I'm sorry and I haven't watched the documentary so I'm sure it's emotional in the context of the documentary, but I absolutely do not like that Wynn Stark song in any way shape or form. Like even their voice is terrible. I listened to a couple other songs of theirs as well and I was wondering how they got a record deal.

The necklace of Maria Callas Céline mentions in the movie (for me as an admirer of Callas myself certainly ONE of the most moving moments of the documentary), was sold at an auction of Sotheby's on December 12, 2007 in Milano, Italy. So René would have bought it there.

When I saw it at the screening, I remember I saw that Costco size bag of Ruffles in her kitchen and just got hungry staring at it. Now I’m watching it again, she got pop tarts, Nutella, Fritos. She’s got everything I can’t/not eating right now 😂😂

 

In all seriousness though, I hope everyone who’s watching it for the first time is enjoying the doc and seeing her at her most unguarded. It’s touching and beautiful to watch even on second viewing.

Yes!!!! Actually that was my dream growing up as a kid in the 90s/00s to have a setup like that. I saw a pic of that in a magazine as was like, I need a “computer pod.” Now I know it’s a gaming pod but that was so cool and futuristic for me at the time!

 

And all scenes with Bear make my heart warm up. She was such a beautiful cute chunky lab! Love her devotion to Céline. The Sharpie drawer is playing into my office supply fantasies. Who doesn’t want a drawer with Sharpies, Expo Markers and Cleaner. As a UX Designer, that’s literally what an ideal whiteboarding session looks like for me haha

That’s exactly what I’m wondering now… we have been waiting for this for so long jt feels kind and now that it’s here, who knows. It’s kind of like back to square one waiting like we did after her diagnosis video she posted. Hopefully she will keep us updated between now and when she can go back on stage.

I would say it's less of old footage. Around 30-40 % - at least that's how I felt it after watching it for the first time in full.

I just finished watching

 

The first part where she was showing her fragile voice that got me. We already seen this part through the interview with Hoda. But that made me cry! I did not expect that. Because I did not cry when I saw that. I just feel sad that she feels that way but when you see the whole thing. It hits you!

 

There are scenes that will really make you laugh. I did then it switches back to emotional scenes again. You laugh. You cry then laugh again then cry. Btw, that shoes scene is so funny lol

 

The session with recording the song “Love Again” is hard to watch seeing her trying and trying to perfect the song. I see her attitude of never giving up even though it’s hard for her. I kinda like when the sound guy showed the takes of their session of that. Even though it’s not perfect vocally. For me, i felt it more with that fragile voice. That soft sounding voice with the reverb. It sounded really good to me. Like the emotion fits to the song with that kind of voice.

 

Btw, why they keep on removing the reverb when they released it. They want her voice to keep dry. Anyways.

 

And then the last scene. The spasm scene. That scene where it started first at her feet then it locks that way. I feel so uncomfortable because watching it i felt like I’m feeling it. IThen, when her whole body stiffened and Celine was looking blankly then she moaned so loud because of the pain. Suddenly, I can’t stop crying. I love it that her team were there saying to her “We Got You Boss”. I was so happy for a moment hearing those words. I’m happy that they take good care of her.

 

Then, fast forward to when her muscles are now relaxing. She lied down properly.

 

I wanted to say it to Celine during that part that “We’re still here for you. You got us a great number of songs that may help many people lighten up the mood in their difficult times. When I feel down, angry or sad. I just listen to her song mostly french. Then, a couple of minutes of listening I’m ok I’m smiling again

 

Now, that is my drug. Her songs.

 

So, at the end of the docu, i wasn’t expecting that never before seen performance of that song. I think it’s just a rehearsal. But great to see that.

 

After the docu, I listened to “Love Again”, twice! As I typing this. Yeah! That other fan in this forum said it right. Listening to this song again after watching the docu will never be the same again.

 

To those who haven’t seen the docu yet. It’s better to not prepare or expect anything just watch it. No distractions! And prepare for tissues. Because you will definitely cry!

Really? I saw it 3 times in cinema and they had subtitles each time.

 

Yep no subtitles in the cinema when I saw it. OK for me, I speak some French but my friend who I was with didn't understand any of it.

OMG! I've watched the documentary on Amazon Prime. I cried so much. This woman is incredible, one of a kind. And that disease is just horrible, so much suffering.

Guys, I don't know how to make a review as I am not into technicalities. But I soooo looved the documentary. It's genuine, raw and powerful. It actually shows Celine as a person first, a mother second, and an entertainer third.

 

Too many highlights to mention. And that scene towards the end was a dagger in the heart. I was literally crying and wanted to unsee that particular part.

I think in many ways why the John Farnham bit was included, even though many thought was unnecessary, is that Irene wanted to show how Céline isn’t above being humble and idolizing someone that could be a peer of hers. Now, if it was Whitney, the scene would be even more poignant given her history and love of her as an artist. However, recording this for John’s doc might have been an opportunity to show that side of Céline thats humble enough to be a fan. When she talks about wanting a rocker voice, you see her like everyone else, who perceives themselves of not having enough and wishing that they had something someone else has. You could argue that the way René managed her career, he moved away from pushing her into the rock realm and maybe took away that opportunity to be that type of singer, but we never get that perspective. Irene only shows us Célines perspective as it is, without over-analysis. So in that sense, I think it was important that the clip stayed in the film. I just think that because his fame isn’t as big as Céline’s his impact isn’t thought of in the same way, of someone like a Whitney, like I mentioned.

Yes, in that sense I’m glad this doc turned out (by necessity) to be something other than what was originally envisioned.
