I'm afraid I won't be able to follow the party tonight since I wake up very early at 6:30 to go to work so I'll follow the updates until 23hrs (Otherwise I will be like a zombie tomorrow at work)

 

To be honest I don't like at all the idea of the drags for a new single nor the album concept. One thing is to be goofy and playful and I'm all for the LGTB association and all, but not for a comeback single please, she doesn't need all that circus around her to draw attention I want her alone and on her own and nobody else, no duets, no cameos, no anything else but her and her voice!

I'd like the idea for a videoclip for a second/third single, but not as the letter of introduction for the new single/album.

 

And also it's ironic you're all jealous/criticising Pepe for doing so many things now but who else than PEPE is behind this drag thing? Because this surely is an idea of Pepe, this would have never happened with René or Céline on her own!

So collaborating with drag queens makes you a circus act? Or is the problem that it will bring out the trolls from the woodwork?

 

I find it interesting that Madonna is reportedly working with a drag performer for the first video of her own "comeback single." If Celine releases a video themed around drag performers now, suddenly Madonna's video becomes ... dare I say ... REDUCTIVE!

 

Personally I would find that entire (speculative) situation of people speculating that Madonna copied Celine hilarious, so I would love to see Celine go all in on the drag angle ...

 

Furthermore considering how many times she has been compared to a drag queen it feels like a very self-reflexive gesture, which I think follows the playbook established by Ashes. I want there to be a media circus and I want people to find it compelling, of the moment, and even a bit transgressive ... and we all know how powerful gay bloggers and influencers are on driving media narratives when it comes to singers like Mariah, Celine, Ariana, Madonna, etc

I kind of feel the same. I know some people on here love the whole drag thing, but for me it does nothing. A one off joke is one thing but I really hope this isn't something that continues into the tour. I know she has a big following from the gay community, but it will be middle aged women and their husbands filling a lot of the seats on the tour and groups of women.. Casual fans. I hope she hasn't gone too niche.

 

And yes, I also made the assumption that Pepe's influence may be at work here, we know he is very into the burlesque/cabaret scene.

Well if many fans found some of her Parish fashion looks a bit "too much" and "over the top", I'm on my right to think that seeing Céline with no less than 4 drag queens for a music videoclip is also a bit "over the top". Is it trangressive? She doesn't need to. Is it fun? No doubt!

 

And please note one of my other fav singers did this before, and I loved it: Annie Lennox had many drags for her Little Bird 1992 videoclip and it was absolutely artistic and a lovely video, but... she was Annie Lennox, an activist who has always been a gay icon; when Celine tries to do this it sounds like... forced? Desperate to get some attention for a comeback? And besides, why not say it, it clashes with the classy image that Céline has always had in the collective minds. Don't get me wrong, it's not that you cannot film a video with drag queens and still be a class act, but coming from Pepe and the context we've seen so far, to me it just looks a bit tastless and vulgar for Céline to do that for a new comeback single All in all, I'm not sure how this concept would work for Céline and with a comeback single...

 

But we're all conjecturing now, we don't even know what they were filming right.

i would not be disturbed by it, being a middle aged women as you say. I suspect most are like me.i'm nothing special. I think it would bring joy.
