I must have been very unlcear what I meant here.

 

Almost most of the time when a song climbs the charts it's because the songs "hooks" and get you stuck, and crave for you to listen to it again and again (and by "you" I mean people in general) hence why people keep streaming it.

 

When we hear a new Céline song we listen to it, crave to have it on repeat. But that is because we are bias. People who don't have the same affection/obsession for Céline Dion maybe wouldn't find that song that special in itself.

 

So when many here tend to speak as if anything she releases can become a hit, just with the right amount of promotion. I beg to differ. If the song itself doesn't grab hold of a non fan I don't think it has much chance of becoming a hit, regardless if I like it or not.

 

I know it may be painful (for some reason) to talk about it. But just because we like her newest single (coz we love hearing her singing it) doesn't mean it's natural for it to become the next MHWGO.

 

All in all I am pointing this out coz "huge promo + Céline sings any song = number one hit" isn't that sure if the song isn't something special.

 

Out of the four I still think FOMO is the one with "most hit potential", but in the way it is now it wouldn't stand a chance on the charts since it needs to have more power to it to make it loose its dated feeling. So I don't think they should promote it more and it would automatically start climbing the charts. I do think however she should promote it in the tour though.

 

(And I may add again I love Imperfections the most, out of the 4, but I rarely "misses" it when I am not listening to it, and I am a hardcore fan. And if it was done by another artist I wouldn't click on it as much as I still do....).

Exactly. “Imperfections” is a song that could have the potential to reach the non Celine fans. It’s a simple songs, a modern song but at the same time it does has a message to the lyrics tho they are simple. I’m a fan obviously and I prefer “Imperfections” waaaaaaaay more than “Lying Down”. For me I also enjoy “Courage” more than “Lying Down”. So taste is subject, good thing is I think the new album will have something for everyone.

I agree. Non-fans do like Imperfections best. It must have something to do with the simple voice and no big Celine notes. That's probably why Sony decided to release it to radios first (to avoid the typical big Celine vocals and surprise the general public). Great move in my books!

 

I love the power ballad as much as the next person but sometimes less is more lol. It would be weird to sing a song about being imperfect with her perfect power notes and belts of a power ballad. I love the mellow and simple feel from it, just like I also really liked “Skies of La”

I belive it's more about the production than the vocals... She hasn't been in such a current setting since like IDAN (sure LMBTL was a good attempt at sounding current too, but besides that). This modern and current sound is very welcome to me.

I love this song but I could see how it could be really boring onstage. It’s mid-tempo so you (and Celine) can’t really dance to it. The lyrics are repetitive. So what’s she going to do to “sell” the song. They’d have to do something spectacular with the visuals/lighting. But I really do think it ultimately just suffers from not being a ballad but not something the band can rock out to.

I think it doesn't work with the orchestra, but they could use a backing track. Oh well, who knows maybe they surprise us

This could’ve been the time to show off the visuals with the song.... it should’ve showed a very young Celine footage (in black and white )like how they did with WDMHBN In Vegas but instead showed her with her hair and teeth problems... all of the super old footage and slowly move into a color version of her through out the years to look like she is today. It could’ve been a true highlight of the show showcasing the message of learning to love yourself. Missed opportunity.

I highly doubt its cause she “doesnt like it” Imo, it’s perfectly rational and makes sense that it simply doesn’t translate well on stage. Its too effect and studio based to translate live and as well as being a mid tempo, if the instrumental wasnt perfect, it would throw it off badly. Meaning theyre better off not doing it

A question for those who live in the US: do you think that a Top 10 on the AC chart translates into the song being somewhat recognizable to the general public? Or it's still not enough exposure?

Why weren't there any remixes for Imperfections?

 

For her tour she could easily have used a good remix and added it into a fine party medley along with FOMO and Ashes Aoki Demix...

 

Oh wait they don't like to do either of the things: performing remixes, doing logical moves, performing her latest hits + creativity.

2) “Imperfections” DOES have a melody — but it stays within one octave (unlike any other Céline Dion song i know of, which makes it unique). Plenty of newer artists sing songs like this on stage, and I bet their fans eat it up.

 

3) Sure, it could use a little more umph, but I’d rather see her snap her way across stage singing this with ease than strain and screech her way through “Lying Down”.

 

4) We won’t know until after the album is released whether or not this song will be performed for the rest of the tour. My guess: it’s not there currently because it wouldn’t mesh well with the older material. When she does add new songs, it could be part of the revamped set list.

I’m actually losing hope that we’re going to get new songs performed on this tour. I mean, she’s got 4 songs out now and she’s only doing 2 of them. Why no FOMO? She performed it twice in Vegas and then again in London but then dropped it into a medley in Quebec and now it’s disappeared.

 

Considering the fact that she hasn’t toured the US in 10 years, I’m starting to think that this “Greatest Hits” tour will remain just that. She doesn’t have to worry about “selling” the album because everyone who bought a ticket automatically bought it. She can just do two songs (which might get swapped out for two different songs along the tour.) But I honestly am no longer expecting 6 songs from Courage as a part of this tour. I’m not even expecting 4.
