Rolling stone seems to have a love/hate relationship with Celine, I don’t quite understand their approach with anything Celine related.

I hope Celine has really adopted this "my needs come first" attitude...because her answers in these interviews kind of gave me the impression that now that she has her diagnosis and knows what was going on with her, she's ready to hop back on the treadmill of old ways.

 

Obviously she will take new precautions and "be smart" about her approach, but it still kind of feels like she has the mindset that there are needy, hungry fans out there for whom she has to perform, provide, and please.

Is the music in the doc set as backdrop at times or more so, flashback montages? I hope it’s not random and the songs they choose make sense.

Is this company in charge of the content strategy of her social media now ?

As they brand themselves as providing such services as a Talent management firm: "We drive culture relevance and engagement for talent, brands and content creators".

 

Not sure of their scope exactly but, they were just listed as her PR representatives a few weeks before this documentary started its promotional campaign. They've been posting about Céline for the past few weeks. Heres a few of their more recent posts.

At the end of the day, Good PR is creating a story that resonates within multiple channels and gets people talking. Obviously, there was work to craft the direction of what Céline says exactly since the overall structure of the questions and the overall core of her answers are identical, though unique, to each outlet. They may be taking an active role and treating this as a PR Campaign and working with Amazon, broadcast networks, etc. to guide the direction of the interviews, to build requirements and guidelines before the interview and outline desired outcomes, to directly curating social influencers to help get more people talking about the movie. Whether this translates to day-to-day PR duties on this like social, I'm not sure.

 

Sony/Celine might still be her main social team, but may occassionally receive strategic direction and some social help from the agency on a need basis. Hopefully this good PR continues!

So I don’t know… when I saw that post the other day I didn’t interpret it as an explanation of the timing, more so his curatorial input.

 

A film about WNBA makes a lot of sense at the moment, as does on about the king of Wimbledon.

But I don’t think that’s a primary reason for the timing.

 

They probably choose all those films release dates, and then decided they fit a certain “theme”. And pushed that as a marketing tool for this month.

One of the things that came out of the pandemic when we needed to be with people while physical distancing. It can be nice to chat with a few friends and interact with a movie but just like a livestream with messages scrolling way too fast, I know I’d get a headache after a few mins, let alone 100 mins.

Saw it again tonight and I’d say there were about 25 people in the theatre which is pretty darn good for a doc and 5x the number that were in the room when I saw Love Again last year! (And incidentally, saw it at AMC Lincoln Square which is where they held the LA premiere, though unlike tonight’s screening I’m pretty sure that wasn’t in the smallest theater in the basement!) I think audience was mostly elder millennial and about 80% male.

 

Interestingly, this time it included a “this film includes scenes of medical trauma that may be distressing to some” warning. I don’t recall that from Monday’s screening.

 

I’ve got to say, Amazon sending this to 480 theatres nationwide is quite the move. I think they really may try to campaign it come award season. Otherwise a release that wide, even for a weekend? It feels aggressive.

It's the radio remix but shorter, and minus that "industrial" drum beat sound at 3:15.

 

The original ANDHC's length is 4:19. Whereas the one on the soundtrack is 3:58.

Yeah I think it’s maybe even another promo vehicle, more so than any hopes of meaningful box office. Just having it out there and visible in theaters raises its profile. I don’t think Amazon is expecting any meaningful theatrical receipts here.
