Not sure if it’s been posted, but according to All Access, “Imperfections” has gotten 11 adds in the US this week to AC radio!! Which also makes it the most added in the country for this week.

 

All this with ZERO promotion! I’ll consider it a success just based on that. I understand she’s busy right now but I mean she’s not even promoting this song on her “Courage” tour.

They posted to HER followers on Instagram and Facebook. A few media outlets picked up “Celine shows us her bare face” music video ( and anyone who really follows Celine has seen her bare face very very often, though brave it wasn’t her first or even her 50th time showing herself in that light) and that was it. No performances of the song, no media promotion. I would say this song could’ve and should’ve had better promotion.

Heard it in Luxembourg for the first time today around 6 PM on a quite popular radio (L’essentiel) targeting young professionals.l (Hot AC type of music). It was introduced as new song by Celine Dion.

As much as I’d love to hear her sing “Imperfections”, there’s a reason it hasn’t happened yet: she doesn’t want to. Remember, Céline is the “boss” and she does what she wants, when she wants, how she wants.

 

I dunno, perhaps the music video was just a little “chestnut” to keep us happy, without any intention of ever performing it live? Or perhaps she *will* sing it during her TV Promos (if she doesn’t sing “Show Must Go On” or “Ashes”). Either way, I don’t think fans care enough to start a petition/protest... especially with a new album coming out in a couple of weeks. If you guys want to try, go for it. I just don’t think it’s a realistic goal.

if her team was intelligent, they would observe how the song is doing on the charts and take all necessary steps to push it even more. It’s crazy that her fans care more than her and her team. They have a perfect situation that they can use, but again they don’t do anything. The song is doing very well without any promo and that is reason enough to make use of this. Radio, or a Streaming....it all needs promotion. If a massive amount of people request music the radios would have no choice but to play it. Hell, look at BTS.

Don’t think it has to do with vocals if that’s the real reason, but more with the type of song (certain mid-tempo songs aren’t always the best songs to perform live (on tour))..

Remember, she sang Taking Chances and LMBTL - already very "modern" songs in her standard - in almost every major and minor TV shows. But look what happened, they didn't go anywhere in the charts. We just have to accept that "performing them in TV shows" or "making music videos" simply just won't cut it in terms of "promotion." She can perform all she like, but if radios don't play her and people dont stream her music, then none of her songs will explode in the charts. Sad but true.

They’re all “good enough” to be a single, but unless promoted “properly”, none of them (including maybe even stronger songs on the album) have thr chance. Céline could’ve & should’ve done a couple of promo appearances and perform any of those songs. It would’ve helped immensely.

In my humble opinion I think Imperfections have had pretty decent promo compared to a lot of her later releases.

 

Edit: sure there could had been A LOT MORE done. But by her team's standards this is quite big.

 

For all you wanting it live on TV I am not that sure she would reach the streaming audience through "good morning shows". The best thing would be on a high profile award show like the Grammys or Billboard. Plus it would really require a neat number. Not sure this song would reach non fans if she just stands there and sings (it's not a song wich grabs you regardless of visuals like let's say ABM).

Agreed...She needs to see if she can take a day soon to do some promo of this song. I fear that we as fans want this for her more than she does or more than the exclusive Team Celine.

 

If they are waiting for the break in shows, I think that is going to be too long and the momentum in the charts will be gone.

 

Even if Sony could do placements of the song somewhere in ads for product or tv shows... 😐

I think we've reached another lever on this board: after the acronym fight ( "we use acronym on here and it's like that" because someone asked what doest it stand for...such a charming welcome) , now people try to make other dislike songs they may like.

 

And sorry but what a silly reason : of course, we like it because it's Céline ...a song is not good in all mouths ( whether we're talking about Imperfections or not), otherwise we would be fan of all random singers covering her ( what you may call ) quality songs in all TV talent shows if the quality of the song overruled who sings it.

 

Beside, "Imperfections" is very neutral when it comes to singing : there's no Céline's vocal signature , so could be sung by "anybody"

Of the 4 released songs, Imperfections was the one I least liked, and I also thought it wouldn't have any impact.

The record company, the radios, the public, are having faith in this song, they believe this song can go higher and have potential, so much so that they made a music video, which I don't understand is that Celine's team didn't add it to the shows. I do not believe in this story that the music will not work live, it is only up to them, the music director to make the music in the same studio effect.

I must have been very unlcear what I meant here.

 

Almost most of the time when a song climbs the charts it's because the songs "hooks" and get you stuck, and crave for you to listen to it again and again (and by "you" I mean people in general) hence why people keep streaming it.

 

When we hear a new Céline song we listen to it, crave to have it on repeat. But that is because we are bias. People who don't have the same affection/obsession for Céline Dion maybe wouldn't find that song that special in itself.

 

So when many here tend to speak as if anything she releases can become a hit, just with the right amount of promotion. I beg to differ. If the song itself doesn't grab hold of a non fan I don't think it has much chance of becoming a hit, regardless if I like it or not.

 

I know it may be painful (for some reason) to talk about it. But just because we like her newest single (coz we love hearing her singing it) doesn't mean it's natural for it to become the next MHWGO.

 

All in all I am pointing this out coz "huge promo + Céline sings any song = number one hit" isn't that sure if the song isn't something special.

 

Out of the four I still think FOMO is the one with "most hit potential", but in the way it is now it wouldn't stand a chance on the charts since it needs to have more power to it to make it loose its dated feeling. So I don't think they should promote it more and it would automatically start climbing the charts. I do think however she should promote it in the tour though.

 

(And I may add again I love Imperfections the most, out of the 4, but I rarely "misses" it when I am not listening to it, and I am a hardcore fan. And if it was done by another artist I wouldn't click on it as much as I still do....).
