I was at a gay club tonight and there was a drag queen show. When the performer said they wanted to sing a Celine Dion song and asked the audience whether anyone liked her nobody raised their hands. So awkward! I was in another room but heard everything and could tell nobody showed an interest. My friends who were watching the show confirmed that. Let's face it guys! The 30 people still posting in this forum are her only fans left! 😝🤣 So congrats on being the last remaining survivors!😆

Gays might not say they're fans of Celine but wait until everyone's a little drunk and a Celine comes on and just watch what happens. Same goes for Disney. Nobody wants to admit to being a "Disney gay" or a "Celine gay" but we all are at least a little bit. 😂

I’m pretty much “all by myself” among my gay friends. Overall, they just don’t get it. They love Janet, Beyoncé, Gaga, etc.

 

I have a few musical theater friends who like Celine. They tend to love more vocal divas like Kelly Clarkson.

 

And many of my female friends loved Celine growing up. Or they’ve always thought Celine was for their mom’s generation.

What? I am hearing her songs almost everytime in clubs or locals and people's reactions, especially teenagers, are good.

 

I was at world pride this year and heard 2 different dj playing ashes and the other flying on my own… but never full songs

Well it looks like we have an exciting couple of weeks ahead! Can’t wait to see the movie and hear the new songs!

 

With everything that has happened over the past few years, it’s nice Celine has this in her back pocket to continue her career whist she is away.

I just realised something! We keep talking about streaming numbers, the box office, promotion, and we have not addressed an important question - how many copies will this soundtrack album sell worldwide?

 

Considering that Courage pulled around 700k worldwide, I would be happy with 500k. I am really hoping Canada, France and UK will support Celine.

Anyone looking forward to the film scores too? I’m wondering if they will be parts of Celine songs interwoven which could be interesting. May bring some freshness to the older songs.

 

I really hope the old songs are reworked a little.

 

If the older songs are changed, would they be classed as the same song for streaming numbers?

I just checked my iTunes and I see that all the songs are "Pre-Ordered" EXCEPT for ABM, WDMHBN, ANDHC, and TTWII and they are marked as "Purchased". The two classics that are still marked "Pre-Ordered" are Courage and IACBTMN. Are we getting retooled versions of those songs?

Am I the only one who does not like the idea of keeping the original 1990 WDMHBN version in the soundtrack? It sounds incredibly dated, the epitome of late 80s soft rock ballad. Why not change it to bring it closer to 2023 and that way maybe introduce it to a newer audience? I think this song is incredible, do not get me wrong, and I love how it found its place in this release. However, a more modern version would add to the album's coherence.

might be something to do with the age of the song and the tech/instruments used to create it? courage was put together in a newish studio using modern techniques. wdmhbn is so much older, it may have been lots of work and really hard to bring it to 2023. it would sound so different. I could also be way off the mark here.

Since this album is in Dolby Atmos. I’m curious to hear the two songs will sound like. Because “That’s The Way It Is” & “Where Does My Heart Beat Now” are not yet released in Dolby Atmos.

 

I hope they remastered it well for Dolby Atmos and not forced.

They might also be clever and include footage from the actual Courage tour from 2019. I think that is what they will do, since otherwise they would have to shoot a performance only for the movie, and that would be too much hassle considering that she was green screened into the movie and didn't even meet the main actors.

Yes, that was reported since this film was announced years ago. Dave Platel and Denis Savage are as well (at least according to IMDB).

But as we discussed at the time, EP is often a “honorific”/ negotiated credit. Good for her nonetheless though! More of that, please (see: Mariah producing Some Like It Hot, and now being a multiple Tony-nominee as a result.)
