blacktooth Posted January 17, 2026 at 12:10 AM Posted January 17, 2026 at 12:10 AM I know a lot of people don't seem that interested in the graphics section or this AI topic so this discussion might not get much traction, but I would still love to know people's opinions on the use of AI in graphics and where you personally draw the line in editing pictures of Celine. Especially now the latest models are able to produce incredible results and this will only get better in the coming years. If I present 3 images below. The top image is the original image found on the forum in low quality, the second one is AI enhanced to be as close and accurate to the original as possible, the third image is an AI edit to remove the background. Which of the images are you OK with, if any?Do you think taking an old and blurry photo and making it look crisp and new is OK, providing it has absolutely NO changes and appears just the same as the original but it better quality?Do you think changing certain parts of it is OK if it makes the image nicer to view, such as fixing creases and rips, removing text from old magazine covers, restoring it accurately? The kind of thing Photoshop has been doing for decades anyway, just automatically via AI.Do you think it's OK to go nuts and change outfits for fun, make up new backgrounds, change her hair, create new scenes?Or do you think the image should be kept 100% as it was, even if the quality and resolution is very poor?I would love to know what people think and why! Recently I have received some backlash on my part. I appreciate the feedback. While AI was part of the process, I spent a lot of time refining the concept and editing the final result to get it exactly where I wanted it. I see it as a collaboration between my vision and the technology. Every time a new technology hits the art world—from cameras to Photoshop—there’s a lot of pushback. I see AI as the next step in that evolution. It’s not meant to replace traditional art, but to offer a different way to create and edit right? I know AI art isn't for everyone, and that's okay! I'm personally enjoying the creative possibilities it opens up. 1 Quote
blacktooth Posted January 17, 2026 at 06:23 AM Posted January 17, 2026 at 06:23 AM I tried my luck with several prompts on Nano Banana to get the best possible results, but it’s been a bit of a mixed bag. The realism is mind-blowing—especially that skin texture—but there just aren't enough 'wins' in the batch to call it a total success yet. Quote
Thomas Posted January 17, 2026 at 10:40 AM Author Posted January 17, 2026 at 10:40 AM Thanks for your opinion, it's very interesting to read. Indeed I was thinking about your graphics when I was writing the post, because I know you enjoy the process very much, but I did not know if you incorporated AI into your work or if you preferred to do it manually. I think a mix of traditional and AI is a great combination, because let's be honest, it can quickly do tedious work that would take hours in photoshop. And then the details can be fixed by hand and refined. Yes it is not perfect for sure, some of the generations are nowhere near what I was hoping for and it might take many tries. But the advancement in just 1 or 2 year has been staggering. I think the next versions will be even better. 1 Quote

While it’s true that AI can handle the "grunt work" in seconds, there is a specific reason why I don't rely on it exclusively. Oftentimes, AI simply can’t process a concept exactly the way we’ve imagined it. It might understand the "what" (a tree, a car, a sunset), but it often misses the "how" or the specific emotional nuance of a vision. When the AI output falls short of the concept I have in my head, I step in manually to refine the compositions that AI gets "mostly" right but lacks the final polish, or add the specific details that make the work feel unique rather than "generated."For me, the best results still come from that partnership between human imagination and machine efficiency hehehe and I’m excited to see how the next versions handle more complex conceptual thinking! I always forget this topic exists! Saw on X a couple of your pictures so that made me comeback! I love that we are now able to take old blurry pictures and make them crisp, new and in better quality. Do think I still prefer the old ones because it has a nostalgic, vintage feeling to it.I follow an account on instagram who is doing that with old MJ pictures, very cool to see. The ones you created from ANDHC and LTAL are stunning!! Amazed by how realistic they look. I think I prefer those kind of pictures because you keep it realistic, it could easily been outtakes from the shoot. Also seen some 'shoots' Celine with other singers etc, but knowing those are completely made up, it's not for me. Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-F721B met Tapatalk Quote
Thomas Posted January 19, 2026 at 10:48 PM Author Posted January 19, 2026 at 10:48 PM Here are some "outtakes" from the Alix Malka shoot. But the good thing is, these are real, actual poses Celine did during the shoot, they are not made up! I upscaled screenshots from the making of videos on YouTube. So we kind of get real photos, but with the help of AI. 1 Quote

I hope future AI updates prioritize realistic hair rendering too just as much as skin texture. Quote
Thomas Posted January 20, 2026 at 09:24 AM Author Posted January 20, 2026 at 09:24 AM Yeah sometimes the hair is so bad! I was looking at some AI examples from just 2023 and they are awful, not even close. So I can't wait for the next versions, they will be amazing. 1 Quote
Thomas Posted January 20, 2026 at 09:35 PM Author Posted January 20, 2026 at 09:35 PM What a coincidence because I was looking at that photoshoot today as well. Such a shame there weren't more images released, there must be so many amazing shots. Occasionally, Andre Rau will upload photos to his Facebook and he does exhibitions but I've never seen anything new, he only posts the familiar shots. Maybe one day he will share unseen ones. I tried to upscale screenshots from the All The Way behind the scenes on YouTube, so in a way we can get more HQ images that we never saw before, especially the white top shoot. The video is very low resolution unfortunately but it's worked pretty well. So this is at least better than nothing! 3 Quote

Thomas Posted January 22, 2026 at 06:37 PM Author Posted January 22, 2026 at 06:37 PM Nice! Is it Nano Banana but then edited? I can see the difference, it's not as course as usual. I wish we could do very fine hair. Quote
Thomas Posted January 22, 2026 at 06:52 PM Author Posted January 22, 2026 at 06:52 PM I made some from the Sensational and Signature perfume photoshoots as requested by Fab. I don't know if AI can upscale video as good as this yet, all the upscales I see on YouTube are pretty bad. But I haven't looked into it really. This Sensational video quality was so awful, I wish we had them in better quality to start with, I think the results would be better. 3 Quote

Thomas Posted January 23, 2026 at 09:18 AM Author Posted January 23, 2026 at 09:18 AM UpscaledCould be a handy technique for improved hair. When I was trying Grok AI, it was producing some really nice hair textures. But it's only low resolution output. It might need a combination of Nano Banana + upscaled Grok hair to make the best image. Quote
