiful, and her resilience, her fight and the amount of work she has put into this are incredible. Seen through that lens and within that narrative, her voice says something far more important than whether she is perfectly on pitch or what her technical abilities are today. That is what people are coming to celebrate. And beyond that, the vocal result remains quite impressive considering everything she has been fighting against.

Now, looking at it purely and objectively, yes, there are significant pitch issues and her voice is very altered — including compared with the pre-Covid period.

We should be able to understand both perspectives and appreciate both at the same time.

If they were so strict about detecting playback, they would have banned IA/TPOL from Saudi Arabia and they haven't.

 

Now what Els says makes much more sense and maybe it's because of some French law and if it was in a different country it would be different. Look at Shakira. She uses playback too and yet all her concerts are still on youtube so clearly nobody cares about the playback being uncovered.

Plus Celine's team is too lazy to do it. Not to mention (what I have already said) AEG has been sharing a lot of video snippets after each show on their socials (just not on youtube) so they clearly don't care about it either

Guys, I have to say this. While the points raised earlier about some notes being off-key are valid, we also need to understand the context of the situation. These are their first concerts after a six-year hiatus, complicated by an autoimmune illness, and bouncing back from that overnight isn't easy.
As for why the YouTube recordings are being taken down: my understanding is that all the concerts are being filmed (there’s actually an announcement before the show starts, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong). They’re likely removing the videos to preserve the "element of surprise" for the eventual release of the edited concert footage later this year (or so I assume)... it’s like if someone had uploaded footage of the Stade de France concert back in the 90s before the official version was released.

Seeing Mariah perform these days just makes me sad. Growing up in the 90s was a great time to witness Celine, Mariah, Whitney, etc in their primes. The fandoms haven't always gotten along but I wish health and happiness for all the great artists of that era.
