Brace yourself for our latest bombshell! We’ve long suspected Celine Dion wasn’t done with Vegas, now we’ve gotten exclusive scoop she’s signed for a new residency at Resorts World.

That sound you hear is your brain exploding. Same.

While details related to this juicy rumor are scant, we hear Celine will get a custom theater built to her specifications at Resorts World, just as she did at Caesars Palace (at a cost of $108 million back in 2003).

Celine’s run at Caesars Palace, of course, is the stuff of Las Vegas legend.

Her final show at Caesars was June 8, 2019, after two residences (“A New Day” from 2003 to 2007 and “Celine” from 2011 to 2019), 16 years and 1,141 shows.

Celine Dion’s residences reaped a record-crushing $681 million in ticket sales. That’s a mind-boggling 4.6 million tickets.

When her Caesars Palace residency ended, there was a lot of speculation about what Celine might do next. At the time, other top names were being snagged by lucrative offers at Park MGM.

Then came a mysterious errant Tweet from the LVCVA (Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority), listing Celine among Park Theater’s roster of divas. The LVCVA said it was a mistake, but the stage was set for Celine’s return.

Around that time, we heard Celine had begun construction of a new home in Las Vegas, and knew she’d take a little time off and tour (artists are often contractually prevented from changing venues before a year has passed) before lining up another, even more profitable, gig in Las Vegas.

This might help put “profitable” into perspective: She made about $500,000 per show during her most recent Caesars Palace residency. It’s rumored Lady Gaga makes a million a show at Park MGM.

If the rumor proves true, Celine’s choice of Resorts World as her new home is huge for both the reigning queen of Las Vegas residencies and Resorts World, slated to open in summer 2021 following numerous delays.

For Resorts World, Celine would add an immediate stamp of legitimacy, and would bode well for the resort’s bottom line.

Celine’s appeal to a casino isn’t as much about ticket sales as it is other revenue. She appeals to a casino’s ideal customer. They not only buy expensive show tickets, but also spend money in the casino and on non-gambling amenities like restaurants, shopping and nightlife venues.

Celine’s residency at Caesars Palace was a windfall, and Resorts World no doubt would love to have that scenario unfold all over again.

The tricky part, of course, is a lot of people have seen Celine. Also, Resorts World will be an unknown quantity, and it remains to be seen if Celine’s star power will be enough to lure fans to a stand-alone resort on the north end of The Strip.

At the very least, a Celine Dion residency could cement Resorts World as a major player in Las Vegas, and would get the new resort on the radar of other A-list performers seeking a big payday.

Competition for entertainment dollars is already cutthroat in Las Vegas, and even more seats are coming online with the MSG Sphere and Raiders stadium.

Questions abound about who’s filling all those seats, as visitation in Las Vegas has been flat for two years and a number of shows have tanked in a big way recently, including “Blanc de Blanc” at Sahara and “R.U.N.” at Luxor (to the tune of $60 million).

It would be great to see Celine Dion back where she belongs, on the Las Vegas Strip.

She paved the way for other Vegas residencies including Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and innumerable others.

The Celine Dion residency at Resorts World hasn’t been officially announced or confirmed, but our sources are awesome, official announcements are boring and dropping scoop first is just how we roll.

Its not big surprise she will be back in Vegas as she lives there but 2021??? Really? Why not to take break at least for 1 year and then return to Vegas. She was very fresh when she return back after break in 2000 and 2009 I think she could profite from break.

I wonder if she’s going to be touring much into Asia and such once she wraps in Europe?

That being said, this doesn’t surprise me at all! (If it is true, of course. It’s just a rumor, but it does make sense.) I knew she wouldn’t be done with Vegas. The twins are still growing and I’m sure they have their friends and she doesn’t want to tear their world, and she definitely has earned her spot in the Vegas entertainment industry. I am so so curious to see what the future holds.

Interesting! Someone on twitter was complaining that the tickets will be too expensive...but honestly they can't be more than the seats on this tour. Anything on the floor was upwards of $300.

I have to wonder then why she isn’t performing at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham (where she has performed before). I know it’s not compulsory, especially so early on, but I do find it strange that they would choose the rival venue instead. By the way, I know the tour was scheduled last year but, still.

Anyway, if she does end up having a third residency in Vegas I really hope it will at least be something special, something different like ‘A New Day...’. Her most recent residency was also meant to be special and different in a way but by the time it reached the end, it had become pretty much a greatest hits show.

I wonder what capacity the new theatre will have and what it will look like but it’s definitely too early to tell.

No no no no no no NOOOOOOOO

The worst possible news. To me, 2021 isnt even long enough to build hype or to get the thirst for Celine back. Also, seems to be a very unlikely and early time as they'd need to build said venue and then announce and promote her new show, and i dont see them doing that until well after the tour is over. I really wasnt hoping to see her back there until at least 2023. This seems way too rushed and also badly forebodes the fact that this anti tour or extra projects yall crave will never come to fruition.

Im holding my breath as this is hardly a credible source and alot of those "details" seem iffy, but if its true It'll be a shambles, considering not even a year earlier she will have JUST toured through the entire US.

Please music gods, dont let this happen

What if this is the acoustic show Céline was talking about in recent interviews? It would make sense.

In Vegas? At a brand new $4.3 billion dollar resort which needs a headliner to rake in the dough with ease and with little to no effort aka a greatest hits show from a vegas legend? Yeah I cant see that happening at all.

According to the Wikipedia page its a proposed 5,000 seat theatre

A third residency is great and I'm looking forward to it. But I hope she will have to do less shows and is allowed to tour as often as she wants :) if it will be like this I'm more than okay with it

Please, not so soon. The third residency can wait a couple of years.

Guys , Here is the way I see it happening,, First the tour does end in Sept,, if and when she does go back , Fingers crossed it doesn't interfere with football during the fall,

2nd is it could happen In a yrs time, that would give her plenty of time to rest and figure out what type of show they want,

We all knew this was coming. Vegas is her home. For some reason unknown to us, she seems to love living there. A 3rd residency was always going to happen. She doesn't seem to want a break - she wants to keep working. She'll probably have some sort of a short break after the tour but then she'll go right back to doing what she loves - not recording music but performing for live audiences.

After a giant 21 track album, I wouldn't expect another from her until 2025. (It seems to take her 6 years between English albums these days.) The only way I think we'll got one sooner is if they do a One Heart-type thing where they do take the leftovers from Courage and release a new album just to make a tie-in with the new residency. Who knows? Time will tell!

I'm not surprised. I've seen chatter that Celine was in talks with another Vegas property for a while now. It makes sense from the viewpoint of a mother. She can continue to perform while her young sons grow older. It's a sense of normalcy versus constant touring. Rene and Celine did it for R.C., and now, Celine will do it for Eddy and Nelson.

From a career standpoint, it's not the worst thing either. Vegas is continuing to aim towards a younger crowd. She can still release albums during this residency. If she doesn't, it's because she's choosing not to. There are plenty of songwriters and producer's who would drop everything to work with her. They'll fly to her. She doesn't need to fly to them at this point in her career.

The concept of "Celine" in 2011 was really interesting, but quickly, they dropped the whole, "Old Hollywood" theme they were going for. I saw "Celine" back in August of 2011, only a few months after the premiere. By the end of the "Celine" residency, there were only mere slivers of what the show used to be. I think it went downhill but that's for another discussion... Long story short, I would hope they do something ENTIRELY creative. Bring back dancers, bring back visuals, and a full orchestra. Hell, bring back Franco Dragone. Create something to blow away minds. With "A New Day..." even non-Celine fans were going to see the show since everyone knew it was a massive theatrical event that was "THE" show to see in Las Vegas. There's no reason they can't create something truly memorable and not "just" a concert. I'm sure they'll give Team Celine a massive budget to work with if the rumor is true. They just need to get creative.

Sorry this got a bit lengthy. I want Celine to do whatever makes her happy, but I just hope this isn't rushed. It could be great, but if rushed, it'll show. I hope she takes some time off after "Courage" but if Celine doesn't want to, that's for her to decide! :)

Its already been heavily suggested theres a Asia/Oceania leg. The tour itself will run into 2021. Whilst the resort is DUE to open in Summer 2021 I wouldnt see a residency starting till well into 2022. Even if this does happen, i was hoping she’d at least take 2 or 3 years off, at LEAST build up some anticipation for more Celine

SUPER RUMORMILL JACKPOT: Vital Vegas, whose has developed a reputation for reporting rumors that for the most part, end up being true, has dropped the big one:

Is Celine Dion coming back to Vegas?

VV says Celine has been negotiating with Resorts World Las Vegas for a new residency. He even says they will build a theater just for her, like Caesars Ent did back in the 2000's.

Article: https://vitalvegas.com/watch-for-a-celine-dion-residency-a…/

Is it true? I have no idea. As I always say when I hear these rumors: "Only Time Will Tell".

What do you think? Would you see Celine if she comes back to Vegas for another residency?
