I wonder if announcement of dates was waiting to see how she handled being back in spotlight with premier of the film and doing press. Kind of a warm up to being back on stage and in front of her fans to see that her current medication does seem to prevent the crisis. Now that, this hurdle is past they can firm up dates and really ramp up production of a new show.

But she has done very little of what you say as of yet, I don’t think the hurdle is past at all. She would need to do more things like talk show appearances (preferably with performances) to really test the waters, although admittedly it would not be great circumstances for something to go wrong at all.

prior to “A new Day…”’nobody used the word “residency” that easily… now more than one show in a specific area, people are calling it a “residency”.

That’s true. But then she’s done many Paris residencies…

I am thinking in terms of being in the public with crowds and lightbulbs. Standing on a stage receiving a standing ovation and feeling all that emotion. Not sure can ever recreate what it will feel like that first time. But some of what she just did is a beginning more so than just announcing LV and performing her first how.

We both haven’t seen the documentary but we already knew that it started since 2008. That’s why her voice changed in 2008 into more thin nasal sound or forced it to sound like that in order to continue touring

That explains why she started using her mixed voice a lot more starting in 2008.

I don’t see a change there, she’s been using it as much as she possibly could since 1998.

True! Plus her voice in 2008/2009 was nowhere near as nasal as it was in 2003/2004.

Hmm more like nasal sounds but early 2008 south africa leg. Her voice was amazing lots of belting. The middle of the tour that’s where it started - the changes

“Celine has a deal with AEG at Resorts World — they essentially built that theater for her,” my Vegas source said. “They say 90% of (her SPS attacks) is mental. So if she can overcome that…”

“She is considering doing some dates at Resorts World under her deal, which would make sense,” my source added. “With today’s technology, she could easily do a show that has limited movement and enough vocal support to make it through a 75-to-90-minute show.”

Honestly, I dismissed that upon seeing it earlier today, given the source.

Also, how grossly dismissive. But that’s a reality of what so many SPS patients deal with.

100% not the most reliable source, but my first thought as well. Very insensitive. reads like someone saying "its all in your head sweetie"

Yeah, which unfortunately is what so many SPS patients are told. “You don’t look sick”, “it’s just anxiety”…. Can you just imagine? To be told that if you’re going through what we see Celine go through in this film?!

I read it more like Celine’s primary trigger is emotions (rather than something physical such as light/sound etc.)

This article doesn't look like something reliable. "enough vocal support" Huh? They are basically saying she could make it through by heavily using pre-recorded vocals lol?

Exactly. Just remember her vocals on the "A New Day...Live In Las Vegas" CD.

The 2003/2004 A New Day vocals is her vocal stylings because it was corrected when she goes back in long hair.

It was not vocal styling. Her voice took a toll because of the desert climate that’s she wasn’t used to singing or living in.

Was the humidity onstage wasn’t there yet during her early shows of A New Day? Isn’t that the purpose of the humidity because of the desert climate? And I thought ever since she cut her hair her singing style changed then when the hair was longer (adding extensions) it goes back to normal?

So I have a friend out here in Vegas who has worked with both the regular and Latin Grammy's, the AMA's, etc... has connections at AEG. He in so many words told me that Celine's contract at RW has been canceled and she has signed a contract with The Sphere for a residency. Take this all with a grain of salt, but that's what I was told.

Also the absurd amount and frequency of shows.

I’m taking this with a wheelbarrow of salt but that would be insanely cool if it were true. Not too long ago we were talking about precisely that.

Her hair definitely has nothing to do with her vocal cords lmao.

She had the humidity on stage, and the air quality of her home was a set to a certain way. But she wasn’t hiding from the elements. She still went outside, and nothing is 100% fool proof. It’s all preventative, yes

Like someone also mentioned above, she was doing a ridiculous amount of shows every week. Even training every day wouldn’t keep your voice where it needs to be when performing that frequently.

There’s no way RW would let that happen. It’s one thing if there’s NO show due to her health, it’s another thing if she just changes venues because she feels like it, unless resorts world has something HUGE planned in regards to booking talent, because they are struggling.

That's what so interesting is she explains having to sing "more nasal" but the most nasal times of her career were before the TCWT...and I didn't even really notice a huge shift like the one she was describing. But maybe because we listen to her so much, the gradual changes got lost on us.

Impossible. The Sphere belongs to Live Nation, not AEG. Celine's still definitely under AEG.

LOL i know it has nothing to do with the hair just saying that when she goes back to the original Celine (long brown hair) everything goes back to normal. The way she sings not to nasal anymore unlike during those 2003-2004 short hair era. That’s why I assumed that it was a vocal stylings because of the “change” of look from going to short hair.

It’s like Taking Chances era a more edgier look, a more rock and roll vocals. A more dry vocals. More vocal fry. You know

She definitely became more nasal and much less pleasant to listen to in Europe and ahead during TCWT. Her Africa, Asia and Australia legs were much better. Her voice was so so good then

We discussed it a lot here, but always assumed she just got tired. Many even blamed Rene for too many concerts (to which I slightly agree - doing 6-8 arena shows in Paris instead of 1-2 Stade de France). But apparently, it was more due to SPS...

It’s so wild tho, because in 2011-2013 she served some of the best live vocals of her career in my opinion.

Yeah! I like the Africa show (first show). Her voice was so great! I think we can still watch some fancams during those shows? One thing that I remember was her performance of “I’ve Got The Feelin” that last belted note ‘NOTHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING” was so amazing!

We have Osaka bootleg from Japan which is still one of my favorites. Amazing vocals that night.
