Davar Posted December 24, 2025 at 03:07 PM Posted December 24, 2025 at 03:07 PM I’ve loved Céline for most of my life, and I’ve never taken criticism of her lightly. This isn’t from a place of hate, but lately her appearances and projects feel more about spending as little as possible while gaining as much as she can. She has the resources to hire a strong social media team and remind the world of who Céline is and was, yet she puts out very little. I know she’s going through a lot, but if anything, that makes it even more important to protect her legacy and share her work—yet it seems she’s doing the minimum for maximum gain. Maybe she’s working on another show—but even that feels less about her fans and more about profit. I feel uncomfortable admitting this, given what she’s dealing with, but my opinion is starting to change. It increasingly feels like money is her main motivation—whether recently or perhaps always. Looking back, she rarely seems to fully commit to anything outside of ventures like perfumes, bags, cars, and airlines. Someone brought this up the other day, and it really stuck with me. The less money she makes, the less she seems willing to invest—especially if it requires spending her own money. I know she doesn’t owe us anything, but it makes me wonder: how can you truly care about fans if you only show up occasionally to showcase a project that benefits you? 2 Quote
Shamrock_1982 Posted December 30, 2025 at 06:51 PM Posted December 30, 2025 at 06:51 PM It is how it looks for now I agree… But is she doing what she can to slowly come back from a health and business point of view… because she was tied into this messy contract until a certain date in 2026 like others have mentioned… If we get no announcements in the first half of 2026 regarding a show/shows then something has definitely changed whether health related or a change of heart on her behalf. But as frustrating as it’s been after teasing last year that she’d be back, I still have yet to give up hope Quote

Davar Posted December 30, 2025 at 07:30 PM Author Posted December 30, 2025 at 07:30 PM What still isn’t clear to me is whether she’s in this purely for the money. If that weren’t the case, I think there would be a lot more substance to what she’s doing lately. While some celebrities can be frustrating, most still take pride in what they’ve built and actively invest in their legacy. If her stepping back is SPS-related, I completely understand that-but it doesn’t explain why she wouldn’t continue investing in the work she’s already put so much effort into. And if the reason is contractual, I still don’t see how that would stop her from protecting or growing her legacy. Taken together, it starts to feel like the projects she chooses are motivated more by financial return than by genuine interest, passion or love for her fans. Quote
Davar Posted December 30, 2025 at 07:43 PM Author Posted December 30, 2025 at 07:43 PM I also want to apologize for implying that the forum picks and chooses topics-I was reacting to seeing my post marked as needing approval and then never seeing it appear. Céline is genuinely part of who I am, and any criticism I share comes from that place and stays entirely within this forum. It’s never meant to diminish her or extend beyond this space. 1 Quote
PuraVida Posted December 30, 2025 at 07:46 PM Posted December 30, 2025 at 07:46 PM I think her crap social media team and poor legacy maintenance is more about her entourage's incompetence and Celine's being too aloof/distant from the management side of things. That was always true, but obviously now she has bigger things to worry about: her health and SPS. Sony Music are probably the ones who are too stingy and don't want to invest in her. Although Celine is too aloof to press them on it. And her team is useless. 1 Quote

She only performed at the Expo ’92 in Seville, and that’s it. I’m talking about 1992. It’s also true that if there were a legal restriction preventing her from releasing anything, that might be a mistaken assumption. Let’s wait and see what happens. Davar Posted December 30, 2025 at 08:03 PM Author Posted December 30, 2025 at 08:03 PM This is exactly what I mean about her needing to invest in her own legacy. I wouldn’t just sit back and let the label do whatever it wanted-which, so far, is absolutely nothing. I’m sure she has some say, but it doesn’t seem like she’s ever cared enough. That made sense when she was actively performing, but now nothing seems to be happening, so why let the label do nothing too? They aren’t financially benefiting from her at the moment, so I don’t necessarily blame them. Putting SPS aside, isn’t it possible for her to actively manage her own legacy? Quote

Squall Posted December 30, 2025 at 08:17 PM Posted December 30, 2025 at 08:17 PM (edited) I think Celine is stuck in pre-social media times. I don't think she, or her team, has ever understood social media and how to utilize it. After the documentary, that would have been a great time to have Celine posting more intimate messages to her fans to let us know how she's doing. She gets to choose what she wants us to see. But messages from her that don't sound scripted would be nice. All of the messages she posts to her socials sound like they were written by ChatGPT. I wish she'd get rid of that. Get rid of the studio lights. Don't bother with the hair and makeup. Just talk from the heart. In her Grinch video, she mentions "exercise my voice." I have a feeling that is something she is actually doing. If she is, I'd love to see that. I think we all would. If she's working with a voice coach, let us in on some of those sessions. Even if her voice isn't fully back, I think it would be encouraging to those out there with SPS. Edited December 30, 2025 at 08:21 PM by Squall 2 Quote

She was supposed to do a concert in Spain in 1999 but it was cancelled because of Rene’s illness. Also i don’t think she “hardly ever tested how her music would be received in Spain”, if that’s the case, she wouldn’t record a song in Spanish and released it as a single there. Also she released Just Walk Away as a single exclusively in Spain in 1995 which i think it was a strategy to test how her music would be received there. emiliejolie Posted December 31, 2025 at 12:34 PM Posted December 31, 2025 at 12:34 PM (edited) I join most of you regarding Céline and her social média. Of course we don’t know anything and it is all about suppositions. I guess Celine appreciates her life right now and does not look towards a comeback. There is a big gap between exercice her voice and recording an album or performing on stage. I will be more critical about the recent messages we’ve got. All the videos we’ve got were all recorded in a row. Does she not have 10 minutes in her agenda to record something new or different ? At least she could have change clothes to give the impression it is a “new” message. Even for a short video she does not give a s… I have heard that Maman Dion Fondation closed today. A fondation naturally runs with money . Celine might feel in need not to pursue the legacy of her beloved mom or raises funds for it. The feeling I experience at the time is really weird, to me though. It’s like when you are in a relationship for years/ decades and one morning you wake up and realise that you don’t love your partner anymore. You love him/her in a sense, since you used to love the person he/she used to be but you don’t love the person he/she has become. And though it is the same person. That is exactly what I do experience with Celine now. I réalize I love the Celine she used to be, but not the women she is today. Weird because it is the same person but still love has gone. I think we would appreciate a clear situation. We don’t know her projects and are given crumbs like starving birds. It would be ok if she would say she retires. And if she still want to comeback I don’t want her to make a farewell tour after 10 years of silence like most of superstars that try to recreate a success that becomes to the past. Meanwhile I go on listening to music and videos of the fresh, spontaneous and talented young Celine I used to love Edited December 31, 2025 at 12:41 PM by emiliejolie 3 Quote

I’m beginning to think that the Celine who knew and loved was merely a person/ artist that Rene helped her to project. I think Rene coached her well on how to be and she followed his direction as the manager. I don’t know if the Celine we see now is the true Celine or simply a Celine who is still in mourning and doesn’t know how to cope with it. I’d say it was maybe the very serous diagnosis she received but I think Celine has been different before this diagnosis. I’m not a doctor, but I think she never truly healed after Rene died and then her mom and then receiving a heart breaking diagnosis shortly after. 2 Quote
Shamrock_1982 Posted December 31, 2025 at 03:53 PM Posted December 31, 2025 at 03:53 PM I get she still misses him ofcourse she does but time is a healer and don’t she say in an interview that she began to mourn him in the later stages while he was still alive. She has new management and to many of us they are either no good or doing nothing, but to be employed by her there must surely be a plan to unveil at some point whether it’s live shows or unreleased content. I just hope 2026 we all turn a corner and get something unlike this year. Happy New Year to you all! Quote
Squall Posted December 31, 2025 at 04:13 PM Posted December 31, 2025 at 04:13 PM I think what makes things especially sour for fans is when we see her at concerts, dancing like nothing is wrong. In that sense, if she is able to go to concerts and move her body like she did before her diagnosis, can we maybe get a message from her to fill us in on stuff? For the longest time, we had to battle people online who were spreading rumors that she was dead. We stuck up for her. We stuck up for her when people would say God was punishing her with SPS because she created a demon clothing line. Can we not get a message from her that wasn't written by ChatGPT? 1 Quote
Davar Posted December 31, 2025 at 04:42 PM Author Posted December 31, 2025 at 04:42 PM (edited) I actually enjoy seeing her out and about-it shows she isn’t stuck at home in pain or struggling. What frustrates me, though, is the apparent lack of appreciation or consideration for her fans, despite what she says. If she truly valued her fans, I feel she’d offer a little more, even if just as a gesture of appreciation, like unseen footage or unreleased material. Of course, she owes us nothing, but she enjoys all her success because of her fans. It feels unfair when fans are only included when there’s money to be made. Don’t promote a documentary and talk about working hard to get better, then disappear, only to reappear when it’s time to promote another product. That just doesn’t feel fair to us fans. Squall Posted December 31, 2025 at 07:00 PM Posted December 31, 2025 at 07:00 PM To be clear, every time I see her at a concert or dancing, I am genuinely thrilled. I couldn’t be happier to see her doing well and still able to enjoy life, even knowing she continues to have difficult days. That joy is real, and it means a lot to see.I just wish that, on the days when she is feeling good, she would take a moment to record a short message for us — one that comes directly from her, not something written by someone else. In the documentary, she talks about being an apple tree and worrying that she may not have any apples left to give. At the premiere, someone said to her, “We’re here for the tree.” She must know how deeply she means to her fans. That’s why being cut off the way we have been feels out of character. I’ve always believed that Céline truly loves her fans. But as time goes on, it does start to feel a little like we’re being neglected — and that’s a difficult feeling to reconcile with the connection she’s always shared with us. 2 Quote
Állex Sodi Posted December 31, 2025 at 07:13 PM Posted December 31, 2025 at 07:13 PM I have a different theory that probably won’t sit well with most fans here. Like Celine, I’m going to use AI, but I’ve limited my answer to academic research: “A 38-year-old meeting a 12-year-old and becoming her “mentor” while taking over major responsibilities in her life can create a strong dependency and power imbalance—something grooming tactics often aim for. If he was shaping her life/career in a way that isolated her from age-appropriate supports, encouraged secrecy, or positioned himself as the only person who “understands” or can “make her a star,” that aligns with commonly described grooming dynamics (dependency, isolation, power/control). The younger the child at first contact and the more total the adult’s control over career, money, housing, or daily decisions, the more the situation resembles grooming rather than a healthy mentor relationship. When someone’s autonomy and agency have been restricted over time (a common effect of coercive control), the death of the controlling partner can leave the survivor without the skills, confidence, or social scaffolding needed to self-direct life.” Maybe, just maybe, she isn’t a cash cow, but someone who is putting her life in the hands of others, because that’s the only thing she was taught to do. A lot of you run from that perspective, but if it barks like a dog and walks like a dog… it might just be a dog. It explains everything. 4 Quote

A lot of you run from that perspective, but if it barks like a dog and walks like a dog… it might just be a dog. It explains everything. That is one way to see things, I do not. I believe Rene all along was teaching her how to manage things, maybe not negotiating contracts and things but that is what a manager is for. That is not to say she doesn't still miss him and the fact it was so much easier letting him handle things. I believe she would just rather focus on performing and nothing else. That does not mean she is not capable of handling her career, I just believe she does not want too. In many interviews as the years went on you could see she took more and more control, but allowed Rene to deal with the business (he was her manager) not because she was not able too. She wanted to focus on the kids and performing. She has also constantly said she does not look back and wants to focus on the future and focus on one thing at a time. Why I think she never pursued song writing. So I can see her not really wanting to deal with putting what she feels is old material out. It also might feel to her that she is giving up on performing again if starts to focus on her old work. We honestly do not know physiologically how she is dealing with SPS and the possibility of never being able to perform the way she wants. Everything is just speculation. For me it comes down to she does not like or care to deal with things like releasing old material and is instead focusing on getting better and back on stage. As well as being a mother. Even if she knows we are there for the tree she is a perfectionist and if feels not ready to give apples then I can see her staying quiet except for the few messages she records. In regards to being just a cash cow now. She has given tremendously with time and money over the years. Now that she is older and dealing with SPS I feel she is focusing on herself and being a mother. All artists are making money from their product. Yes it would be nice if she would get her team to release old material but as I stated above I feel she is focusing on the future and not what for her is the past. And maybe even focusing on old material as I said feels like giving up on performing again and that her career is over. Now I agree she does need to get new management that will work on releasing old material and keeping her legacy alive. I do not believe for a minute she was so isolated or dependent that she is now incapable of finding the right kind of manager. Why she has not done this could be as simple as wanting to focus on the future and being able to perform live again so everything else is secondary to her. 1 Quote 'I am, in life and death, the woman of only one man.' I wonder what Celine’s paycheck was for I am. I guarantee for her showing up to promote it it was hearty I’ve been telling everyone that we are just a $ bag to them, once there’s nothing to sell (apples) then then the (tree) doesn’t care to even try to produce a apple or two for the hungry. It was evident with the “I am Celine Dion” documentary soundtrack… they couldn’t even give us a song from the vault, or even a damn remix to one of the songs on it. I refused to buy that apple. It’s had to just unplug as a fan especially because we know she has an illness but this still feels very transactional only, and that was fine at first because the in the past the tree has a few apples away every now and again and sold them as well, it was a win/win for both parties. What a shame this career ended up being. And it’s not because of her SPS, again there’s so much they could do without ever stepping foot on a stage again, they choose not to. 1 Quote
KyleVan41 Posted January 1, 2026 at 10:52 PM Posted January 1, 2026 at 10:52 PM That’s just it. Her career end is now a tragedy and it’s not the SPS. Not even close 1 Quote
Nmj Posted January 1, 2026 at 11:02 PM Posted January 1, 2026 at 11:02 PM That’s just it. Her career end is now a tragedy and it’s not the SPS. Not even close I do tend to this of this quote from Celine on opening night back onstage after Rene passed away…. “I understood that my career was in a way his masterpiece, his song, his symphony. The idea of leaving it unfinished would have hurt him terribly. I realized that if he ever left us, I would have to continue without him, for him.” Céline Dion And it’s a shame that even if Celine be onstage that the rest is handled so poorly. Illness aside, the legacy is taking a hit. 1 Quote
